Are you avoiding video content because you don't want to look stupid or awkward on camera? In today's video, I'm going to share with you three things you can do to get better on camera now. Hi, my name is Trena and welcome to my channel, Tips with Trena. Here on this channel, I help creative business owners like you use YouTube to grow your business. So if you're planning to use video to grow your business, make sure you click that subscribe button. Like I said, today I'm going to be sharing with you how you can finally start start to feel a little more comfortable here on video because I get how scary that red record button can be. And let me tell you, here's a secret. I did not start out on camera being this comfortable. In fact, I'm going to link you down below to a video that was my first video. And let me tell you, it's not pretty, but I want you to see we all have a beginning. You can also go back to people's first videos like Marie Forleo and Amy Porterfield. They all started at the same place we started. But the thing is, they got better because they kept doing it. They kept practicing. Let me share with you three things that you can do to get better. The first thing is to be yourself. Yes, you may still have that baby weight on you. Yes, you may have some gray hairs. Yes, you may have a lisp. Yes, you may have a gap in your teeth. Yes, you might not know how to do your makeup, but that's who you are. If you try to fake it here on YouTube, it's going to show on video. Your viewers aren't going to connect with you. They're going to feel awkward watching you. You're going to feel awkward watching yourself back because you aren't being true to yourself. You've got to do what it is that makes you you. So talk with your hands. Let your gray hair show. Don't do your makeup. If you're comfortable with yourself and you're not faking it, it's definitely going to allow you to connect with your people better. And you won't look as awkward on camera trying to be someone you're not. The next tip I have for you is to practice with a friend, whether in person. You call them over, you have some coffee or cocktail or some wine, or you just get on a Skype date or a zoom date or Google hangouts and you interview each other. You start to go back and forth and you have somebody there to help you get through those awkward points. It just helps you break the ice and it helps you to get your feet a little bit wet with somebody there by your side. It's not as scary to stare at this camera by yourself with an empty room just looking into a lens like I am right now. So find a friend. Even if it's over Skype or if it's in person, just get started with a friend. Next. You've got to practice. Honestly, you don't get better at something if you don't practice, right? You don't just jump on a bicycle and automatically know how to ride a bike without getting back on and doing it over and over again. Right? So some great ways to start practicing your camera confidence is to go on Instagram stories. It's such a great place to do it. You start to see yourself back. You start to get more comfortable with hearing your voice, seeing yourself, and it expires in 24 hours. I'm sorry. There's no secret way to get better on camera than to practice. And if you're ready to really up your practicing game and you want some accountability and you want some friends helping you along the way, I'm hosting a five day challenge called the Find you'd Camera Confidence Challenge. It's kicking off next Monday and there's going to be a private Facebook group with daily prompts to help you get better on camera. This group is going to be strictly private to those of us who are practicing to get better on camera. I'm going to be sending you daily emails to help you get through that scary part of being on camera. And the best part, this should only take you out 15 minutes a day for five days. So think about it. 15 minutes a day for five days, and you may finally have the confidence to create that video content you've been dying to create. What do you say? Are you in? I'm going to leave the link to the challenge for you to sign up down in the description box below. So make sure you check out that link and let me know in the comment section if you're in, if you're going to join this challenge. Because let me tell you, there are some amazing women in there that are going to be there supporting you, giving you great feedback to get better, and it's not going to be so scary doing it on your own. Plus, you have me to help you as well. Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
