What's going on everybody? I have a very exciting guest for you today. I have David Householder who actually just started using the systems from our course. He didn't even get the platinum ad set up yet but he has already generated a 17x return on his lead spend. So David, welcome to the advanced agent marketing channel and just kind of give us a little bit of a background on yourself, you know, how did you get into the insurance business? And then we'll cover kind of what you've been doing, your processes with the leads and then maybe even get into your sales process and maybe even show your ad account if you're open to doing that.
Hey everybody. Yeah, I am full time and I'm actually full time in car sales trying to make this transition and I came across advanced agent through YouTube, through watching another YouTuber and I was looking for something that I could, it could do a lot of the automations for me and start generating my own unique leads because I was tired of wasting money on.
Integrity leads and other just lead vendor leads. So I thought this was a really great way to.
Start to self generate and they're just for me and there's a system behind it that will try to auto book appointments and that was so awesome to hear.
So yeah, awesome. So you say you came from car sales, you made the jump over to insurance, you said you're still full time in car sales and you're kind of like trying to transition over, is that right?
Yeah, trying to transition over.
I'm curious because a lot of I see like I call them repeat offenders and they're like careers that people used to come from and they transition over to insurance. So like the most common ones, like this is so strange to me but literally the most common one is personal trainer number one. You see a lot of car salesmen, you see a lot of people that maybe did like health insurance in a call center, some people that maybe owned gyms, but that also kind of goes into the same personal trainer thing and you see a lot of car salesmen. So what is it that appeals to you about insurance that kind of is bringing you over from the car business that makes you kind of want to find your way here.
It's sometimes you have a inventory problem with car sales especially the last two years has been a challenge.
With cars being very short and not having the right one for the person having to move them to something else. Whereas insurance, it's a very important product and there's endless leads out there and there's a product, there's a Product for everybody. And if I want to, I can do it in the comfort of my own home and not spend 60 hours a week at a dealer because that's about how many hours a week I spend there.
Wow, 60 hours a week just selling cars. That's, that's insane. So how, how much are you working, doing insurance? Like how many hours are you putting in a week?
I would say it's, it's, it's gotta be less than 20. You know, like sometimes I, if it's a little slower at work, I'll, you know, open up my laptop and hop in and make a few calls, like insurance calls. And that's what again, the auto book thing is so great.
Because it would do. And I could set my own time for those two, those appointments to set themselves.
Okay, so you, you mentioned the auto books and I know basically, so you correct me if I say anything wrong as I'm kind of like walking through what I understand your journey over the last couple weeks have been. So you were buying a bunch of, you know, CRM leads. You're buying leads from lead vendors. Kind of wasting some money. You found us through YouTube channel and then you got the course started doing the course. When did you launch the ads for the course?
So I, I'm, I'm following precisely down to what it says in the 77 cent course.
Okay.
I didn't want to deviate and try anything new because obviously it works. So I started February 1st and that's when I went live with everything. Got it first, got it going.
And I've spent 290 bucks on Facebook in seven days. It's about $50 a day. Yeah, I was saying it's generated me about 67, 67 leads. Just doing exactly what you said. And it's a little over $4 a lead.
Okay, so a little over four bucks a lead. You've been running it for seven days. And you, you mentioned the auto booked for people that don't know anything about the auto books. Like what does that look like on your end when you receive a auto booked appointment?
There's a link that people, that people click on when they go through the ad and it said, you know, they check, see if I qualify. That takes them right to my calendar through the advanced agent CRM and they pick a time and it just comes right through on. I get an alert on my phone and an email that it's set up and I just got to make sure that I'm ready to go in that when that, when that time comes and I never set it out for any further than five days ahead of time just because, you know, a week or more is so long.
So of those 67 leads, how many would you say that you've gotten? Auto booked appointments or how many auto booked appointments have you gotten?
I would say anywhere from it. I didn't look this up exactly, but I'd say anywhere between 8 and 10.
Okay.
Auto books from that and from, you know, most of them. Most of them have no showed, unfortunately. But I'm still continuing the call it.
Yeah.
And again, the CRM is sending.
Text to them like, hey, is everything all right? Do we need to reschedule? And I've gotten some responses out of that. So it's just a matter of buttoning it up.
Yeah, 100%. So you said eight people showed up or eight auto books. You said a decent amount of them didn't show up. How many sales did you make off of this? $290 in lead spend.
Total sales is three.
Three sales. Okay, and I know you said three. Is there one that's still pending, right?
Yeah, one is still pending from. From Aetna. So a total of.
It's three auto book appointments. One of them was a double sale, husband and wife from one appointment.
Okay. And all of your sales have come.
From the auto books so far, yes.
Okay, awesome. So I'm going to do the math here because I know a lot of people. It's one thing that people, and this is very, very wise of insurance agents is like, the important thing is not the cost per lead, it's the cost per sale. So right now your cost per sale is sitting at about 72.5 bucks, which is pretty insane for life insurance. I mean, if your average policy is, you know, let's say 800 bucks, which is pretty conservative for a lot of people. You're just. I mean, that's like a 10x return on your money. You're obviously at 17x. And so you said three to four sales. How much AP is that in total?
All total. With one that's still pending. It's. It's an underwriting all total. It's a $5,094.62.
Wow. So $5,000. Basically, like 5,100 bucks off of $290 in lead spend. That's. What did you pay before cost per lead when you were buying the CRM leads?
I would typically wait until it would go on a sale, you know, but even then, still, it was, it was still four to six dollars a lead. But they were, they have Been washed through, you know, like they've been through.
Gotcha.
A million different people, and a lot of times the information wasn't right. So.
So it was a perfect example of low lead cost, but very high cost per sale.
Right.
Gotcha. Okay, awesome. So, I mean, your profits, I mean, I would assume that your profits have gone up quite a bit considerably after you started generating your own leads. I'm curious, as far as, you know, what are your. What are your next steps from here? I mean, are you just going to keep plowing money into this and continuing to scale it up or, you know, where did. Where does David go from here?
I want to continue finding ways to lower down cost per lead and just have the most attractive ad out there to get the most, like, auto books as possible. Because right now, until I can make enough money to move over to this full time, you know, I have to.
Make sure that transition is set up right. So I'm just doing the auto. Just doing the auto books and calling the leads.
Okay. And so what I like to do is like, whenever somebody comes on here and they've seen, you know, decent bit of success, which you've seen a lot of early success. And I'm sure this is only the beginning of you in the insurance business with selfgen and all that, but give me like, three main keys to your sales process. What are the three biggest things that have allowed you to close those deals? And you actually, one of them, you got a double policy off of one lead, so you're using the referral method. So what would you say are the three biggest keys to you being able to write business?
Making sure that the first impression, like, just sound like you already know them and they already know you.
Yep.
Especially with the auto books because you. You got to remember that you're talking to an older generation and they, they like, you know, to someone that is just friendly and someone that sounds like you want to be. You want to have a conversation with. So I just act like I already know them and just kind of act curious, like, hey, I'm just getting back to you here about the form you filled out on Facebook for the state burial programs. Do you remember filling that out? And I'm just kind of just acting curious and that. And that gets them pulled in. They're like, yeah, yeah, and, you know, go from there.
So first key is, you know, just being familiar. What would you say the other two.
Would be speaking to slowly, like, don't go too. Don't go too fast.
They say, you know, slow down to speed Up.
Got it.
That's true in car sales. Is true in this, too. Is, you know, don't be in a rush. Just keep. Keep it very simple. And I always have my script right here with me. It's actually, it's from Peter Roberts. His exact script. I keep it right here next to me.
Yep.
Just keep it as simple as possible, because they're. They're probably not used to talking to people on. On the phone like that. And, you know, just go. Go slow. Ask good questions.
Okay, so the three keys. One is act familiar, two is go slow, and three is use Peter Roberts script.
That's it. It's a good one. Like, it's. It's. It keeps it very simple, very easy.
Yeah.
And it's one that I've really hung on to. After all the different scripts I've seen. This one seems to, you know, I like it the best.
That's awesome. Okay, perfect. Well, yeah, if you don't mind, could you share your screen real quick and just kind of show people your ad account? Obviously, we'll blur out what the exact ads you're using are, but just so they could kind of see, like, you know, hey, this is a. This is what the ads dashboard looks like. This. This is what you're getting as far as your cost per lead goes. And this is kind of what they can expect.
Sure. There we go. All right. Can you see all that?
I can, yeah.
Okay.
Looks like you got a couple different ads. Average cost about four bucks. And. Yeah, just kind of walk me through, you know, what you've seen from the ads dashboard. Like, if it's really complicated to use or if you've kind of found it, you know, pretty easy to navigate.
At first, you know, I was toying with the idea of maybe dabbling in advertising, even for car sales, and getting in here, and it was complicating or, you know, crazy looking for me at first, but. Yeah, then you just break it down. It's. Everything's easier in threes. And that's exactly what this is. You got campaigns, ad sets, and your ads that are in the ad set.
But no, I. But now I've. I've got it down pat, pretty much.
Absolutely. Go slow to go fast. Right.
That's how you do it.
Awesome. Well, cool. Yeah, I mean, I think that's super helpful.
It's.
Dude, it's. It's so good to see you have an early success. I know you. You shot me a dm. I kept seeing you post some sales in the group, and it's like dude, this guy's killing it. And you had just started like a, a few days ago, and I was like, all right, man. Like, let's see what happens over the weekend. And you ended up putting up another sale. So exciting stuff, dude. I'm very hyped to see where you go from here.
Yeah. And it makes, you know, it's a feel good thing to knowing that you're. You're doing a really good service. And it's just like helping. It's. I act like it's helping my own grandparents out, you know.
Yeah.
They may not have anything else saved up and this is their way to. To go. And, you know, if they are filling this stuff out and they're answering the phone and your text messages, like, they probably want to buy something and it's just up to you to again, go slow, keep it simple, and just get them qualified. Just. And say, hey, is there anything holding you back from an application right now? No. Cool. Let's rock and roll.
Yeah, I mean, it sounds like you also, you truly believe in the product. And if you don't believe in a product, it's hard to sell and you feel a little greasy selling it. So, I mean, if people are maybe having a difficulty selling life insurance, one thing that would be super helpful would actually just to kind of go out and figure out, like, basically do research on the advantages of having it versus the disadvantages of not and. And read some stories of people that, you know, maybe have passed away without life insurance or people that passed away with life insurance and how it benefited their family. So I really like that. Yeah, you're. I mean, you're. You're literally just helping somebody's grandparents out. And this is a great way to, you know, make even more money doing that with the self chin side.
