Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and I am excited to be here with you because I have a question to ask you. When you arrive in your office in the morning, if you're in school and you go come to school and you arrive in your classroom, do you have this expectation of like Wow, what is, what is, what is the, what is, what is the energy I'm going to get from the office today? What are people up to today? What is this company going to do for me today? What is my teacher going to excite me with today? Um, what is this school going to provide us in activities and music or food or outdoor events? At the job, uh, what kind of assignment am I get? What kind of project am I get? What kind of compliment I get? Are you always in this receiving mode? What's wrong with you? Why is it that people have to give you anything? Let me tell you a story. This past week I've been watching someone who finally came back to work. We're still in the days of post-COVID. If you're listening to this years later, and this is this gentleman's first day back, first week back to work. And he's completely in. This is disappointing. He's walking around. This sucks. He's walking around negative, negative stories. He's happy that he's not home, but now he's in the office like, oh, this is horrible. People, don't you get it? You are the office. You are the excitement. You are that amazing new project. If you're a student, you are that thing you've been looking forward to. You are that light and energy that the teacher wants to give and share with everybody. You are the excitement of that outdoor activity that the entire school is going to pay attention to. Don't you get it? You are it. It is your energy, your agenda, your focus, you who lights up everyone else. I'm in shock when I watched this guy the whole week sulking, a grown man sulking, whining. And even what was worse, he was whining to himself that the office and the company hasn't provided with this great comeback. Let's say you come back to the office. Let's say your school teacher provides you with candy, waffles. Your employer supplies you with waffles as you enter the door on your first day back to work. You're like, yeah, this— you probably think, yeah, this is the least they could do for me. Right? As a student, yeah, teacher better do this for me. Let me ask you, who the hell do you think you are? Why does anyone have to do anything for you? Why isn't that you are completely, totally obsessed with doing everything for everybody else? Your energy, your love, your focus, you, just you. Look, look in the mirror right now. Look into a mirror right now. Look into your eyes. Gehet, look into your eyes. Do you see those eyes? Those are the eyes that we all see. When we look into your eyes, we're expecting from you to light up our world, for you to provide the excitement in our lives. You see, Most everyone is looking at everyone else's eyes and expecting that other person to excite them, entertain them, to provide interesting things for them. Don't you get it? What you expect of others, others expect of you, and this circle goes round and round and round and nothing gets done. But here's the beautiful flip side to that story. You want to be the most exciting person in your office, the most interesting person, most talked about person, most liked person. Do you want to be the most interesting, talked about, liked person in your school, most respected person in your office or classroom or whatever? That's easy. Be you. Be that exciting person that you want to hang out with. You probably have a picture in your head right now. When I get to the office, I want to be with this type of person who's got this energy, who talks this way, who has these ideas, and all that. You just drew out the person who you are. You just described it. You literally just described you. Now all you got to do is stand up and be it. It's so easy. Describe to yourself who's the most amazing, or what is the most amazing character, person, personality, intellectual, funny. Who is it? Describe that person. Then take a moment and laugh to yourself that you just described you. Now be it. Walk into that office and be yourself, that perfect description of that person you just described. Walk into that classroom in school and be that perfect self, your perfect you, that person you just described to yourself. Isn't it funny? The answer the people were looking for It's within you, always has been. This doesn't cost anything and doesn't take years to find him, find her. It's right there in front of you. Go back to the mirror. Listen to this podcast again, this time in front of a mirror. I want you to look into your eyes as you listen to this podcast. And realize it's all about you. It's always been about you. The excitement and love you're looking for is within you, and everyone around you will be like a magnet to you. See, you've always been this exciting thing that we've been waiting for, this wonderful breath of fresh air, this living hug that just enters a room or enters a classroom or an office, and everyone goes, oh, he or she is here. You're here, you're here. That's who you are. Look in your eyes now. Look in the mirror and look at yourself. Look in your eyes. There you are, that amazing you that we all want to be with. Go forth and spread beauty and light. Love yourself and then allow all of us to love you too. Don't be afraid. Don't be embarrassed. You gotta put on a few kilos, so what? Few gray hairs, So what? No hair? So what? Wrinkles? So what? Too short, too tall? So what, so what? It's all good. Because what it all matters is when we look into your eyes. I only see you. I don't see all that other "so what" stuff. You. I love you, and I always will. And you'll never, ever be alone. Take care of yourself, and love as many people as you can. And most importantly, Love yourself. Give yourself a hug right now. Okay. Love you. Until next time. Thank you for listening to that episode.
