Suzanne Noble explains why older women lose interest in sex. Thinning vaginal walls cause pain, but lube or vaginal estrogen helps. Sex becomes predictable, and arousal changes require more touch, longer kisses, and foreplay.

Let's talk about why older women aren't having sex anymore. I get lots of men who write to me and say, my partner's not interested in sex, or guys just saying, hey, older women don't want to have sex. Well, there's 3 possible reasons for that. One is that it's just painful. So as we age, the vaginal walls get thinner, and that means that we need some help, whether it's lube, whether it's vaginal moisturizer, or in my case, vaginal estrogen. Number 2 is it's become predictable and boring. If you're not getting satisfied if you're not getting aroused. If a guy isn't spending enough time down there to get you all nice and juicy, then maybe you just don't want it. And number 3 is arousal changes in later life. So it becomes more responsive, which means more physical touch. We need more physical connection in order to feel aroused. That could mean a lingering kiss, a lovely hug that goes on a little bit too long, rubbing my shoulders. Oh, I always love that. So if a woman isn't, um, wanting to have sex with you, it could be that it's just because she's not getting the kind of sex that she wants.
