In today's video, I'm sharing the top 15 tips you need to know if you're getting started on YouTube. So if you are a YouTube newbie, stick around. Hey guys, my name is Trena and welcome to another episode of Just the Tips on this Channel. I provide online business owners tips, tricks and strategies on how they can use YouTube in their business. And like I said, today we're talking about the 15 tips you need to know as a YouTube newbie. Let me know down below if you're just getting started on YouTube and what your channel is about. Tip number one is to have a sense of professionalism, but let go of perfectionism. If you hold on to that sense of perfectionism, you're never going to get a video out. Trust me, your first video you're not going to be happy with. The second video might be a little bit better, but it's going to take some time for you to really feel comfortable being on video and happy with your video. But don't hold up your video content because you're waiting for the perfect video. Just put it out there. Tip number two is to have a specific niche for your channel. You're going to need to have a value proposition for your channel to make people want to subscribe and keep coming back to watch more. You can't just say that your channel is about what I eat in a day, my favorite business tips, how to set up a social media strategy, and my exercise routine. People are going to be like, what? Because they haven't built that relationship with you, so they honestly don't give a crap what you're doing. They come to your channel because they need help with something. That's how you're going to start building a relationship. Once you start building a following, people are watching, people are subscribing, then you can start branching out to more things because you have that loyal following. When you're first getting started, really hone in on your niche. Tip number three is to stick with video. I know it's going to be hard, I know it's going to be tough. I know it's going to seem time consuming, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. I swear, the more you do it, you're going to know where your camera goes, where your lighting goes. You're going to start to know how to edit a lot faster. So just stick with it. Tip number four is to start connecting with other bloggers and business friends. If you can start contributing on each other's videos, not only does it get you in Front of a new audience, but it also helps you create more content for your YouTube channel. Start reaching out to other business owners, you know that are getting started on YouTube as well. Tip number five is focus on that educational content. It goes back to the tip where I talked about niching. Focusing on the educational content is how you're going to start growing your channel the fastest. People have a problem that they want to have fixed and by finding your channel, that's how they're going to start coming back to you when they have more questions on that topic. So really focus on the educational content that you can provide within your niche. Make videos people are searching for. This goes back to researching your video ideas before you create your videos. If you are creating that searchable video idea, people are going to find you a lot quicker. Don't just come up with a video idea you think is cool. Really validate. People are searching this because that's how you're going to get in front of people. That's how you're going to start growing your audience. That's how you're going to start building relationships with people is finding the content that they are looking for. The seventh tip is crafting your content specifically for YouTube. I see a lot of people using YouTube as dumping ground. So they're taking their Facebook lives and just putting it on YouTube and expecting something to come of it. Unfortunately, Facebook lives are not converting well on YouTube. People are not watching that. I had a client, we put all her Facebook lives on YouTube and it did absolutely nothing. It had such a low audience retention. So really focus on creating content specifically for YouTube. If you want a script template to know exactly the breakdown of how your content should be set up here on YouTube, grab my script template. I'll link it right up here in the description box. It just shows you exactly the different elements that you need in your videos for YouTube. Tip number eight is understanding YouTube metadata. You can't just post a video on YouTube and expect people to find it. You need to understand how to title your videos, how to tag them, how to fill out that description box, all that metadata that YouTube needs to really help you rank videos to make sure people are finding these videos. It's not a platform where if you build it, they will come. You need to optimize that video and really understand how to do that. Tip number nine is to promote, promote, promote again. Just putting a video up on YouTube does not mean people will come watch it. You need to tell your email subscribers, you need to tell your business friends, you need to Tell your Instagram followers, Facebook, let everybody know you have this YouTube channel. Get them over there subscribing. That's how you're going to start building traction on your channel, is by bringing your current following over to YouTube. Tip number 10 is to bulk work. So sit down, bulk write all of your video scripts in one day. So write like 10 scripts all in one day, then find a day to film and film those 10 videos in one day. Now, it might not be easy to film 10 videos that that first day as you're just getting started, but commit to filming two or three videos. Don't just film one video. Bulk filming is what's really going to help you stay consistent and keep getting content up on YouTube to help your channel grow. Tip number 11 is to brand your channel. So make that channel banner. Make sure your thumbnails are branded to your current brand, so font and colors so that people can connect your brand with these thumbnails if they find your videos on YouTube. So, so just make sure you have a consistent brand across your channel. Tip number two is to study your analytics. I did not do this enough. YouTube gives you so much free information in your analytics section to really help you improve your content. You can find out when people are leaving your videos. What are you doing at that point? What can you do to make it better? So really take a look at your analytics every single month to see what's working and what's not working on your channel. Tip number 13 is your opinion matters. You, you came up with a video idea, you've researched it, then you look, somebody already did that video. That's okay. That person's opinion probably does not reflect your opinion and your audience wants to hear your opinion. So even though you might think, oh, that video has been done, it's not been done by you. So put your take on it, provide your opinion because your opinion matters. Tip number 14 is to have an upload schedule. The more consistent you are with a schedule, helps you commit to it and also lets your viewers know, hey, she has a new video every single Tuesday. So I going to go to her video to watch. This gets people to your platform, gets them watching your videos, starts increasing your watch time, minutes, which is ultimately what YouTube wants. Tip number 15 is to find some trending topics. So trending, I mean, like during Thanksgiving, that's really trending. During Christmas, that's trending. But what trends in your niche? Is it a new iPhone? Are you a tech person and the new iPhone came out, could you create a video around that to really optimize that search topic that's trending at that point in time. This is the key to really growing your channel quicker is by really jumping on the bandwagon of trending topics. You can use YouTube Trends, you can use Google Trends to really find out what these topics are in your industry. These are just 15 of my top tips to get you started on YouTube.
