Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and I want to remind you, and if you don't know, I want to tell you that you must be the champion of yourself. You must be your biggest inspiration.
You have to be your best and loudest cheerleader for yourself, for your belief, for who you are. Let me tell you, I am walking around now.
We are post-COVID, or COVID is coming to an end here in June of 2021. And people are looking so—
well, they're looking— people are looking at each other.
They're expecting.
They're like, what is this person like?
What is that person like?
What am I supposed to be like? How am I supposed to react? How am I supposed to dress? What's in style? What are people doing? Nothing about their own selves. Who the hell are you? What drives you? What makes you walk down the street with a beat?
Mm, mm, mm. What makes you feel good about you? Is it the way you skip down the street?
Is it that you like to smile when you're going down the street 'cause you're just happy with a happy thought? When you walk down the street, when you leave your house, Do you spend even a iota of a second thinking about what other people think about you or going to think about you, then you're living your life through the eyes of others and you're not, not living your life.
Right now, this is the biggest opportunity in the world to change the world. You can change the world because no one is changing anything. Everyone's looking at everyone else and we're sheep. One sheep goes to the fence, all the other sheep go to the fence.
One sheep stops to eat, the other sheep stop to eat.
And this is what's happening. We're all spinning on the same circle. And when the world is that way, then it's so easy for be you. But then you get criticism. You're going to be criticized by others. Let's look at Elon Musk's Tesla. Let's be honest, when Tesla started, the few people who knew about him were like, what is this kid or young older man, right? He was a kid when he started PayPal and nobody believed in him then. He had a receding hairline.
I said, what the hell is this guy doing?
Now he's everybody's idol.
He stood up and said, I am my biggest cheerleader. I believe. I truly believe in me. I don't care what people think. I need to get this thing done. This is what I believe in. Do you walk down the street believing in you and what you believe in? Do you believe in you in the relationship you're in?
A friend of mine who listens to the podcast told me that in the podcast, all I kept on saying all I've kept on saying in the past is that I believe that people should stay together in the relationship when you're married. And I truly do. But I also believe that in a relationship you can't sell yourself. You have to be you. You have to always be you to be happy. And so that your other— your partner then can connect to that happiness.
And that person can't connect to that happiness if you being you drives that person away. Then the relationship relationship has been driven apart a long time ago. And then you need to take the next steps and stop wasting your life and stop wasting your time. You, if you're not married and you wake up in the morning and you're single or whatever place you are, maybe who cares what role player you are in life. You gotta be you, man. You have to be you. Say you're an 8-year-old kid, 6-year-old kid, 10-year-old kid, 13, 15. You have to be you. Do you hear me? I'm gonna repeat it again. You must be you. You do your thing. When people criticize you, you say, "Thank you very much for letting me know that I got your full attention, damn it. Thank you very much for letting me know that me being me stands out. Thank you very much for reaffirming that I am, I am." You gotta be you. You are your biggest cheerleader. You are the president of your fan club. You believe in you. This is your time right now. Do you hear me? You do not let anyone— matter of fact, close your eyes. If you were blind— and to those people who are blind out there, I have full respect for you— but if all of you, for those of us who have vision, if we were blind, then you could not see that other people were staring at you. You could not see that you were not wearing pink when everybody else was wearing red. Therefore, how would you live your life? You would do you, wouldn't you? Do you. Stop thinking about other people. This is your moment. Everyone's doing the same damn thing. Everyone's looking down in the ground when they walk down the street. You make eye contact with people, they look away. What the hell's wrong with people? This is your moment to be you. You, you're so close to exploding. I'm looking around, there's no one being authentic. No one.
Literally no one. Look around in your life. How many people in your life are authentic? Truly unique?
Well, this is an even bigger challenge.
How many people in your life, or even that you've heard of, are all of a sudden authentic and unique, that they were like sheep and all of a sudden they're just doing their thing. They're not many. So it's your time, baby. It's your time. Whatever you like, whatever way you breathe, whatever way you talk, If you got a little whiny voice like Mike Tyson, so what? World heavyweight champion. Nobody messes with that guy. So what? If you're tall and skinny, if you're short and overweight, so what? If you can't speak a foreign language well and you live in a foreign country, So what if you're unsure of yourself? So what if you're insecure? So what? So what? Do you be you? I promise you, you're going to be so damn happy. Do you know what it is to be you? And feel that way, that wonderful way when you're all alone in your private moments. Like, this is me, ah yeah, I can be myself right now. That's the way you're supposed to be all day long. You're not supposed to change personality, change clothes, change thought process. All that's to make other people happy, but they're not making you happy. Have you ever thought of it that way? You're going through all these changes, changing who you are to make other people happy. Let me ask you, when the hell have they changed to make you happy?
Hmm?
How often during the day do people come up to you and say, "You know what, I changed this, this, and this about me to make you happy"?
None!
It doesn't happen! So why the hell are you changing the way you are? The way you think, the way you dress, the way you walk, the way you eat, the way you sing? Do You go forth and spread beauty and light and yourself, your real self. I don't care if you have red hair, pink hair, blue hair, brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. It doesn't matter. None of it matters. The only thing that matters is that when you wake up in the morning, you keep on waking up and you keep on doing your thing. And the world is going to embrace it and love it because, God, we need you. Do you understand me? Whenever you have a moment of insecurity, whenever you have a moment that you feel that I can't do this, I'm scared, or whatever, just know that I love you. I truly do. I got your back. In these moments of insecurity, we just need to know that we're not alone, and you'll never be alone. I got you. I'm your biggest fan. Now do you. You got me? This is Thomas Anglero reminding you that you are everything. Now go show the world who you are. I love you. Take care of yourself and do you. Until next time.
