Let's talk about text message addiction. I know I've definitely been in relationships in the past where I was just waiting for that next text message to arrive, or WhatsApp, or whatever you happen to be using as a messaging platform, and thinking that if they didn't respond to me immediately, that there must be something desperately wrong, and I must have done something wrong, and or I was being ghosted or something like that. I was always catastrophizing this whole thing about not receiving this message instantly. And then I had a boyfriend who used to put his phone in the drawer in his desk at work and typically wouldn't respond to anything before sort of 9:00 PM. And so my addiction and my compulsion to, read and wait for these messages just disappeared. And I just got used to not hearing from him for the entire day, and sometimes not until much later that evening. And that literally broke that addiction that I had to text messaging. And I suspect I've become one of those people as a result who often just doesn't respond to a message for quite a while, not because I'm not interested, but because I'm busy doing other things and there's nothing urgent about that message that's demanding that I answer it quickly. And I suspect as a result of that, that I'm not as needy. I'm not viewed as one of those women that is, you know, kind of has that kind of compulsion. And I don't attach any significance to the fact now when somebody doesn't message me instantly, fact, I don't even give a shit if they message me, if they don't message me, if it takes them a day, whatever. I don't really care. And probably I'm quite similar in the same way. And I think just generally that none of us are attractive when we become addicted to waiting for that message to arrive.
