Tessa Romero guides you through a journaling session on becoming the wife you want to be, using Proverbs 31 as a framework. Write along with her to align your thoughts and identity with your goals in marriage and life.
Would you like to sit down and fill a page together inside of our journals? Yes. Okay, good, because I made this podcast episode for you to be able to do that with me. Hi, my name is Tessa Romero. I am the owner and founder of momset, and that is a space for moms to come create a positive mindset that actually serves them and motherhood and beyond. I want you to think like the mom you want to be, and I just get fired up creating all kinds of different resources and mental frames that help us do so. Journaling has been something that I do my whole life and very intentionally throughout my motherhood, not to document only the fun moments with my kids or, you know, write them a letter for their birthdays. While I do enjoy those things, I will be honest that I rarely do them. I journal every single day, though, and. And alignment journaling is something that I do every single day. So that is what we're going to be doing on this episode together and kind of just get you in a flow state, teach you how to do this so you can fill a blank page, too. You are going to need a journal and a pen to be able to do the. To do this successfully with me. I fully encourage you to actually sit down and write. It's one thing to hear it, it's one thing to see it. It's a whole other thing for you to. To write it. And this will be paced. This episode is paced for us to actually be writing together. So as I tell you what I'm writing, there will be a little bit of a pause so that you have the time to write it down, too. This is interactive, and I want you to do it with me. Okay. So if you're ready, let's get started and enjoy the show. I know that sometimes when we look at a blank page, we're like, what am I supposed to write down here? This is so intimidating. This. There's some fear that comes up, or maybe you start to realize how many negative thoughts you have, and you're like, I don't know how to flip these around, and I definitely don't want to see them on a piece of paper. So you just avoid writing in general. I want to help you overcome that and understand the power of this practice and how to align your mindset with who it is that you want to be. So I'm inviting you to pop in a headphone, grab your journal, and feel just steady and secure with me while we do this together. It's going to be a lot of fun. Make sure you have your Favorite drink that's always more enjoyable when you have something yummy to sip on. I'm drinking electrolytes with my colostrum powder mixed together. So good. And yeah, today we're going to be writing about aligning our mindset with the wife that we want to be. Still using your own I Am and I Am statement for inspiration. So please, sweet friend, turn to a blank page in your journal. Look at all these pages I filled out. Need a new journal soon and go ahead and mark the date at the top. So today is July 9th for me. We always start with our IM statement because it tells our mind where to think from. So take a second to write down your unique I Am statement. If you ever need help with your I Am statement and you're already in the momset membership, just post it in the community feed. Ask a coach and and we would all love to help you craft one. If you're not in my membership, any of my courses will help you create an I Am statement or my coaching opportunities. I Am statements are a first step. Like we must have an I Am statement if we want to craft an empowered mindset. Because you have to know who you want to think like. That's why it's so important. So take a second to write down your I Am statement and I'll be writing mine it. Okay, I've got my I Am statement down. I recently changed mine and I am obsessed with it. It's challenging me in all the right ways, helping me strive for growth while still affirming that this is truly who I am. So I am of the vine of Christ, truthful, kind and God fearing. He is alive in me and I let him lead. That's my IAM statement. What I thought would be really fun to do was for journaling about the wife that we want to be is use Proverbs 31 for inspiration. When you have a good idea in mind of like who you're striving to be and what she does and what is so unique about her, it is a lot easier to write those details in your journal. So I'm just going to use two parts of this scripture. So we're not going to use the whole thing. We're just going to use two sections of it. The first one being verse 10 through 12. So Proverbs 31 verse 10 through 12. It says who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm. All the days of her life. So let's just use that as our first set of insp. Like inspiring thoughts towards the person that we want to be. So I'm going to first write I am virtuous. I am a virtuous and capable wife. More precious than rubies. Make sure you're writing that down. Okay. I am a virtuous and capable wife. More precious than rubies. Let's think on that and expound on it. What does it mean to be a virtuous and capable wife that's more precious than rubies? I am treasured and cherished in my marriage. Completely irreplaceable. I am of the highest value and can be relied on. I bring vibrant color and beauty to my marriage and keep my marriage in a flattering light through all circumstances. I bring vibrant color and beauty to my marriage and keep my marriage in a flattering light through all circumstances. It is safe for goodness and joy to be built upon me. Okay. It is safe for goodness and joy to be built upon me. Her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life. Okay. I am trustworthy and devoted to enriching the life of my husband. Let's mention something about the way we speak life over our husband. Maybe that's the way that she greatly enriches his life. She can. He can count on her as someone that will be there to support him in the hard times, speak life over him in those times, and also defend his integrity and his honor in all circumstances. So no gossip or negativity or complaining about your husband. Maybe during girls night or coffee with a friend or you're texting your sister and you just want to complain. We hold ourselves to higher standards than that. So I am trustworthy and devoted to enriching the life of my husband. I see the best in him and it is easy for me to defend and stand by his honor and integrity. The burden of light. The burden of life feels light around me. The burdens of life feel light around me. I am a refuge that gives rest and peace of mind to the weary. I am a refuge that gives rest and peace of mind to the weary. My positivity is attractive. My faith drowns out My positivity is attractive. My faith drowns out any any fear or man made limitation. I create spaces that ideas can grow in. If your husband comes to you with an idea, create a space that it can grow in. Beautiful. Beautiful. Take a sip. Friends, we're going to add in now. She brings him good, not harm. All the days of her life. So I spend the days of my life bringing my husband good deeds and will. Ooh, I love that. I spend the days of my life bringing my husband good deeds and will. Okay, beautiful. The second. I'm about half a page in now. And the second part of the verse for Proverbs 31 that I want us to go through is verse 25 through 27. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future when she speaks. Her words are wise and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Yeah, we definitely need a whole half page or like 8 pages to write thoroughly on this. I know personally, I want this so bad. I don't wanna suffer anything from laziness in my life or my home. I want to deliver instructions with wisdom of the words that I use and also the most sincere and kind delivery. And I want to be able to laugh in my life without fear of the future. And where I see a lot of strengths that I have currently and I can recognize, like, okay, I have a lot of that going on. There are definitely some areas that I'd love to see it improve. So that's why I selected these verses. Let's break it down into three parts. Number one. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she lasts without fear of the future. Let's kind of copy paste it and just make sure that it's a focus on self. So I am clothed with strength and dignity and laugh without fear of the future. Beautiful. Let's add a little bit more to it, though, because some of you will not laugh because your fear of the future is way too big and your faith is not big enough to overcome that. It's not big enough to conquer it. So what do we need to add to this so that you actually start laughing on a daily basis? You. You put your trust in the Lord. You have faith for what's to come in your life. You have contentment and peace for where you're at. Let's write that I have complete contentment and peace for where I am in life and anticipate the wonderful way my life continues to unfold. Let's write that I have contentment and peace for my life today and anticipation for the exciting way my life continues to unfold. The future is for me, and every lesson I learned today is for the greater. The future is for me, and every lesson I learned today comes with me. That's better. The future is for me and every lesson I learned today comes with me. My Words are wise and a reflection of the love my Heavenly Father has for me. So let's make that even cleaner. My words are a wise reflection of the love my Heavenly Father has for me. My words are a wise reflection of the love my Heavenly Father has for me. I love that. Beautiful words come easily to me. There's power in my paws. Beautiful words come easily to me. Comma, there is power in my paws. I speak when it is necessary. I could use more of that filter in my life. Is what I'm about to say actually necessary? No. I speak when it is necessary and beneficial to the greater good for me to add my value. I speak when it is necessary and beneficial to the greater good for me to add my value. What do we. Ooh, we've got to be good at listening in every area of our life, especially as the type of wife we want to be. We need to be excellent at listening and asking questions. I so the questions I ask empower me to best understand my husband so I may love him even better. Have you ever asked your husband a question that you knew the answer to? You knew you didn't like the answer and it was just to pick a fight. It wasn't to love him better. It was to validate your own judgment and criticism and hurtful ways that like the hurtful story you had going on in your mind. That's why you asked that question. It wasn't to love and understand him better. So I personally really value this line. The questions I ask empower me to best understand my husband so I may love him even better. All answers. Here we go. You never quite know what someone else is going to say when you ask a question, so all answers are warmly received by me. I am cloaked in heavenly understanding with a sense of sacred safety that the Lord provides to me. That means no matter what some, no matter what he may say to your question, your job is to create understanding for him, love him even better. And know that there is a sense of sacred safety anointed over you like you're. You have that from your heavenly Father. So it's not about what other people say. Say, and if it hurts your feelings or it conflicts with your beliefs and opinions, all of that is secure in you because you have a heavenly Father that provides so much secure safety. That's how I interpret that. I am cloaked in heavenly understanding with a sense of sacred safety that the Lord gives me. I want to know all that I can about my husband. I want to know all that I can about my husband, even when my own opinions and tendencies may be challenged. I'm just already a better wife writing this. I can feel it. All right, take a sip. I want to add. I feel like we added. When she speaks, her words are wise. We added a good part on that. She gives instructions with kindness. Let's just put that in there. I give instructions with kindness. Ooh. I already know where we're going next. I appreciate all the ways and it can be done, especially when it looks different than my way. You maybe give your husband instruction on dressing the baby or making dinner, and he takes that instruction and does it his own way. I appreciate all the ways it can be done, especially when it looks different than my way. Surrender, my friend. You can do this. I appreciate all the ways it can be done, especially when it looks different than my way. My husband has much to teach me, and I observe so I may learn. That's good. Okay, this last verse, 27. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Oh, man. There are just so many times in my house that I can say, oh, I suffered that from laziness. Like, that's. That thing spilled and I didn't clean it up immediately. So now there's a big stain there or there's an odor. There's something that I don't like. I suffered that from the laziness to not just clean it up. So let's first say I serve seamlessly in my home and act promptly on what calls to me. I have the freedom and will to decide what gets my attention. Have the freedom and will to decide what gets my attention. My home is the canvas, and I make it beautiful. I lose nothing to laziness. I see a need and fill it with gratitude that I get to be the one to do it. I gain everything through my love, faith, and obedience. I gain everything through my love, faith, and obedience. My home is a reflection of my heart, and it is good. Okay. We have filled an entire page using just two points in scripture from Proverbs 31 to inspire us. So good. I always enjoy reading back through what I wrote just to kind of get a feel for things. Let it all sink into my mind as a beautiful story that I'm writing where I am the lead character and I live this beautiful life and a beautiful marriage, and I'm a beautiful person. So let's put it all together, see how it feels, focusing on our mindset. As a wife and a woman. I am of the vine of Christ, truthful, kind, and God fearing. He is alive in Me and I let him lead. That is my I Am statement. Remember, right here is where you wrote your I Am statement. I am a virtuous and capable wife more precious than rubies. I am treasured and cherished and my marriage completely irreplaceable. I am of the highest value and can be relied on. I bring vibrant color and beauty to my marriage and keep my marriage in a flattering light. Through all circumstances it is safe for goodness and joy to be built upon me. I am trustworthy and devoted to enriching the life of my husband. I see the best in him and it is easy for me to defend and stand by his honor and integrity. The burdens of life feel light around me. I spend the days of my life bringing my husband good deeds and will. I am clothed with strength and dignity and laugh without fear of the future. I have contentment and peace for my life today in anticipation for the exciting way my life continues to unfold. And the future is for me and every lesson I learned today comes with me. My words are a wise reflection of the love my heavenly Father has for me. Beautiful words come easily to me. There is power in my paws. I speak when it is necessary and beneficial to the greater good for me to add my value. The questions I ask empower me to best understand my husband so I may love him even better. I gain everything through my love, faith and obedience. My home is a reflection of my heart and it is good. Go ahead and close your journal, friend. I hope that that just slipped right into your heart in a really peaceful way and it gave your mind a whole new way of thinking. About your marriage, your home, your life, and yourself today. As you move through the day, every day, I encourage you to write for at least five minutes. Obviously this was longer than five minutes, and I hope that this was still just a meaningful time for you to see what is possible when you're writing and how much better it feels to write about who you are striving to become and the way you want to think compared to who you already are and how you're already thinking about things that may not be delivering the kind of results that you want to be seeing in your life. So I hope to do more little episodes like this where we fill a page. I am very interested and open to all feedback that you have. Or if you have a specific topic that you want to be able to fill a page on together, please send that feedback my way. I would absolutely love it. So this was a lot of fun to do together. I'm glad that I got the prompting and that I was able to act on it rather quickly. And and yeah, go get after your day. Go be the person that you want to be, especially since you've rehearsed it so well.
