A short YouTube clip (creator: Timothy Schucker) giving practical sales/relationship-building advice: ask people directly (you lose nothing by not asking), be inviting and outgoing rather than brusque, position yourself as an advisor rather than a pushy seller, and use digital contact-exchange (electronic card + text) to create an immediate lead and enable conversational follow-up.

Just ask. I mean you'll be surprised if you don't ask. I mean the answer is already no. If you ask, you got a 50, 50 chance that they're going to say yes. And you have to be inviting. Nobody wants to deal with somebody who's got like an attitude. You act like they don't, they're bothering you. You have to have that kind of outgoing personality. Now that I've never had a problem with. I'm just striking up a conversation with everybody. I never try to go and sell anybody anything. I'm more of what I consider an advisor. I never just go and say, hey, do you need life insurance? What I usually do, I don't just give them a card. I never even take business cards anymore. I have electronic card on my phone, I text it to them. So now they have my phone number and I have theirs. Hello, I just made a lead. I can text them now and say, hey, you remember me? I met you at the Walmart. Look, did you ever talk to your sister in law? Now it's a whole conversation.
