I hope you truly enjoy all the lessons I share, all the dots I connect that sometimes are just really difficult to get out but it's all for you. I truly hope you enjoy this episode. Welcome to the Soul of Innovation podcast. I am Thomas Anglero, and I'm going to ask you an important question: are you happy with the situation you're in? Most of us, all of us, are frustrated where we're at. We could see us being in a better place. We could see us achieving better things, being happier, more money, more friends, you know, fill in the picture with your own dreams. Let me ask you, what the hell have you done in the last 5 minutes to make that happen? Think about it. Now, don't think about it, write it down. You should be able to write down a list. See, I'm calling the bull on this. Everyone talks the talk, but where the hell is the action? Where are your actions? Where are the things you've done that nobody else has done before? Remember, you're this incredible person, right? You want the world to see this incredible person, this smart person, this genius person, this kind person, this sweet person. In the last 5 minutes, what the hell have you done that the world can see that? So many people talk the talk, but not a damn person walks the walk. First thing that comes to mind to me is social media. How many pictures do these kids take? And not even kids, I even take that back. I apologize to all the kids out there, you don't know better. But adults, grown-ups, who are posting all these pictures, putting on makeup or getting themselves to look nice, or lifting weights, getting their muscles all pumped up, and then getting their friend or looking around, make sure nobody sees them, and then they take a picture of their bicep or something like that. So they work out all day just for that one moment to take a pic. I mean, what the hell, people? Is this where we're at? Is this after all the years on your life where you got to where you have to make up a moment of you? Your whole life, your whole image, instead of you being this wonderful person all the time, all comes down to this set-up moment? When you're on a conference call at work, you wait for your moment, and you want everybody to be based your greatness off of that moment, and the rest of your life you're this whatever person that you know you are that you're not happy with? Seriously, I, I, I'm, I'm losing it. I am losing it. I don't understand how people don't see their own hypocrisy. It's hard as hell to be you all the time. I know it hurts. I know it's exhausting. But what the hell else do you got? You're known for who you are. Look around. Look what people see you as. That's what you're known for. How much risk have you taken? None. That's what you're known for. How many things have you done that nobody else has done? That's what you're known for. How many times have you disagreed with the crowd and the masses, singling yourself out amongst everybody, your peers, your friends, your family, and you stood your ground? Never? That's what you're known for. Have— how many times have you expressed your opinion without even hesitating? Never? That's what you're known for. Time is up. Stop being like everybody else. With all of the stuff going on in society today, we're all looking at each other wondering what's next. Don't go on to damn social media and try to figure out what the hell's next there. What's the latest trends there with Facebook and all the stuff people are posting there? Or on Instagram or Snapchat or Jesus Christ, TikTok, which is really interesting. Those are not the trends. That's not who you are. Start your own damn trend. What's your trend? There's your question. What's your trend? What is the trend that you're gonna start that we all 7 billion people on this planet are gonna follow you to the very end? What's your trend? Yes, what is your damn trend? Who are you? What do you stand for? What's your trend? What is it that defines you? What's your trend? Stop looking for other trends. Stop being a follower. Start being you. Jesus, I was at an event recently. And it was a whole bunch of older men. And after the event, there was a drinking thing, and people started drinking, and they started— they started getting drunk. And all of a sudden, everybody could start talking. And I realized that these people, they all were 60 plus, they've lived their entire life holding back who they are and waiting until the alcohol got them so inebriated, so drunk, that it took down all of the filters and all of the layers of insecurity and everything, that only then could they then be that voice, let that inner voice come out and be themselves. Is that you? Do you need to get drunk Do you need an excuse for the real you to come out? And are you 60-something, or do you know somebody who's 60 or 70-something? How many decades have they been holding that stuff inside? Enough, people. Enough. I swear to you, enough. Just be you. When somebody— you want somebody to fall in love with you, do you want them to fall in love with the outside of you or fall in love with the inside of you? To see the inside of you. Do you have to get drunk first so that you let that inside person come out? So who do you want the person you fall in love to— love with? Do you love— want that person to fall in love with the outside you, never knowing who the hell the inside you is? Or do you want that person that to fall in love with you to see you totally drunk and inebriated, to eventually then see the real inside of you, and then realize, wow, for me to even get to know this person, this person has to be piss-poor drunk. We're gonna have a wonderful family. Can't wait to raise some of those kids with her, with him. Do you get it? The cost of you being you is zero. It costs you nothing. Look at where we are. Look at the people around you. Look at your friends. Matter of fact, look at your family. How many people in your family have achieved amazing things? You know, no disrespect, right? A lot of them been in really tough situations. They came from poor families and they helped you, and you, you've elevated and you've done things your parents haven't done. Your uncles haven't done— God bless, God bless your family, God bless you. I'm not going there, but I'm saying how many of them have taken risk? Some of them have. How many of them haven't? They're looking for you to start a trend, to define a trend, to define where we're going. We have 7 billion people on this planet. We're all looking at each other. We're not going anywhere. Right? It's that mouse and the wheel that spins around, or the hamster and the, the wheel, right? That's what we're doing. It's your moment. It's absolutely your moment. There's no one holding you back but you. You have got to go. You have got to start a trend. I want you to put that in your head now. What trend am I going to start? What do I believe in? What is my 1+1? I, I want to know, what is your 1+1? What is it that you drive and you love? What is it that you can— you believe in, that you want to do with your free time? My God, tell the world about it, because the world is getting in some ways incredibly boring. In other ways, we're too damn exciting, too much drama happening all over the world with everything, the markets, everything that's happening, too much excitement. But in terms of people, in terms of people's stories, Passion, love, definition of who we are and where we're going. It's not enough of that. It's not enough. What's your story? What's your trend? I'll leave you with that. Go forth and spread beauty and light. Start your trend now. It could be small. You could do it by yourself. Learn to play instrument. Sing more if you always want to be a singer. Sing like you've never sung. You know what? You want to sing? You want people to love your singing? Here's a trick: sing at home. And leave the windows open so that way you get used to people hearing you, but you're in the comfort of home. How's that? The neighbors won't say anything. They only say something when they like it, and they will because it's coming from you, the deep you. No alcohol needed, no excuses needed. No hiding. Just crack open the window and crack open your soul. Until next time. Thank you for listening to that episode.
