Let's Talk About The Problem With P*rn

Pornography distorts what men expect from sex. Women's arousal is mental and requires consent and engagement, not just physical stimulation. Most women don't prioritize squirting, but porn makes men think they should.

Let's talk about the problem with porn. We know that porn's got loads of problems. It's contributing to massive sort of sexual dysfunctions, all sorts of other things. But one of the things I've noticed, having recently decided that, you know, I just like to meet some new people, went on a dating app that's for people in alternative lifestyles because I'm not looking for anything serious, just want to hang out with a few people from time to time, some people, is that some of the way that men are articulating their desire and what they're looking for is very much driven, no doubt, by what they've seen in porn. And I'll give you one example. A guy puts a post up, says that he really wants to make me cum and make me squirt. And I told him, well, neither of those things is going to happen unless I decide they're going to happen. It's what goes on between my ears. Women's brains need to tell what goes on down below that it's all very exciting, it's a big turn-on, and then it can all go off if all of this stuff is cooperating. If we shut our brains down and somebody's going at it down below, for me anyway, it's unlikely that anything's gonna happen. It's just that, yeah, it can feel good, but all the bells and whistles aren't gonna go off unless my brain is telling what's happening down there that it's— that it wants it to happen. So we do operate slightly differently than men in this regard, who have told me that they need to turn their brain off and their dick just takes care of itself. I don't work that way, and I need more kind of mental stimulation. It's As far as squirting goes, yeah, it looks cool. It's very messy. I've done it. It's not, you know, it's not the be-all and end-all. If I never squirt again, it doesn't matter to me. Squirting feels like— it feels like a great release. It's like I said, visually it can be quite exciting. Feels like a really good pee to me. But, you know, again, that's my experience. Certainly I know that on porn You see it all the time, but you know, for the majority of women, I suspect either it's not of interest to them or yeah, it's not that big a deal. So I suspect that a lot of this stuff that men think we want is driven because they've watched too much porn and they think that's what sexual pleasure for women looks like. But if you really want to know what turns us on, just ask.
