Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and you know, I was watching Street Food on Netflix last night. I think that sums up all of life. If there's a show that I cannot recommend strong enough is Street Food. And yes, it's all about different street food in different parts of Latin America. It's fantastic, even if you're not into food, but I think all of us are into food one way or another, we have to be. But the stories behind all these street vendors, because it's all about street vendors, because food is culture in all these Latin American countries, and the street vendors are are the artists, they are the famous chefs. It's not about the restaurants, it's about the street vendors who capture the culture, they capture the music, capture the sound of the people. And every person, every vendor they interviewed said that the way they made it, their hardship, their failures, that finally they became successful and globally recognized was at the moment that they believed in themselves no matter what. Every single vendor in every single episode in Bolivia, Colombia, um, I think Argentina was another one, they all suffered, they all had failures, they all had people who swindled them and they had nothing left. They were left behind with a single kid, they were a single parent, And the key was that they said, "I've got to do this. I believe in me. It doesn't matter no one else believes in me. I believe in me. I can do this." That intensity, that utter commitment to yourself is the moment that their life change and success happened. So many times in this podcast I have said, over and over and over, that you must believe in you. You cannot have doubt. You have to get to that point. You have to stand at the edge of that cliff, and I'm talking about a big-ass cliff with a huge drop-off, and have your toes hanging off, and you got to say, "I believe in me. I can do this." At that extreme, when you're at that extreme, then nothing's going to stop you. That level of confidence in yourself where your back is up against the wall, that is what it takes to succeed. And you know, I say that now very much so because I constantly have to remind myself as well, you know. My kids are growing up and they're asking me that big question, which is, what should I do for the rest of my life? And my answer to them is, it's not about that big, you know, for the next 50 years I want to— if you can't do life that way. And what I tell them is, right now, what is it that you're absolutely obsessed with? Go for it 100%. Be the best that's ever existed or will ever exist in that thing that you're in love with right now. Being the ultimate version of yourself, absolutely going 100%. Doesn't matter, don't look for a role model, just go, just do, do, do, do. And you keep on in that state of mind of that you believe in you and that this thing, this collecting rocks, this collecting seashells that are only with a purple haze on the inside, this counting of oyster shells, the most Whatever it is, it may seem ridiculous to others, but it is your path. It is your path. It is your conditioning to get you to be this ultimate doer that society loves, that society does not have enough of. Look around you. How many people around you are doers? Look around you right now in your family. How many people all day long are just doing, doing, doing? They don't care about what other people think about them. You may have one, you may have two, you may probably don't have any. That's the key. And back to the Netflix show of Street Food, something so harmless in the name, something so simple, I found the same answer, the same key to life, is just believe in you. With 100% commitment, no hesitation. That is it. I want you to take a moment now and just ask yourself, what is it that I'm obsessed with right now? What is it that I want to do no matter what? Do you have a new job? What kind of person are you going to be? What kind of person have you always envisioned yourself to be? What kind of ultimate leader have you always pictured yourself to be?
Do you go—
are you going to school for the first time? You're going away for college? What kind of student do you want to be? What is that person that you always wanted to be, you know, that you wanted people to be— hang around with? Have you lost your job? Or you're about to lose your job. What is it that you always wanted to do? Now do it. You see, it's just about attitude. It is just about attitude and belief in you. Get attitude and believe in you, and you're gonna have a most incredible, incredible life. Go forth, spread beauty, light, Believe in yourself. You're it. And if you need inspiration, go on Netflix and watch Street Food from Latin America. It's a beautiful show, beautiful people. But listen to the stories. Every single person became world famous. They're still street vendors. They're not rich, but they're put in all these international books on cooking of the great cooks of the world. And they're street vendors in Bolivia, and they're still broke, but they became that famous. They have people traveling from all over the world just to eat their food, sharing their love, because they said, "This is who I am. This is what I love to do right now." Do what you love to do right now, and you too will fulfill your destiny. Destiny. I love you, and until next time.
