Short YouTube clip (creator: Timothy Schucker) describing a May 2023 Facebook targeting change that causes ads to generate leads outside an agent’s licensed states. The speaker offers three responses: (1) buy licenses and get appointed in those states, (2) tailor ad creatives to name target states explicitly, and (3) sell out-of-state leads to other agents; ends by asking viewers whether "self gen" (self-generated leads) is dead.

Facebook self gen is dead. Or is it? In May of 2020 23, Facebook made a change to the way that you targeted people. What they did made it so you'll get a ton of leads in states that you're not even licensed yet. Let's say I'm an agent that's licensed in Texas and I'm running ads to people in Texas. So before I could only target people that are living in Texas. Now they can see my ad and click on. One is if you get a lead in a state that you're not licensed in, they'll call them up and if they're ready to buy, just buy the license in that state, get it appointed and sell them insurance. Number two is to change your ad creative to specifically call out certain states. Let's say I'm running in Texas, Arizona and California. I have one ad that says seniors living in Texas, one ad that says seniors living in Arizona, and one that says seniors living in California. Then someone from Kansas will be less likely to respond to the ad. Number three is simply to sell the leads get in other states to other agents. So let me know in the comments down below. Is self gen dead or is this a lot.
