No, I’m not talking about yoga. #couples #educational #notyoga #yoga

Angel Ardito shares three habit changes that improved her couples yoga practice: stop comparing your relationship to social media's curated version, let go of expecting every session to be perfect, and communicate honestly about discomfort instead of pretending you're fine.

Things that I stopped doing to improve my couple's yoga life. I stopped comparing my relationship to social media. Please, please, please try to remember that most of what you see on social media is completely fake, fabricated, embellished, exaggerated— whatever word you want to use. And even if the moments that you're seeing on social media are authentic, a lot of people leave out the rough, messy human parts of their relationships. If you're constantly comparing your relationship with your partner to relationships that you're seeing online, You will never be happy. 2, I stopped expecting every yoga experience to be mind-blowing. In long-term relationships, your yoga life is going to expand and change and alter over time. It's going to turn into something that you have to put effort into rather than just happening spontaneously. Obviously, we all want those mind-blowing experiences from time to time, but it's okay if sometimes you're both tired and overworked and stressed and it's not all that it's cracked up to be in media. Our expectations for what things should or shouldn't be is often what causes problems. And 3, I stopped pretending I was fine when I wasn't. This one is huge. Oftentimes we can have little moments of discomfort or insecurity while we're engaging in couples yoga, and we just kind of try to push it aside because we're worried about ruining the moment. Maybe there's a pillow that's kind of tweaking our back a little bit. Maybe we're getting a foot cramp or some pain in our neck. Maybe we're feeling really self-conscious about the way that we look. Whatever it is that you're feeling in the moment, I think that it's so important to honor that and be open honest about it. If you and your partner truly want to have connected yoga sessions with each other, it's important for both of you to be presenting yourselves as who you are in that moment. And if you're not fine, it's okay to say you're not fine. Really good yoga partners know how to take that information, adjust accordingly, and then get back into it. Overall, I just made this video to basically say that the less pressure that I put on intimacy, the better it became. That's all I have for today. Until next time, stay spicy.
