Suzanne Noble discusses whether frequent vibrator use reduces clitoral sensitivity. While experts deny it happens, she found daily use made orgasm harder by week's end, but spacing sessions to once a week helped. She also notes stronger modern vibrators and how testosterone improved her sensitivity.

Does using a vibrator frequently impact on your ability to have an orgasm? I.e., if you use a vibrator every day, will you find that your clitoris will become less sensitive and it will be more difficult to come? The doctors out there, the scientists, all say no, it has no impact on your ability to orgasm. I've heard many people say that. Personally, anecdotally, what I found is if I use a vibrator every day, by the end of the week it is almost impossible for me to have an orgasm. And if I space it out, if I use one once a week, it's much easier. I don't know, maybe that's just because what's going on in my head is like boring. Who knows? It could be. Perhaps. Personally, it feels like my clit is less sensitive. I'm not saying that I can't have an orgasm without a vibrator, but it is a lot more difficult, and I have to be super horny. One thing that has definitely helped is going on testosterone. That has definitely improved my ability to have an orgasm, and also just spacing out the frequency with which I use a vibrator. I would also just say that since I started using vibrators 20 or more years ago, they have become a lot stronger. And I know that as we age as well, the smaller nerves in the clitoris do become less sensitive and the larger nerves take over, and that's why vibrators are often really good for older women to use. I don't have any shame about using them, as you can tell, but generally I prefer to space out how often I use them because frankly, I like it not taking me half an hour to have an orgasm.
