Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I'm your host, Thomas Anglero, and I'm in the middle of the summer now. These are the summer months, time to hopefully step back and then step back from what I step back from. What I mean from that is, have you taken the time that you have during this summer, if you're listening to this during the summer, or maybe you're listening to this on the weekend, or you're listening to this on the bus ride home from work, or in your car, have you taken the moments you need to clear your mind and just be yourself, to listen to what are the sounds that are going around you right now. One of the things that I've been doing, because I realized I needed it more than anything else— I needed, I needed it more than really eating, because I could go without eating for a couple of days, that's not a problem, it's just, uh, annoying. But anybody could do that. You gotta drink water, but you don't need to eat. Clearing your mind of everything. Right now, as you listen to me, what other sounds do you hear? Do you hear your kids in the background? Do you hear the sound of a motor of an engine? I hear birds tweeting, some guy cutting wood. I can hear a radio playing very low in the background. By me focusing in on the now, what I hear right now, What little sounds are blended with what sounds right now? What happens is I start focusing on me right now. This is called mindfulness. Mindfulness is simply focusing on you right now, but not on your agenda, not on your thoughts. See, the enemy are the thoughts. What I mean by that is this: when you— we're always thinking whenever we're walking someplace, when we're going someplace, sometimes when we're talking to people, we're still thinking. But our most creative side, the true side of ourselves, the best side of ourselves— and what I mean by the best, let me define the word best— the happiness, that true deep childish Tainted happiness is always there, right on the tip of our tongue, right on the edge of our skin, but we don't give it any attention because we're thinking so much about everything. Clear your mind of everything. And I know that's so damn hard to tell you. Easy to say, hard to do. I get it, because this is what I've been doing this summer. Is I've been clearing my mind, and man, is that hard. I've laid down and I've cleared my mind, and all of a sudden my right elbow jumps up in the air when I have a thought. I'm like, wow, what the hell was that, you know? Or my eyes open up real fast when I think about another thought, and I'm like, wow, the thoughts that I have, the thoughts that I have are causing me hell. And these aren't negative thoughts, these aren't thoughts like I've hurt somebody or anything like that, these are just normal Thoughts, things I gotta do, things I have to, um, haven't done, things I could do better, things that people have said. God, how about that one? Caring about what people say about you. God, what a waste of time. Thinking about the now, or not thinking at all. Listening to the birds chirping, listening to yourself, not to your words, not to your thoughts. But enjoying that flow. There's a flow within you. There's a flow that flows through your mind and through your body that is only yours and only you who feel. Find your flow. Find your flow and you will find your inner happiness. You find your flow by listening to all the sounds around you and not thinking any thoughts, any thoughts, nothing. Just clear that mind, clear that mind by just listening to the birds, listening to the car engine. I don't recommend listening to music because then you're listening to someone else's words. Listen to nothing because there's always sound in nature, there's always sound in the environment. Listen to that, and then I want you to feel your flow. Feel your flow. Your flow misses you. Your flow defines you. Feel your flow. I could keep going on this, but I think you need time just to feel you. Listen to the birds, listen to the sky, listen to the background noise, and then feel your flow. Have a beautiful, beautiful moment. And then have it again and again and again. You could have it anytime you want. It's yours and yours alone. It's your flow. I love you. Till the next time. Thank you for listening to that episode.
