In this vlog, the speaker recounts the third part of a recent trip to Istanbul with a person she had only dated three times. The journey began with separate seating on the flight from London and continued with separate hotel rooms because both are light sleepers. On the final day, while the companion was occupied with work, she explored the city alone, crossing the Bosphorus in cold rain, then visiting the Spice Market where her brand‑new iPhone was stolen. Without a phone, she felt stranded and bought a second‑hand iPhone 6 from a local shop, only to discover it was unusable due to two‑factor authentication. She was unable to contact her travel partner, who was departing from a different airport. Throughout the trip she observed that her companion is heavily work‑focused—typical for someone nearing 60—spending much time on his phone, yet he was laid‑back about travel planning, contrasting with her own planner mindset. Despite the setbacks, she praises Istanbul as a wonderful city and encourages viewers to visit, noting that while the phone theft was a major inconvenience, it was part of the experience.

So here's part 3 of my trip to Istanbul with somebody that I only had been on 3 dates with. First, uh, setting out from London, didn't sit on the plane together because they couldn't seat us together. Got there, realized that we couldn't sleep together because we're both really light sleepers, so I moved into a hotel on my own. And then Finally, on the final day, which was supposed to be our free day yesterday, he had some more work to do and I decided to explore the city, which included crossing the Bosphorus when it was freezing and raining, and I got off the boat and thought, fuck this, got straight back on again and went straight back to the side that I'd been on before, the European side, and then decided to go to the spice market where my brand new iPhone was stolen. What a great end to the holiday that was. So, couldn't get in touch with anybody, got back to the hotel, realized this was going to be a shit show without a phone. So, I got told about a secondhand mobile phone shop where I went and they sold me a crap iPhone 6, which didn't really serve much use to me as everything I had was double authentication. I couldn't get in touch with the guy that I've been traveling with to tell him that my phone was stolen, and we were traveling back from separate airports anyway, so I wasn't going to see him. And what did I learn about that guy over the 3 days? Well, I learned that he likes to work a lot, but it was a work trip, so that was no surprise to me. But he does seem to work a lot, and I guess that's not all that unusual. I know with guys approaching their 60th year, often they're scared scared that they're going to lose their job, or they just really love their job and they don't want to lose it, so they work extraordinarily hard and spend a lot of time looking at their phone. You know, it's not unusual. Uh, travel-wise, he seemed to be kind of a laid-back sort of guy, and I'm a bit of a planner. That's not a massive problem, although I like being with somebody who prefers to plan as well, but this was work trip for him, so not that unusual that he wasn't really planning things. Had a very nice dinner together, and yep, do I know that much more about the guy after traveling with him and spending a few hours with him? Not really, not that much more than I knew before. But then again, um, yeah, it was work trip for him, it was a holiday for me. I got to see Istanbul, amazing Fabulous city. If you ever get the opportunity to come to Istanbul, you should definitely take it. It's a wonderful, wonderful place. I could have lived without getting my phone stolen, but you know what, that's life.
