Hello, my beautiful friend, and welcome to the Mind Body Alignment podcast. This is a place for us to come together and not only understand who we are, but how to become exactly who we want to be while developing the right skills and tools to help us do so. I'm your coach, Tessa Romero, and I can't wait to get started. I am honestly thrilled to be in this space with you and honored to be a part of your health journey in such a meaningful way. I cannot wait to get started. But before we do, I wanted to use this first episode as an opportunity for you to get to know me a little bit better. Who I am, what I'm passionate about, and how it is that I started Mind Body Alignment in the first place. Allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Tessa Romero. I'm 26 years old. I'm a woman's life coach specializing in moms. I'm also a wife to an incredible man that we have been married for six years and a mother to two beautiful boys who are two and a half and eight months old, Liam and Luke. Now, I am a lot of things to a lot of people. I'm a coach to some. I'm a wife, I'm a mother, I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, just like you. But if there's anything I can teach you in this space, it is that you are more than your roles. And we're going to talk about that in the episodes to come. We will go through your identity, your mindset, your self love, acts of self care, what it really means to have self forgiveness and boundaries and all of the good things. Those are the skills and tools that I am mentioning. But before we do, I want you to understand just a little bit more about me. I have not always known who I am, let alone know how to become exactly who I want to be. These are things that I had to learn. And honestly, I think that's what makes my program so wonderful. Inside of Mind Body Alignment is because these are things that I've been through myself. It's not just something that someone else taught me how to teach you. I'm talking from personal experience. So as you get to know me a little bit better, you'll learn about my trauma. You'll learn about the hardships and challenges and. And how exactly I began to overcome them. So let's take it back a few years and start from the beginning, because this all started when I got pregnant with my first son, Liam. During my pregnancy is when I really realized that I struggled with comparison, judgment, insecurities, lots of self hate and quite a bit of negativity. And none of those things really made me feel wonderful about myself, let alone got me any closer to where I wanted to be. I started making some changes that included unfollowing accounts on social media. And another huge one for me was I stopped working out in a gym setting because that was the setting that I found myself most comparing myself to other people and having this lingering feeling of I'm not good enough or people are watching me or I need to be better or just. It was just not a good environment for me. So I took it home and started doing home based workouts. And my sister and I, to make it fun, decided to FaceTime each other five, six days a week and do workouts over FaceTime. And what I learned through that is I have a talent of talking a lot, especially during workouts. My sister was getting amazing results, losing weight and reaching her health goals while I was growing a human and staying active just like I wanted to. And neither one of us needed a gym to do it. So that's how I started working out from home. And after I had my son, that grew into me starting Body by Mommy. Body by Mommy is my online workout community where I work out with women in a virtual setting and we do live workouts and you can always do them on replay and I still do that to this day because I love it so much. Now how does that lead to mind body alignment and the one on one coaching that I do with women now in my first year of running my online workout community, I noticed something and this might be something that you have personally experienced because I know I have too. And that was we would get all excited to start a four week, six week challenge, whatever it was, and we'd sign up and say, yes, I'm in this, I know I'm going to win it, I'm going to do so good, I'm going to lose the weight. And honestly, some women do, right? You stay consistent, you lost the weight, you got that goal. Whatever it was that you were working towards in that period of time, you did it. But then what's next, right? And that's where I started to see the inconsistency. Why do some women just stop showing up and they just disappear for 4, 6, 12, 18 weeks, however long it was, and then when they fill up to it again, maybe motivation strikes you like lightning and they decide to come back and they're like, oh man, I really wish I would have just kept the weight off the first time. It's going to be so hard to start over. And in my mind I'm like, if it were all about the weight, you would have stayed consistent. It's not all about the fact that physical side of things, what we can make our body do or look like or accomplish in a setting like this, right? It's just, it's not all about that. And that's when I started asking that question. What is missing? Why aren't you staying consistent? Why do I stay consistent and you don't? And remember, I spent all of that time working on myself because I didn't like who I was before I got pregnant with my son. So I had a different mentality and mindset going into the body by mommy community that I run for the workouts. Now when I started asking that question and really observing where does the inconsistency come from and I'm looking and looking and searching, it finally hit me. Like I just said, it's the mental side. It's the self love, it's knowing who you are. It's controlling your mindset and your self talk and your body image and setting boundaries when needed and addressing your shame and hardships and traumas and challenges. That's where that side comes from. That's what makes you say if you are going to do the thing that you said you're going to do or not, if you're going to talk yourself out of it, are you even your own best friend? Or are you like everybody else says, your own worst critic? And those are things that they're just not okay. And that's why it makes it so difficult. So once I got the answer to that question, what's missing? The mental side, that's when I decided to create Mind Body Alignment, my one on one coaching program for women to truly understand what it takes and and learn the skills and tools to become exactly who you want to be. And what it takes is knowing who you are, your identity. And you are in complete control of your identity. And you will soon learn that in this podcast setting because I am determined to teach it to you here. Okay? And then your identity controls your mindset and your mindset and your identity control your actions. It's all connected. But identity is certainly the foundation. Now going back to my community when I was asking those questions and it finally all clicked like it's mental side, what really stood out to me is women don't know who they are. And that's what I always heard during my pregnancy. And that's why this all started with my pregnancy because everyone was saying, you're going to lose yourself, you're not going to know who you are. And I didn't want that to happen. So I got committed and determined to learn how to understand who I am. And in that I found out, you know, I didn't even know who I was back then before I got pregnant. And I had to learn these things. And it's a constant daily practice for sure. And it is something that I plan on teaching you here. But if you are sitting there right now saying, I don't know who I am, I have a negative mindset. I am not my own best friend. Think about your health journey. Does it make sense why it's such a struggle to do a workout? It's such a struggle to prep some snacks out for yourself. If you don't love yourself, why on earth would you take care of yourself? Once we put it into words like this, knowing who you are and your mindset and the skills like setting a boundary and how important they are, it kind of makes sense why our health journey is the way it is. And let's talk about numbing for a second, because that's something we'll for sure be exploring in this podcast setting. If you're numbing and you're coping with things, is emotional eating when you experience shame or a trigger of some form. And then you trigger yourself by saying, God, I'm such a screw up. What is wrong with me? It's only January 2nd. I'm already messing this up. Like I thought I was committed this time. That's it. I knew it. I knew I'm so inconsistent. I knew I couldn't do this. I knew this X, Y and Z about myself. What are you going to do? After all that negative self talk and you've turned on yourself and you are, like everyone says, your own worst critic. What are you going to do? You're going to go eat emotionally because that's your numbing. There's nothing wrong with you. You've learned how to numb and you're trying to do it because you don't know how to process. But I'll let you in on a secret. Once you learn how to process your emotions, you're just eating. It's not emotional eating. You just eat. They're different things. And you can, my friend, my sweet, beautiful friend, you can learn how to process your emotions without the use of food. But you're going to have to take it back and better understand who you are. Not only who you are, who you believe you are, who you want to be and how to bridge that gap. And that's what I'm here to help you do. And that's the power of Mind Body Alignment. Understanding your mind, taking ownership and control over who you are so that you can go through a physical health journey that includes the exercise and the nutrition that you desire, but in a meaningful way that you will stay consistent. Now, this did start for me during my pregnancy, but I continue to work on myself daily. I've been through another pregnancy and I have healthy pregnancies and I'm very thankful for that. But it really is all in the mind. The mind is what's so powerful and that's why my program is called Mind Body Alignment and I will include in the notes below figure out how to do this because I am a beginner. I'll include in the notes more details on my coaching program if it's something that you're interested in, but make sure you come around here next week for for our first real coaching session diving into your identity. It will be the first one of several episodes focusing consistently on your identity before we move forward, going through mindset, self love, self talk and things like that. It is such a wonderful privilege of mine to be here with you in this space and I hope that you find all the value out of our time together.
