5 Things You Can Do To Get Discovered On YouTube in 2018

Trina shares five strategies for growing a YouTube channel: build a strong brand, collaborate with other creators, post consistently, keep viewers watching, and promote your videos on other platforms.
You want to kick your YouTube channel into high gear. More views, more subscribers, more conversions into paying clients. So what can you do to have more people watching your videos? Don't worry. In this video, I'm going to share five ways you can get discovered on YouTube right now. Hi, my name is Trina and on this channel I help creative entrepreneurs just like you figure out how to start using YouTube in your business strategy. Like I said, today we're talking about how you can finally get discovered on YouTube so that your hard work you're putting into these videos don't go unnoticed. So let's jump into the first way you can start getting noticed. Branding. Here's the deal. You've got to have consistent branding so that people can recognize you. Whether you already have a following on Instagram or on Facebook or your website has high traffic from Pinterest, you have got to take that branding over to YouTube so, so that your thumbnails stand out. If people are already die hard followers of you on another platform, it's really important for them to recognize you here on YouTube. So some of the ways you have got to stay consistent with your branding is all your thumbnails have to have some kind of consistent element. The same text, the same colors, something that links all of your thumbnails together. So if people are searching on YouTube for a pain point that you talk about you, your thumbnail has got to stand out to them as part of your brand. They're going to be much more likely to click on a video from somebody they know than any other video in that search. When you are constantly changing your branding on YouTube or changing up the fonts on your thumbnails or the colors, it's not consistent and people just can't recognize it. So you could be missing a lot of potential views by not just staying consistent with your branding. The next way is to start doing collaborations. If you can find people who are talking to a similar audience as you are, it allows you to get in front of more people and gets that traction going. So for me, I could potentially collaborate with somebody who teaches Instagram or a business coach because they all have a similar audience that I speak to. They might actually have just a total different audience than I currently have, but they're still my niche, they're still my target audience. So you really got to start thinking about how you can do collaborations with within your YouTube channel if you want to start seeing that growth and discoverability. The third thing that you've got to do to get discovered on YouTube is you've got to be consistent. You have got to show up every single week for your audience and kind of prove to YouTube that you're being consistent on this platform. YouTube wants to promote creators who are constantly bringing people back to the platform. So if you're posting once a week, every single week, you, you're getting that consistency going and you're basically proving yourself to YouTube. Plus you're training your audience to come back every single week at the same time. Now, if you can consistently get to one video a week, I highly, highly recommend you get to two videos a week, because that's twice the amount of time you can bring people to YouTube and twice the amount of watch time, twice the amount of views. I'm currently consistent with two videos a week, sometimes three. But I've tried all different types of consistency and I found for me, in my schedule, two times a week works best. And I'm seeing that payoff with my channel consistently growing and people coming back to watch my videos every Monday and Wednesday at 11am Eastern Standard Time. So if you're posting videos to YouTube and nobody's watching them, it's not because the YouTube algorithm doesn't like you. It's that you've got to prove to YouTube you have quality content. So the first way I talked about earlier was to be consistent showing up every single week. The second way is you have got to keep people watching your videos. One of the key elements that you can check on your videos is your audience retention. YouTube is going to recommend and suggest more of your content. If you can get 50% of people who click on your video to watch to the end. Okay, a lot of people talk about the perfect tags, the perfect keywords, all of that metadata stuff, but really all YouTube wants from you and wants you to do is to keep people watching YouTube videos. If you keep them here on the platform, YouTube's going to reward you by suggesting more of your content. So that's why getting 50% of people to watch to the end of your video consistently is how you're really going to start getting discovered on YouTube, because YouTube is going to start recommending more and more of your content to more people. So that's the key element you've really got to strive to hit when you when wanting to see actual growth on your YouTube channel. And finally, you have got to go off of YouTube to get more people over to YouTube. The biggest platform that I'm using right now is Pinterest. Pinterest draws so much traffic to my YouTube channel. Also Instagram and Facebook are also great traffic drivers to my YouTube channel as well. So take a platform that you already have a strong following on, even if it's your email list, and tell people you have a YouTube channel. You may have told them once, but but not everybody listens to all of your content. So keep telling them about this YouTube channel and keep telling them what you want them to do to go over and watch your latest video, to go over and to subscribe. Okay, you've got to use the audience you already have to start drawing that traffic to your YouTube channel. So YouTube starts seeing you're creating content that people are watching. Now if you want to kick that strategy into the next level, make sure you click that playlist that's on your screen right right now. And don't forget to subscribe to my channel because I'm posting new videos every Monday and Wednesday to help you strategically use YouTube in your business strategy. Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
