Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero. And can you truly say that people have heard your voice? Have you spoken up? Let me explain to you what I'm talking about. Yesterday I was at a location where it was a bit uncomfortable. These people had done something incorrect when parking their car. So usually I don't say anything, just let it go. It's not like anything was bad, but I said, "The hell with this. I need to tell them." But not to be rude or anything like that. I just thought, "Let me go talk to them." And in that moment of engaging them, these total strangers, I saw the tension in their eyes, their faces, because of COVID everybody's freaked out. Everybody said, "Don't come near me, don't talk to me." And then I explained to them how they had parked incorrectly and how if they moved their car a little bit, they actually would benefit a lot. And they got it and they appreciated it and they were so thankful. And what I saw in their eyes was The threat was not a threat. The threat was actually coming to give a gift. In this time of COVID in this time of coming out of COVID matter of fact, before, after, during, whatever, your voice, your presence amongst other people, people may see it as a threat. They may interpret you as a threat. Because you're physically different, because maybe you're a woman in a man's world, or maybe you're a very large man in a very small man's world. People always take you as a threat, but it's your voice, that inner you, who you are, your gift of touching people, that you care for people. That what you have to say is to help people, that will transpire and build a bridge into their hearts. Your voice is your message. Your voice is you. Your voice is who you are. If you do not speak your voice, how does anyone benefit. It's profound to think that our voice is really why we're here. Yes, actions speak louder than words, but your voice makes all the difference in our lives. You have to speak your voice. You have to speak from who you are and where you stand. You don't have to scream or yell. You speak from your soul. You speak those words, you speak those feelings, you speak those emotions, and you make your presence known. I vowed to myself after that— and by the way, when I did it, it's not like I'm afraid of talking to people. Matter of fact, I'm not. But in that moment, I did it without hesitation because I thought it would be a conflict. And it wasn't. I called my own bullshit. I vowed to myself that I will not shut up anymore. I will walk into the darkness. When I feel that I should not talk, I will talk. That is my voice that is the gift. My presence that is the gift. It is your presence that is your gift. It is your voice that is your gift. It is your mind, it's your ideas, it's your thinking that is your gift. You are the gift to everyone. I'm serious. You are. But we spend so much time You spend so much time inside your own head, you spend so much time thinking, that you keep your voice quiet. Every time we think, think of it, every time we think, that is the exact opposite of talking, because we're thinking. But if you think too much, then the equivalent you're saying is, "I don't talk at all." But of course, when you talk, you still have something articulate to talk about, so therefore you need to think. Now I'm in a conundrum, isn't it? But my point is, talk, touch people, practice touching people, practice being you. Your voice is your gift. And vow like me from this moment on, talk. You're at a store, talk at the cash register. Hello, how are you? I was walking around yesterday, and these old men walked by me. We were on a very narrow road, only two of us. And as they walked by me, no aikido, they looked the other way, I yelled out, "Hello!" And they were like, "Hurr, hurr, hurr, hurr." Imagine, imagine, what mental place are they? That if you're only two people on the street and you're walking to each other, there's no one else around at all, of course you're gonna say hi. But if you don't say hi, if you prepare not to say hi and you prepare to turn your back to that individual, who are you then? You're the opposite of no voice. You are no existence. So this is what I want you to go do. I want you to go forth and spread your beauty and your light and your voice with everyone. Every person you pass, every person you see. Now, if you're locked up in self-quarantine and all that horrible stuff that is driving all of us crazy, understand this: that one, you need to get out and go for a walk. Don't be freaked out. To whoever you see, you talk to. Right now, more than ever, people need you and your voice. We're all afraid of talking to each other. We're all afraid of seeing each other. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Fear, fear, fear, fear, fear, fear. Your voice is a difference. Those people who speak up, people like you, when you speak up now, you will be who you were meant to be. And the moment after. Use your voice. Be your voice. Your voice is your soul. This is Thomas Anglero, and I truly do love you. I believe in you, and I want to hear your voice. Until next time.
