I locked myself in my room until I made $500k with insurance (annuities)

Timothy Schucker went from earning $26,000 his first year in insurance to building a seven-figure agency by 22. He breaks down a five-stage roadmap to $500k: start with any product and solid leads, move to annuities and cash-value life for bigger commissions, then hire appointment setters and support staff to stop trading time for money.

In 2021, I was a 19-year-old that got recruited into the insurance business, and in my first year of selling, I only made $26,000. After that, I decided to lock myself in a room until I made $500,000. Flash forward a few years and my agency hit $100,000 a month when I was just 22 years old. Since then, I've gone on to teach over 4,000 agents the systems and processes that you need to scale in this industry. My company has personally trained 583 agents and counting in just last 2 years. I've worked with some of the top agency owners and biggest IMOs in the country, and my clients have gone on to make as much as $140,000 in commissions in just 1 month. So in this video, I'm going to give you the 5-stage roadmap that I used to go from a 19-year-old broke insurance agent to hitting 7 figures in this industry, and how my clients are using this exact same roadmap to make multi-6s, 7, and in some cases even 8 figures so that you can learn much faster than I did. I'm going to break these 5 stages up based on your annual income of what you would be earning at each level and what it really takes to reach the next stage. First, we're going to talk about getting to your first $10,000. Then we're going to talk about getting to $100,000, then $500,000, then $1 million, and lastly, multiple millions $100,000. And by the way, if you want my team to personally help you implement this exact roadmap into your business, click the link in the description to apply to work with us. So let's get started. So stage 1 is about making your first $10,000 in the insurance industry. Now, to be honest, this one's pretty simple. You can get to $10,000 with literally any product in insurance. You could get there selling final expense, mortgage, Medicare, anything. Doesn't matter. You don't have to be picky about what you're selling. All you really need here is a solid sales process that works, a lead source, and some grit. You literally just have to have that, call some leads, learn as you go, sell a few policies, and bam, you're there at $10,000. It's very simple to do. The biggest thing that keeps people from hitting this milestone is they're just lazy and they refuse to work. Other than that, you'll hit $10,000 like a piece of cake. Very easy. So next, let's move on to where a lot of people get stuck and most agents never hit this, unfortunately, is $100,000. So if $10,000 was just about having some grit for a short period of time, $100,000 is about consistency. You need to have grit, but you need to have it over a long extended period of time. Now you can get to $100,000 with, again, literally any product. Same thing as $10,000. Now there's easier ways to get there, like if you're selling annuities or, you know, cash value life insurance to business owners or something, you can get there much easier and much faster. But you can still get there with final expense, mortgage, Medicare, P&C, any of the other products that are maybe lower ticket. The only two things you really need to get to $100,000 is a consistent lead source, right? A solid sales process, and ideally some of the it's training you on how to implement that sales process correctly. And the third thing is you just need to consistently work and show up. It's not very complex. You can get to $100 grand pretty simply. All right. Now, moving on to stage number 3, which is getting to $500 grand. At this point, you need to stop trading time for money and start incorporating leverage into your business so you can get to $100 grand with hustle. But to get to $500 grand, you're going to need a little bit more leverage, not just hustle. You can't just dial the phone all day and expect to make half a million bucks a year. You're going to need to have people calling and setting appointments for you. And you're probably also going to have a system that's booking appointments directly on your calendar. You want to spend the majority of your time speaking to people and selling as opposed to chasing people around. And to get to $500 grand, you're also going to need to get some leverage on the product that you're selling. So one of the biggest points of leverage you can get in your business is the customer who you're selling to. So it's incredibly difficult to make half a million bucks a year with mortgage protection, final expense, or products like that where you're selling like smaller, low-ticket life insurance products that don't compound a lot. You're going to want to sell something that's bigger ticket, like cash value life insurance or annuities, where you're getting big lump sum checks with annuities anywhere from $10,000 to $85,000 per sale. With cash value life insurance, you're getting bigger commission checks that give you recurring revenue. Those type of products are going to make it much easier for you to get to half a million bucks a year. At this level, your sales ability needs to be extremely sufficient and dialed in. You need to have a repeatable process that you can execute on every single time that you're on a call. You need to understand your script. You need to know how to overcome each individual objections. Your skill level needs to be very high. The biggest shifts that I've seen that get people to half a million bucks a year is if you take a top final expense or mortgage protection producer and you shift them over to selling annuities, skyrocket. The other thing as well is if somebody is buying a bunch of aged leads and dialing and doing all that kind of stuff all day, and then they shift over to a better model. Like, for example, our clients, we do a pay-per-show deployment model, so they only pay per showed annuity appointment that has over $250,000 in assets. A shift like that, if you went from like calling leads to something like that, the leverage you get on your time is tremendous. And I've seen that boost people's income as well. So let's talk about going from half a million dollars a year to $1 million a year. So to get to $1 million a year, you need to maximize every single minute of your time. To get to this level, you have to be selling higher ticket insurance products. You have to be selling annuity, cash value life insurance, or something like that that has a compounding effect. You could also do this with products that have renewals. But if you're selling like low-ticket, smaller life insurance policies, it's going to be incredibly difficult to get here. You could certainly do this with like Medicare or P&C or something where you get recurring renewal commissions and your income steadily scales up. But what I've seen is the people that get here the quickest are selling big commission products, cash value life insurance and annuities. You also need to have a marketing system, not just buying leads, but you need to have a marketing system that puts you in appointments all day long. The only The only thing that you should be doing is talking to people and closing clients. You're also going to have to bring on people on the back end, like an assistant or an admin team to help you process paperwork and applications. Your entire day should literally just be closing policies. So ideally in this situation, you're taking preset verified qualified appointments all day long. Again, could be our pay-per-show appointment offer or something similar. But the biggest thing is you need to have a system where you are only just selling all day long. The producers that I've seen get to $1 million a year, they're usually probably not making their own dials. They have appointment setters calling for them. They're not filing paperwork or going back and forth with carriers. They have an assistant that does those things for them, and they're probably looking at bringing on other agents. You could certainly make $1 million a year just on your own without having a team, but usually to get to this level, people have started to recruit others around them that are kind of adding on to that production level to help them get to $1 million a year. All right, so now we're going to talk about the big leagues. We're talking about multi-seven figures a year. This is reserved for the top 0.1% 1% of producers and only my highest level of clients are doing these type of numbers to get to multi-seven figures a year. You are not going to do it by personally producing. Ideally, you've gotten to half a million, maybe even $1 million a year personally as a producer. But to get to this level, you need to be able to duplicate yourself. Now, the thing that I will say is the more money you were making as an individual producer, the better that system was, the easier it's going to be able to be to duplicate yourself and bring other people in to run that system. If your system was buying a bunch of leads, calling them $500 a day, and then trying to sell that way, well, to convince other people to come in and have them stick and stay for a long period of time where you can earn on overrides is going to be much more difficult, as opposed to if you were making half a million, $1 million a year and you were only taking appointments. That's a much easier system to recruit people into and get them to stay. You got to think about that because one of the biggest mistakes that I see people make when they're getting started is they're personally producing they're not enjoying it, they're not making that much money. And they think that the way out of that is just to recruit other people into this model that they don't even want to be a part of themselves. So again, remember, the better the system was that you were working as a personal producer, the easier it's going to be to recruit, train, retain, and earn overrides on producers that you bring on. So to get to multi-seven figures a year, you need to have a system for recruiting, training, and turning them into top producers. At this level, you really need to start thinking like a business owner. You need to start putting in other trainers inside of your business and building up and scaling a solid foundation so that you can hit multi-seven figures in income. What you would want to do is you have leads coming in for your agents and then you're just cherry-picking the best clients off of the top, selling those yourself. And then the remainder of your time is spent training, recruiting, onboarding, hiring, etc., and building out systems so that you can duplicate your top producers. So that is the 5-step roadmap from zero to multi-millions of dollars per year in insurance. Now, if you're an individual producer or an agency owner who wants my team to help you implement these systems, maybe you're selling a different product and you you want to transition to higher-ticket insurance products like annuities or cash value life insurance, or maybe you want a better way to receive clients like only paying for showed qualified appointment, click the link down below in the description to apply to work with us, and we're happy to help you scale and get to the next level. Now, with that being said, I will see you in the next video.
