How far would you travel to be with the one that you love? I was at an anniversary celebration at the weekend with a couple who have been living apart together for 10 years. There's a 6-hour or so drive between them, and I think that's on a good day, and they've managed to keep it going for 10 years and are very happy that way. They both are quite independent. One lives in the city, one lives in the country, and they just really enjoy spending their time together in either of their residences. I spoke to another woman at the party. She was in a relationship with somebody who was across the Atlantic Ocean and thinking about when she was going to see that person in a month's time. And I suspect one of the advantages of being older is that, yes, we can consider these long-distance relationships if we want to, especially if you're a very independent person, and especially if the thought of seeing somebody every 3 weeks, a month, 2 months makes you really excited rather than feeling ultimately incredibly frustrated.
