Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and I have a mantra for you that once it's permanently placed in your head, it will change your life. And the mantra is: Do harder, better. I repeat it.
Do harder, better.
What does that mean? It means that life is always going to be hard. Relationships are always going to be hard. Bosses are always going to be idiots. People are always going to frustrate you. Things will not come easy. Life is hard.
And so to get the most out of life, for you to be happy, for you to excel, for you to be that person that you— when you look in the mirror and you see that, you look at yourself and you go, yes, I'm that person, I'm that guy, I'm that woman, I am that thing—
you're gonna have to do harder, better.
Stop making excuses. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. People, if you look around you People are less nice today than they've ever been because people want life to be easy. Everything has been going so well in the markets, in business, all that. If there is no friction, how do you know you are good at anything? If you only get trophies for showing up, how do you know you're good at all? When we grew up, you didn't get a trophy competing in a baseball, basketball, football, soccer, whatever sport, whatever name you call it. You had to win something and not just win a game. You had to win a series of games over the course of many weeks and many months and eventually get to a final tournament that you played against the best of the best. And eventually at the end of that tournament, now you're bruised, exhausted, tired. You maybe Got a pat on the back. But if you were not lucky, but if you grinded, if you did harder, better, you didn't feel sorry for yourself, you pushed really hard, you knew you were better than everybody else, you showed everybody you're better than everybody else, you excelled, you went beyond your dreams, you made your parents proud, you made yourself proud, you made the crowd proud of you, you made new friends, you have people envying you, you ended up with maybe a trophy, but you ended up with pride. You ended up with self-confidence. You ended up with a vision that you said, I am that person because you did harder, better. Life is not going to get easy.
You have to do harder, better.
I have so many stories, so many people with just this. No one seems to be happy. Everybody is just, you know, People cannot make eye contact anymore, and they're wondering why they're so alone. They're wondering why nobody sees them.
If you can't make eye contact, how the hell you expect to even exist on this planet? Don't be afraid of other people. Don't be afraid of yourself. Don't be afraid to go into your boss and tell him what you think, what you feel.
Do harder, better.
Make your life better by doing the hardest things better. Don't complain, grind. The only way we're to get through this place where we're at— we see the stock market is going to crap, there's a new president in the United States and things are getting very different with him in place. Things are getting what? Let me hear it.
Harder.
And the only way you're going to excel is to do what?
Better.
Got it?
Do harder, better.
No one's going to help you. There's going to be no one coming in on a white horse to save you. Absolutely no one. There's going to be no one to pay your bills. There's gonna be no one to give you a hug. There's gonna be no one to spontaneously take away your pain. There's gonna be no one who's gonna help you to eat better, feel better. It's all on you. Go forth and spread beauty and light. This is not a punishment. This is a blessing. Do harder, better, and you'll be unstoppable. It's a mindset. It's not a punishment. It's a gift. It's a gift of invincibility.
Do harder, better.
I love you. This is Thomas Anglero. Until next time.
