Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I'm your host, Thomas Anglero, and I am in a somber, reflective mood because of the news I just got. I just found out that a very close friend of my family, a wonderful man, whose name is Joey. He— this past Saturday, um, Joey's an architect in New York City. Fantastic guy, fantastic man. Him and his partner Brian are amazing. They've hosted me and my family, my kids. I tell you, we had wonderful times with them. They are beautiful people. They— we spent a weekend together and they reminded me about how beautiful life is. They to the beach and we just relax. And, um, and it's just like, you know, those life memories. And I just found out— we just got an email that Joey has suffered a stroke this past weekend, and he has no movement in his right side of his body. Let me tell you, you must hear my words, hear my words. You must love the people that are in your life right now. You cannot wait and think that everything is going to be alright. These things happen and they're going to happen. You cannot get caught up with the stuff that's in your head, the problems that you think you have, the problems that are created because you're online and maybe you don't get enough likes or things like that, or your boss doesn't respect you, or all these things. Now seriously, do— does any of the problems that you have at work, does any of the problems you have at home, are any of those problems bigger than if someone you love is sick or worst case is no longer there? Put that in perspective. What, what is your life like alone? What is your life like having that someone you love being so incredibly sick or maybe not even being there or having them now having made potentially the rest of their lives being not able to do the things they can do, and potentially with his Joy situation, I'm not able to speak ever again. What are you gonna do? Think about the people who are in your lives right now that mean the most to you. And what happens that by the time this podcast is over, you get a message saying that that person suffered a stroke, heart attack, car accident? What is your life like now? Who are you now? In this moment that you're thinking about that, are your problems at work important anymore? Is you not being recognized relevant anymore? Love the people that are in your life right now. Tell them right now. I mean, literally right now. Pause whatever you're listening to and hearing my voice and just tell them. Then don't— maybe don't tell them, just go up and give them a hug. If they're doing something, just hug them from behind or hug them from the front or give them a kiss. Or if they're not physically near you Call them. Don't send a text message. Call them. If they are in your vicinity, go for a walk, jump on your bike, get in your car, take the freaking bus or the train and get to them. Don't— and invite yourself. Imagine this, someone that means something so much to you in the entire world, they don't live near you. They show up spontaneously at your door just to say I love you. Isn't that the most beautiful thing? Wouldn't you— or don't you want that to happen to you right now? Go do that for someone. Don't wait. Don't wait. Don't wait. The older I get, the older we get, the odds are there's somebody we know, who we know that means the most to us. These things are going to happen. We cannot wait. You cannot wait. Pull the car over if you're hearing my voice. And if you can't drive to them, you can't get to them, then call them. Don't wait. Love the people in your life right now. And if you have so many people in your life, make a list and tell every single one of them. My family is devastated, and the pain we're all feeling is something I don't want you to feel. And some of you right now are going through this. My message to you is too late. And I'm sorry. But you have my soul's dimpit sympathy. You do. I'm so sorry that you're in pain. I'm so sorry that someone you love is hurting. And I'm so sorry that you're hurting. I'm so sorry life is like this, that these horrible things that happen that wake us up. And God wished— the thing wished we could wake up without so much pain. And then it's too late. It's too late to have enjoyed the moments with them when they were healthy, when they were around, when they could respond. For those of you out there who are fortunate that the people in your lives are healthy or functional and able to respond at that level— I'm going to that level— please, for your sake and for theirs, tell them that you love them. Don't wait. Don't, don't feel the pain that so many of us are feeling now. Don't bring that into your life. Love them. Love yourself. This is Thomas Anglero. I apologize for not having an energetic podcast, but this is as important a message I could give you. The years go by, the days go by, the moments go by, and we spend so much time thinking about our situation. You can prevent that situation from being so lonely by knowing that you're giving as much love to everybody in your life as possible. For me, for you, for everyone. Do that right now. Go forth and spread beauty and light from the deepest recesses of your soul. Tell those people in your life, I love you. Until next time.
