Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and let me ask you, has this time of COVID being locked up at home, not able to go out, not able to see people, this list that we all have— do you have that list? That list that you replay over and over in your head? And really what that list is doing is making you feel sorry for yourself. How sorry do you feel for yourself right now? Because you're locked up, because you can't get out, can you? Can't see friends. And then when you do go out, you tell people, God is great, to see new people. How many of you feel so sorry for yourself? Let's flip this around. Why are you feeling sorry for yourself? This is the greatest opportunity you've ever had to reset you. Every facet about you, everything about you that you don't like, that you regret, that you wish you could do better, whether it be physical, emotional, mental, relationships, diet, you name it. You have had a chance for the past year to fix it. And at the end of this year, You're feeling sorry for yourself. Why? This is a hard message because I'm seeing way too much now where people have lowered the bar for themselves so damn low that not even a mouse can get underneath it. Everything is poor me, poor me, pity me. Oh, this is horrible. And yet they look around and they envy other people. They constantly envy people. Some of their most secret thoughts are envying other people. And some of the most obvious thoughts when I talk to them is that they really do envy everybody. Oh, so many people have it better than me. Oh, I wish. Oh, I can't wait till it goes back. Stop. What the hell have you done yourself this past year? Have you invested your free time? You've had a lot of more free time, haven't you? Have you invested that free time in making you the person that you've always wanted to be, or making the person that you always envy? Maybe it's not that you, but it's the other person. Have you? I've had so many talks recently, and I give them— I think back, I've had so many talks the last months. One person, she told me, you know, now's the time because of COVID we've been locked up. Now's the time for me to forgive myself. I really shouldn't beat myself up. And I remember doing a podcast on that a couple of months ago, whatever. And I said the same exact thing, don't beat yourself up during the time of COVID But that's for a moment. You know, there's some days you are down, some days this thing gets to you. I get that. And for that moment, don't beat yourself up. This is tough. Absolutely, no doubt. But you don't make it a damn life mantra. You don't forgive yourself for everything and just, "I give up. I gotta forgive myself. Oh, I just can't take this bad. No, no, I really gotta be nice to myself." And that's all you think about, and that's where you stay. Are you stupid? Are you stupid? Is that what you've done to your life? Think about all the years you went to school as a kid, high school, college, all the people you met, and here you are at whatever age you are and you are feeling sorry for yourself. Seriously, what happened to the ambition to thrive, the energy, the vision to be, to do, to exist, and you ended up right now, this moment, feeling sorry for yourself? Do you know people like that? This is the greatest moment ever to excel because everyone else is feeling sorry for themselves. So what does it take for you to be that super rocket, that shining star bursting through the sky, that influencer, that person that everybody looks up to, that person that you've always envisioned, the person that you see on TV or on YouTube or on Netflix That's you. But all you gotta do is get off your ass and do something. Time, you know, the time is getting really late for you. I know this is really hard, but I'm being serious. I am done. I am done talking to people who have jobs. And if you have a job, you don't know how lucky you are. So many people don't have any jobs. They lost everything during COVID They're unemployed. Times, life is rough. But I've been talking to people who have jobs and they're whining. They don't understand how lucky they are. And those people who don't have jobs and are in this horrible situation wondering, how am I going to feed my family? I can't pay these bills and all that stuff. Oh my God, I feel so sorry for you. My heart and soul go out to you. But if you're in that situation and you're feeling sorry for yourself, do you think that shit's going to make you get any better? Do you think the situation will get better 5 minutes from now, 5 days, 5 months from now? You could be worse. This is action time. This is action time. The Great Reset is for us to go, go, go, go, go. I talk to people and I have this high energy level. I'm ready. I'm not ready. I'm going. I'm not waiting. I'm going. Got an idea? Do it. And people look at me now today as if I'm out of my damn mind. They think I'm out of of my mind. That's number one. Number two thing I see when I look into their pupils is they're going, "Is he crazy? Why is he doing these things?" They don't understand why I'm even doing things. When's the last time you've done something? When's the last time you did something that nobody else has done? When's the last time you just did something you felt you wanted to do it? Are you there? Why aren't you there? Why aren't you there? No one, absolutely no one has held you back. Look around you right now. Is there anybody standing behind you, pushing you down, holding you down? Unless you got a kid, especially if they're under 4, they're always holding on to the legs, but that's cute as hell. Unless you have a child, a young child you have to take care of, that's the anchor that you have to focus on. But other than you people out there listening who have young children, who you must focus and prime and actually are the most important thing in your lives, other than them, none of you have an anchor. Your anchor are your mind and your thoughts and your emotions. You've anchored yourself to your past. You anchored yourself to your pity. No one— look around you, there's nobody holding you back. There's no holding back from doing more push-ups, sit-ups, more going for a walk, going for a run, for going for a bike. Matter of fact, lay on the floor. Look at the floor that's around you right now. Lay on that damn floor with your eyes up and think, who am I? What do I want to do? Look around you. There's no one holding you. The floor isn't holding you. Floor doesn't have hands. No one's stopping you. So what the hell are you doing? What are you achieving? Who are you? Let's go, people. I talk to people all the time and it's getting worse. It's deer in headlights all the time. When you're on a Zoom meeting or Google Meet, I don't care what platform, Webex, whatever you're using, do me a favor. Look at yourself while you talk and see what people see. Why don't you video capture that thing and do a video capture every month and And watch your digression. People, we got to light up. This is your time. Just don't do your job to do your job. This is the time, you know, we are going to get through this COVID. We're going to get through all this stuff. And all of the leaders, everyone, non-leaders and everybody, they're all going to say, you know, throughout that whole time, this person did this, this, this. Then you all of a sudden, that person is going to be a leader. That person is going to be a visionary. That person is going to be the person that's going to be highlighted. That could be you. But not if you are feeling sorry for yourself and you're saying, this is a time where I can't beat up myself. It's a really hard time. Are you serious, man? I'm done with it. I'm done with it. I'm pushing hard and I'm pushing harder. I'm doing the craziest stuff I can. If you guys are out there and, uh, you listen to that new app— what the hell's the name of this new app that I'm in love with? Clubhouse. If you're on Clubhouse, go on Clubhouse Wednesday morning, 7:30. Here's my plug. I never plug. 7:30 European time every morning. Just started launching that service. Just launched a new program. Going for it, man. Didn't ask permission, just doing it. Got some great people telling stories, 7:30 in the morning while you eat your breakfast and coffee. Boom. Telling stories just to enlighten the world, right? And this is more technical talk and stuff, but But just do. What crazy idea? Why stop yourself, right? What's the next thing? Have you guys picked up an instrument, played an instrument? I'm going all over the place because I'm— there's no limitation to the amount of ideas I could throw out right now. And the question is, why don't you just do one of them? One that drives you, right? What drives you? No more excuses. None, none whatsoever. I love you all. I'm frustrated with you all because I want all you— I want you to have enough and say, I have enough for myself. I have enough with this pity. I've had enough with society. I've had enough with not seeing people. I've had enough of being— I've enough of enough of enough, enough, enough. And now open your damn eyes. Your eyes have been closed. The eyes that are open, that lead all the way down to your soul. Open up those eyes, those big eyes that you have. And do— and do— no one's going to criticize you. Matter of fact, everybody's going to criticize you because everybody's criticizing everybody now because nobody's doing a damn thing. This is your damn moment. Do you understand me? And as COVID comes to an end and we go back to this different level of complacency, maybe even worse than where it was before— oh, this could be a mess— if you have not elevated yourself, you're stuck in the mud of the quicksand. People, this is your moment. I'm saying it over and over again, this is your moment. This is your moment. This truly is. Please do and be. Stop whining. Go for it. I am your biggest fan. You know, I always tell people, you know, a person is a real friend. A true friend is a friend who will tell you to your face that you're wrong and that you better check yourself. That's a true friend. A true friend is someone who always yeses you, who makes you feel better. If you call someone when you're upset because you want to know that person can make you feel better, that may not be your true friend. A real friend, a true friend, is the person you call and that person says, "You should be crying because you've been lazy." 'Cause you haven't got off your ass. 'Cause you know you could do better. Now stop crying and do something. I'm your true friend. You've been lazy. It's time to get off your ass. It's time for you to go do something. The love, the happiness, the joy, the hugs that you've been seeking are all literally moments away. But you have to do something. You can't just sit there and do what you've been doing. You can't walk your dog every day. You can't just pet pet your cat, and all this bullshit. They ain't gonna get you anywhere. Do those things you've always dreamt of, and I guarantee you, I guarantee you, it's gonna come to fruition. You can experience the highs, the love, the lows, the moments that define life. Life is defined by moments. If you have the same moment every single day, then you by definition do not have a life. And most of us are stuck in that every single day is the same damn thing, and therefore we don't have a life. Live life, take a chance, risk. And what you're risking is what? Nothing. There is no failure today, because nobody's doing anything, so no matter what you do, you can't fail. It's a global problem, and you are the global solution. I love you from the bottom of my heart, from deep within. My soul. This is Thomas Anglero, talking to you like a true friend. Get off your ass and kick ass. Until next time.
