A speaker argues that couples can maintain sexual passion by avoiding cohabitation, limiting in-person time to once or twice weekly, and treating sex as a special event rather than routine. Adding kink, toys, and playfulness helps sustain desire beyond the initial spark.

Are you a bit of a first night energy junkie, first date energy junkie, where that first date, that first time that you are intimate with somebody, it's just the best and you find it really, really hard to repeat that? And I know that I think just generally with us humans that over a period of time, if sex becomes too repetitive and it starts to become quite boring and quite predictable and therefore after a certain period of time, you know, you kind of lose interest. But there's a few ways I've found to overcome that. One is not living with somebody, that always helps. And not seeing them too frequently. For me, once a week, once every 2 weeks is pretty much my ideal. And when you do meet, really give yourself over to that sexy time and put some effort in. I do find that if somebody is creative and somebody's a bit kinky and somebody likes you know, using toys, messing around, just self-pleasuring, pleasuring me, just basically open to all the buffet that is sex without being so prescriptive about it, that's when it can get better and it can remain really good over a longer period of time. That's the trick for me of maintaining that intimacy over a long period of time is not to see him too often, not to live together, and find somebody that's just as kinky and interested in sex as you are.
