Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and I want to highlight for you the fact that poverty is a mindset. Poverty is a mindset. It has nothing to do— yeah, it does have something to do with no money being in your pocket. Yeah, it has nothing— something to do, but you have no place to stay. Yeah, it has something to do with all these physical things and is a bitch, especially if you don't have food. Then poverty is a real bitch. I get it. That's not my point. My point is that you could get out of it when you change your damn mindset. Let me tell you a story what happened to me this weekend, and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about, how poverty is so many of the time self-inflicted. And where am I coming from is I've been there and I'm out of that crap, and I'm pissed off that I went face to face with this weekend with people I like, and I realized that is a mindset that they purposely put themselves there. This weekend I went to a place to get my car fixed. While I'm there, the guys, you know, they just moved to their new workshop, and I was all excited for them. And before they moved, I gave them advice on how to market it How to— when they move their workshop, throw a little party, have their old customers come back so that the word of mouth gets out there. All this marketing stuff. So I'm there this Saturday and I spend one hour at a time in their new office showing them what to do, explain them how to take their business to the next level. They have a brand new product that guarantees that the inside of your car will never have any bacteria. And these days of corona Or the future will always be some Corona-based something. Imagine the inside of your car guaranteed with the kids that you love, the people you love, that will be the most bacterial-free, parasitic-thing-free environment in your entire life. Exciting, isn't it? Fantastic product to have. Telling them all how to do this and to make sure that their future is taken care of. I also told them how to get the energy level up. And get excited about what's coming. One of the guys told the other guy, hey, you know, this guy is a professional motivator speaker. And they both looked at me and go, we got to stop this conversation because you're going to charge us. I just used an hour of my time giving them as much love as I can, information, everything. I wasn't going to charge them. We're friends, right? These guys stopped talking to me. One guy walked away because instantly they thought about money. The other guy took me to his desk. He goes, Thomas, I'm not going to charge you. I'm like, oh, okay. I spent an hour of my time. You guys wrote down everything I said. It's going to take your business to the next level. You guys are going to make— they're going to make a fortune.
And he goes—
then he goes, no, I'm not going to charge you. I'm going to charge your insurance company. I get a lot more money out of them. He went into the instant to scamming. Poverty is a mindset. Here I am giving these guys everything I got. I wasn't charged. I'm giving them love. I'm giving them information. They just moved to their new workshop. They're concerned if they're going to survive the next 2 months. And they come back to me with, yo, you're going to charge me 'Yo, I gotta make more money on you, and I'm scamming the insurance company.' Poverty is a mindset. What scam? What perspective do you have when you talk to people? Think about that. Are you from this perspective, always worried about, or somebody getting over on you, somebody taking advantage of you, and how you can make the most out of a moment? I know some of you don't, but others of you, do you ever slip to that? You are keeping yourself poor. Poverty is a mindset. Do you pay attention to what people say, or are you thinking about your own agenda while people are talking? Poverty is a mindset. Are you concerned and only think about yourself? When somebody asks you about how are you doing, you answer the question about telling how you're doing and you don't care to ask them how they're doing. Poverty is a mindset. Once you stop this and you see that we're all in this together, once you stop seeing your world being so damn small and being so damn obsessed with yourself— that is poverty. That leads to less income, less people in your lives life, less love, less opportunity for a better future, and stagnation in your mind. Poverty is a mindset. Look around you. Maybe you don't know anybody, but you see people who have wealth, you see people who have things, you have people— see people who are smiling. It's because they just think in a different and open way. They don't have that poverty mindset. It's okay every once in a while to slip to that. That's just about being a human, being insecure. That's okay. But to always be there, to spend an hour— for me to spend an hour with you and to give you all this information, and then the moment you go, oh my God, this guy can make— he's gonna charge us, and stop and run and then go scam my insurance company. Holy crap, how poor are you? And do you think those guys are ever going to get out of that hole? Never. What hole are you in? What mindset do you come from? What perspective you have that keeps you where you're at? Poverty is a mindset. Do you get it? It is a state of mind. Yes, if you don't have food. Yes, if you don't have clothes. Yes, you don't have money. Yes, you're unemployed. That shit sucks. I get it, been there. Really, I mean, beyond sucks is worse than that. But, but, but, but what the hell can you do, or have you been doing, to keep you where you are? What's biting at you? What's driving you crazy about you? You have got to deal with that. And once you break through that, you no longer have that poverty mindset. Poverty mindset is financial, is mental, emotional. Spiritual and intellectual. Where, where do you lack? Poverty's a mindset. I am so disappointed. I'm not upset from this weekend. I'm so disappointed that here's these people that I like, who I've been giving advice to, who I visit these guys trying to help them out, you know, they're trying to make it out here. And so I'm trying to help them. Never did I say I'm going to charge them. Never did I even say who I was. They did their own Googling to find out who I was. Never. Just, just trying to help them, man. And they scatter like roaches. What makes you scatter like a roach? What makes you run? What topic, if we were talking, I would bring up would make you uncomfortable and you would want to run like a roach? Poverty is a mindset that makes you run like a roach.
It's pretty heavy. I'm gonna leave you with that.
There's some heavy stuff, but I'm challenging all of you because I challenge myself, and I'm challenging these people who I spend time with and how disappointed I am. Don't run like a roach, man. Run like a hero. Save yourself. Get yourself out of that mindset. All it is is changing your thought. All it is is changing the way you see things. Go forth and spread beauty and light. Do not let anyone affect your thoughts. Challenge yourself. Make yourself uncomfortable and then find out why. Figure it out. Get through that and you will never be poor. You will always be happy. I love you. Until the next time.
