When I first got started here on YouTube, there were a couple other channels that started at the same time as I did. I did everything that I could, right? I studied, I learned, I watched my analytics. But for some reason, the other channels grew faster than me and I just couldn't understand what was I doing wrong. Oh, honey, I know a lot of you out there are probably wondering the same exact thing. You feel like you're posting videos, you're working on your thumbnails, you're trying to make your content better, but somebody else is growing faster than you. So in this video to share with you, five secrets that businesses use to grow their YouTube channel that you might not know. Welcome back. My name is Trena. If you are brand new here, don't forget to subscribe to this channel because I'm posting new videos every Monday and Wednesday to help creative entrepreneurs just like you figure out how to start using YouTube to grow your business. In today's video, I really want to talk to you about the circle secrets to growing a YouTube channel that nobody really ever talks about. Because here's the thing. I know how disheartening it can be when you see somebody else's channel skyrocket in subscribers and you are still struggling to get one new subscriber this week. So here's exactly how they're doing it. So the first thing that businesses are doing that you may not know is they're using Facebook ads to grow their YouTube channel. So here's what they do. They create an ad for Facebook and they tell their Facebook followers or the people in this ad to go over and subscribe to their channel. They may also get those Facebook ads to get people to sign up to their email list. And then in that email, they tell people to subscribe to their channel. It's not necessarily that they're creating good content or they're being suggested by YouTube, but they're using Facebook to help bring some traffic over to YouTube to give their YouTube channel a little more growth. The second way people or businesses are growing their YouTube channel that you might not know about is giveaways. So. So I'm actually doing a giveaway right now over on my brand new mom channel where if you subscribe, you get to enter to win a set of powersheets or a simplified planner. Now, the way they get to enter to win this prize is if they subscribe to my channel. They also get more entries if they watch a video, if they like a video. And that's how I can start getting that traffic to my YouTube channel, because YouTube starts seeing all these people going to my channel, to watching this video, to liking it. And YouTube thinks, hey, let's start promoting more of this video. But the reason why people are going to it is because I have this giveaway. Now, the key step to giveaways, if you want to use a giveaway to grow your channel, is making sure it's a giveaway that your audience wants. What happens is if you have a giveaway that it's an iPad, anybody is going to subscribe to your channel, and it may get you a lot of subscribers, but it inflates your subscriber numbers. And those people that are subscribed aren't necessarily your target audience. So that's why over on my mom channel, I'm giving away a set of powersheets and a simplified planner. Because my audience over there is generally moms who are busy, who have a business, and they're planners. They like to goal set and they like to keep everything in their planner. So that is a way that you could grow your channel with giveaways. I use a program called Gleam, and that's not a bad way to grow your channel. Neither is Facebook ads, But it's just a way people do grow their channel that you might not know. The third way people and businesses are growing their channel is by using YouTube ads. Similar to Facebook ads, they put a video ad at the beginning of a video, kind of like what you saw here. And you can really target it for specific audiences who watch specific videos or do specific things on YouTube. They create basically like a little trailer for their channel and make their channel look super exciting so that people want to go over and to subscribe, and they have that call to action to go to their channel or click whatever button they need to click to go subscribe to their channel. I personally have not used YouTube ads or Facebook ads and have been growing my channel organically. I have done giveaways, but I have not spent any ad money here to grow my channel. When you do use YouTube ads on your channel, it can kind of skew your results. I would suggest one or the other. If you wanted to go more towards Facebook ads before YouTube ads. For now. Another way people are growing their channels that is totally free is collaborating. And you've seen here on my channel, I've collaborated with multiple people, specifically Michelle of Channel Notes and also Heather of Professor Heather Austin. This is just a great way to get in front of a new audience who may have not have found you before. So whether you give your video to the person and that person gives you their video to introduce you to their audience or you just have shout outs of each other to tell your audience to go check them out. But it's a great way to grow here on YouTube. So moving on to another way that businesses and people are growing their channel that you don't know about is they have a team. They aren't doing this all on their own. If you are a one person team, trust me, I know how hard it can seem like to get everything you got to film, edit, thumbnail upload, promote all of this stuff. And you wonder how are people doing it so consistent? Well, the thing is we have a team. So behind the scenes here for me, I shoot my videos and when I'm done, I send them to my editor. I have an editor who edits them for me. I also shoot my thumbnails and I now send my photos to my, my graphic designer and she creates the thumbnails. So I have outsourced those two pieces of my workflow. But for two and a half years I did this all by myself and the only way I was able to do it all by myself was batching. And if you want to grab my YouTube workflow and exactly how I do this, I'll have a link down below where you can actually get that. So if you would love to grab my YouTube workflow, absolutely, go check that out. But I have built up to the point now where I can now outsource and a lot of YouTube channels, especially if they have a business before they started a YouTube channel, have outsourced it, whether it's editors or virtual assistants who upload the videos for them or title the videos for them, or they actually have a YouTube channel manager who does all the research for them. That's how a lot of the times people are able to stay consistent is because they have a team supporting them.
