Welcome to the Soul of Innovation Podcast. I'm your host, Thomas Anglero, and I was speaking at a conference of 1,300 people last week, and it reminded me of a very important lesson. This moment right now is your moment. This moment right now It's the moment you've been living for. How's that perspective?
How's that?
Boom, just jump right into it.
This moment right now is the moment that you've been dreaming about.
Oh, isn't that an amazing thought?
Think about it, think about it, think about it. You know, it's not— I, you know, you're not like when you were in college or in high school, you were waiting for that graduation day to at least in the United States, you put on a cape and a hat and you turn the tassel to the other side. That's the moment I've been dreaming of. Boom! Wrong perspective. Life tricked you. Every moment is your moment. And think about what a powerful gift to give somebody, to give yourself. Every moment is my moment. I am not a victim. I am a champion. I'm a successful person. I'm an influencer. I am the completeness of what I've always dreamt of. Having that moment, do you know what type of magnetism you would have with people around you, when you would just walk around with that awesome amount of confidence, and it's within you. Let me give you different perspectives to wake you up to the power within you. Your past is not you. Where you've been is not you. Your failures, the, the sicknesses, the horror, the grief— oh, none of that in the past is you. That's the past. Those things that happened to you, they were horrible.
I'm not saying they weren't, and I am sorry, but those things happen. And one of the reasons why they happen was so that you would grow from it and you would say to yourself, you know what, I gotta wake up. This is my moment. I can't let that stuff stop me. I can't let that stuff not fulfill my moment, my current moment. Look at every adversity in life, every negative, every challenge as something to say, hey you, come on, are you existing right now? Are you optimizing this moment right now? Is this who you meant to be right now? Right now, right now, right now.
Woo! How about that?
It's not exhausting, it's exhilarating. Exhilarating. I love that word because it's big, it's powerful, it's fluffy, and it's colorful. Exhilarating. Your life is exhilarating. Every time there's a negativity, that's exhilarating. Every time there's a challenge, exhilarating. Every time your boss pisses you off, it's annoying, but it's exhilarating. Think about it. Every time the person you love or you thought they loved you and something happens that pisses you off is exhilarating because you have a moment, you have a chance to do it again, to make it better, to, to fulfill yourself.
Maybe they're not the right person.
That's okay. Life is exhilarating. That means there's someone else out there looking to love you. But first, of course, you got to love yourself. This is your moment.
The moment's not coming. That's the lie. I swear to you, some of the people who are the most powerful people in this world, they have a wonderful playbook because they figured it out. And maybe it was their parents who passed on, or their— I don't know who passed it on, but the playbook in life is quite simple. Every one of us has a powerful gift, and it's called us, our confidence to ourselves. If everyone walked around with that confidence, their internal confidence coming out, you know what would happen? We have the most amazing world. Because with all that confidence, and I'm not talking ego, that's a totally different thing. Ego is the lack of self-confidence that we look with, with a layer of ego on top to hide the lack of self-confidence. So ego is just a blown-up insecurity. That's all ego is. It comes nothing from confidence, is the antithesis of confidence, the exact opposite. When people walk around with confidence, then they have no problem helping someone who's hungry or poor, someone who's needing of love and a hug. We would have— we would solve all our problems. And I'm telling you, this would be the most amazing place in the world. The entire planet would be one rocking party. We wouldn't worry about who has and who doesn't have. Who cares? I got confidence. Need my car? Take it. I got confidence I'll get another one. Bring it back.
I trust you. I got confidence.
How much confidence do you have? Do you understand? It's all about you and your confidence. This moment right now, be confident. Everything is dynamic, is going to happen to you. Confidence. Confidence is everything. When I was on that stage, moments before I walked on that stage, you know I was like, what? Who am I to be—
to, to, to, to, to be the keynote speaker to 1,300 people who've never met me? I never met them.
Who am I? And as I went up those steps, you know, they have the big black curtain, and you go up the steps and you walk out from behind the curtain, and boom, you're on stage in front of 1,300 people.
And in that moment, as I went up those steps, I was like, oh yeah, I know who I am. Oh baby, I know who I am. Confidence. Confidence comes from knowing that this is my moment, and every moment is my moment. This is my moment to love 1,300 people. This is my moment to enlighten 1,300 people. This is my moment to give 1,300 people the perspective of this is their moment. How's that? Powerful, isn't it? This is your moment. Be confident. This is that moment you've been waiting for. Every moment's the moment you've been waiting for. God, that's the most powerful perspective I can ever think of. A part of me's kind of shaking, like, whoa, that's heavy. Here we are. This is your moment. Self-confidence. You're in college, exams all the time, homework all the time, incredible amount of reading. Maybe you're an athlete, you got competitions as well. How do you balance life?
You say, do it with confidence. Never give up. You are going to fulfill all the dreams that you have right now. Have confidence, damn it. Confidence is everything. And all you have to do is a mental thought of saying, I am confident. And don't bullcrap yourself. Don't be down. What's to be down? There's no reason to be down. You're a little overweight, so is everybody else. There's all these insecurity things. Let them go. Confidence. Use my voice. Use the energy in my voice and tell yourself, I am confident. Confidence is everything. You may not know how to read, you may not know that, that job skill, but you're going to because you're confident. When I came from Lower East Side, I didn't have anything, but I was confident that I would have Everything. Confidence is what gets you where you need to go to fulfill your destiny. Confidence is you, is your moral right, is what you were born with. Confidence. This is your moment. Be confident. Everything is yours.
Be confident and give love to everybody with confidence. How's that for a perspective? How's that make sure that you succeed, that you fulfill everything?
With all the stuff going on in the world, with the politics and everything like that, so what? It doesn't affect you. Okay, may affect you if you're one of these poor souls who, with this, uh, with the government shutdown and you're not being paid a salary. I am not saying time's easy now, but But boy, you better be confident because if you're sulking, that ain't gonna help you. You gotta pay those bills. Be confident. What is it that you dreamt of doing? What is it that you should be doing? What is it you always wanted to do? Do it now, man. This is that moment. This is that moment that the shutdown is there for you, baby. Come on, drive it. Drive it. Confidence. Confidence.
Confidence.
Our role models, those people we look up to, they always have huge amounts of confidence. What are they trying to tell you? What is the lesson there? To be confident. The most successful people in the world are confident.
That's key. That's your superpower. Your Confidence is unique to you. It's your own confidence. I've said this word enough. I've beaten this point to the ground because I want you from this moment on to walk, to breathe, to talk with confidence. This is your moment. It's not coming because it's here now. I love you to death. I am confident that you are amazing. Take care until the next time. Go forth and spread beauty and light.
