Suzanne Noble explains how desire shifts with age: many older women experience responsive arousal, where desire comes after physical stimulation rather than before. She suggests creating erotic atmosphere through mystery, surprise, and small gestures like blindfolds, massage, and thoughtful touch.

How do you create desire? I read the other day that in older women, desire comes after arousal, as opposed to in our younger days where desire came before arousal. And I suspect that's absolutely true. But how do we create that erotic atmosphere? How do we make things spicy, especially if things have got a bit predictable and dull? For me, it's about distance, it's about mystery, it's about expectation, the sense of surprise, and then little things: a blindfold in a hotel room, feeling somebody's hand under a restaurant table, um, yeah, kiss on the back of the neck, a really good massage, just All of those little things that can just add up to making you feel just really sexy. Being given some naughty underwear in the post and some suggestions of where you'd like to see it worn. Anything like that, really. Kindness, being thoughtful, all of that sort of stuff. That's kind of just assumed, really, that we're always going to be more aroused with people who are nice to us. But generally, I suspect that like many women, It's about creating a sense of mystery and that sense of just not really knowing what's gonna happen.
