AI and Writing - Keynote speech

Keynote speech excerpt (Tiago Mattos) about using AI to write in a way that appears uniquely human. The speaker recounts receiving an out-of-office email written by ChatGPT4 for Paul Rotzer and uses it to illustrate the comedic/copywriting "rule of three" (two normal items followed by an unexpected third).

So today we're going to talk about how to write like the robots can't even whilst we are using AI.
So for you, weeks ago, on a Monday morning at 9am, I emailed this guy, Paul Rotzer, founder of the Marketing AI Institute. Paul, are you here?
He's right here. He's mortified that his giant face is.
Now on the screen. I can see it. Paul was out of the office that week, and so I got his autoresponder in response.
ChatGPT4 had written it.
The prompt that Paul gave ChatGPT4 is this. Write me a clever out of office.
Email that explains I'm going to be slow to reply to emails because I'm traveling to a series of talks about artificial intelligence.
And this is what I got back in my inbox after I emailed Paul. Paul's out of office read. I am out of the office attending and speaking at a series of AI conferences where I will dive deep into the trenches of machine learning neural networks.
In sentient toaster ovens.
Just kidding about that last one.
Or am I? ChatGPT4 wrote this in response to Paul's prompt.
Now, two things struck me about Paul's out of office when it arrived in.
My inbox a few weeks ago. The first thing was the humor here. Machine learning, neural networks, sentient toaster ovens. The construction of this out of office email is following the rule of three.
Now, the rule of three is a principle of both comedy and copywriting.
And it holds that in a series of three items, there's a pattern, right? Item one, normal item, item two, normal item, item three, curveball.
In a list of three.
You sort of throw this curveball in to interrupt the pattern, right? The third thing doesn't fit the mold. It's unexpected. And so in comedy writing, it interrupts.
The pattern and becomes the punchline. Or in copywriting, sometimes it's just a weird little aside.
And so Paul's out of office followed.
This rule of three. Machine learning, neural networks, sentient toaster oven, same exact pattern.
