Sexual compatibility matters for long-term relationships. Waiting for natural conversations about preferences, kissing styles, and kinks risks disappointment. Have sex early to figure out if you're actually compatible before investing more time.

Should you have sex on a first date or very early in your relationship? I was struck by a comment that somebody made yesterday when I talked about having the conversations about what you like, what you don't like sexually very early in the relationship, and they said that they thought that that should be something that happens naturally as you get to know somebody. I completely disagree with that because my experience has been that if you don't have those conversations early on, then your risk of being disappointed is pretty high. But if you you have those conversations and you are intimate with somebody very early in the relationship, then you can find out whether or not you are compatible sexually. And let's face it, we're not all compatible sexually. Sometimes people like kissing in a certain way that doesn't suit the other person. You might like oral, the other person might not like oral. They might have some kinky desires that aren't your thing. Um, and I'm not saying that we have to be 100% sexually compatible, but certainly we have to be you know, mainly sexually compatible, I think, for relationships to have a good chance of working and being fulfilling for both parties. So my feeling is that you should have sex early on and find out whether you enjoy being intimate with that person.
