The Secret Perks of Being Single: Why Solo Planning Is the Ultimate Freedom

I'm often the one that plans things in relationships, and I suspect that mostly women are planners in relationships. I know that's a generalization, but that's been my experience. I usually take over the planning of everything when I'm involved with someone, which is why mainly I enjoy being single, because all I have to do is think about what I'm going to do for myself, and I don't have to consider anybody else's feelings, what they like, what they don't like. Well, often when I get into relationships and I find that I'm a planner or have become the planner, I get really resentful at the fact that I'm planning everything. Of course, it's my own damn fault because I've taken control of that. And I suspect my partner just thinks, "Well, she loves to plan, so just let her." But occasionally at the start of a relationship, I meet someone and I think, "Oh, here's an opportunity for me to break my pattern and let them do some of the planning." And if they take over, God, I am so delighted. Doesn't really even matter to me what they choose. Just choose any old thing and I'm happy. If on the other hand they do the usual, which is certainly in my experience, "Oh, I don't know. It's so hard. There's so many different things. Why don't you plan it?" Then I just feel generally resentful and fucked off. What about you? Are you the planner or is your partner the planner? Or perhaps do you share the planning? Which just sounds ideal to me, but I've never made it work.
