Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, reflecting on the past that has created the present. Do you take for granted all the things you did when you first started out in your career? Well, let's be really real. The things you did when you first started out in your life, first time you went outside and played and you tried to make friends, first time you rode your bike, the first time you threw a ball, the first time you kicked the ball, the first time you went swimming. All these firsts you now do insanely well today, don't you? You don't think about that. You're so good. You're so amazing. But it was that uncomfortableness that taking yourself off your butt, off the sofa, outside, and doing something that was unusual, that maybe other people were doing and maybe other people weren't, that led to your greatness. Think about people who play chess. These kids, these prodigies, nobody when they're 7, even 4 or 5 years old when they first start playing, wants to be in the house the whole time playing chess. But they invest and become world champions, grand champions, legends. What have you invested, and what are you investing in today that is uncomfortable that will make you a legend? That's what you have to reflect on. I'm looking around now, and people are so damn confident themselves. Everybody's so insecure, so they're overdressing, they're making themselves look bigger and better than that they are. And I look at people and I'm going, my God, they're never gonna be a legend, because they think they are. Not one single legend thinks they're a legend. They think they're a child. They think that they have to invest. They think that they need to get better. They know they have to get better. They know they have to do the repetition. They know they have to focus. And ignore everyone else and go all in? Who are you? Are you so confident when you walk down the street? I know who I am. I know what I've done. Or are you the person who walks down the street and doesn't see anybody else because you're obsessed in that idea in that I have to get better, that legend mentality. There are so many changes happening today in technology, artificial intelligence, which is not becoming a technology, it's actually becoming a lifestyle, is becoming an intelligence in its own that will permeate every aspect of our life. It is going to change everything. And those people who are so confident and walk down the street, they're going to get obliterated because they're not investing in the growth of who they're meant to be. And those people who are obsessed with spending time on these little things that will grow, planting seeds in the grounds of their life to become a bigger, better oak tree, They are the people who are going to succeed because they're in a growth mindset. Who are you? Be a legend. Start doing the smallest things of things you love. Do the smallest things of things that you don't see any return on investment today, but if you get it right, it will produce something for tomorrow. That's not wasted time. The problem is today we all want instant gratification. You go on social media, you get an instant story that's cut down to about 30 to 90 seconds. It's either instant laugh, instant something, and you move on to the next one. Instant this, instant that. Think about it. Every one of those videos you watch, someone, the person shooting that video, do you know how much time it took them to create that perfect 30-second moment? They spent hours, hours. Or for that one video, look at the other hundreds of videos they did that sucked. All those hundreds of other videos, that's what their investment of time to get to nail that one video. Where are you investing your time where you don't see any instant gratification, but sometime in the future you're going to be a different person? Where are you investing your time? What are you doing? If you're just saying everything is great, I got a good salary, I have a boyfriend, I have a girlfriend, everything's okay. You're dying. Life is not stagnant. Life changes. There are no straight lines. What are you doing today? What is your plan today? It could be a small thing. It doesn't have to spend all day on it. But what are you doing today? What are you doing every day that could potentially lead to an insanely different more beautiful tomorrow. Being overweight began a long time ago when not eating properly. Being unhealthy began a long time ago when the body's immune system started to fail because of some external influence, be it physical, mental trauma, A lot of trauma. Who you are today in your career started a long time ago because maybe somebody gave you a push, a compliment, an opportunity, or the opposite. No one gave you a push, no one gave you an opportunity, and you have the career that you have today. The languages you speak started many years ago, the first time somebody actually taught you your language. Everything you are today, the muscles you have in your body, or the lack of muscles you have in your body, all started years ago when you should have been training, or you did train, and that's why you are so fantastic as you are now. Everything that you are today is from the past, from a moment you first started doing something. First time you picked up a weight, you didn't know how to pick up a weight, but that was day one. And now today, look at you. What are you doing today that is something you haven't done before and you're not sure if it's going to give you any return on investment? But it's worth it. Don't take for granted that you can walk. Many years ago, your parents most likely held your hand and taught you how to walk, and today you can walk. But it took those first steps and you fell down. Everything we do, everything we master today All began a long time ago and we were not good at it. What are you not good at today that will lead to your tomorrow? Go forth and spread beauty and light. Invest today in things that you're not sure what the outcome is going to be. Don't just go around being so confident. Go around questioning yourself. Not to the point where you drive yourself crazy, but say— or no, matter of fact, play— who do I want to be when I grow up? Why do you have to believe you grew up already? Who do I want to be when I grow up? What do I have to start doing today to be that person, to be with that person, to live in that home? To have the smile on my face that I want to have, to sing with that voice that I want to sing. What do I have to do today? And you start and you don't stop. You may never make it, but along the way you're going to have so many beautiful, great, amazing moments. That that is what life is all about. It's never the destination, it's always the journey. Enjoy that journey. I'm Thomas Anglero, smiling because I'm enjoying the journey. It's so much fun. Take care. Until next time.
