What if I told you you could create more content for your YouTube channel to increase your watch time and your views without creating any more videos? Well, this magic is called playlists. And in today's video, I'm going to share with you five ways you can create optimized playlists to increase your watch time and subscribers. Hi, my name is Trena. And this channel is all about getting creative entrepreneurs like you on YouTube to your business. And growing your business here on YouTube means getting more views and subscribers. So YouTube sees your channel more valuable and suggests more of your videos, but it doesn't always mean creating more content. Yes, you should remain consistent with new content every single week. But also creating playlists to get people to watch your content in a Netflix style binge. Yes, I'm still watching. So let's break it down into the five things you've got to do. The first thing is creating a playlist title that is optimized for a keyword, but also enticing and tells a story. You don't just want to create a playlist that says Instagram Tips. Okay, cool. What kind of tips? Is it for me? Is it for businesses? Is it for teenagers? So what's an enticing playlist title that you could give it? One suggestion would be Instagram tips to get 1000 followers. That's followers on Instagram, not subscribers. That would definitely entice somebody who's trying to grow their account to 1000 followers. There you go. I am. Then you'll want to take around four to five videos that you have talking about growing Instagram followers into this playlist. Or if you are just Getting started on YouTube, take this playlist and and create videos or come up with video ideas to fall specifically into this playlist. You want to use a similar keyword like Instagram tips to really start piggybacking on each other's traffic and having YouTube suggest each other's videos on each video. The second thing you need to do is fill out the description of the playlist, which so many people don't do. You want to fill out this description of the playlist just like the description of your videos, using keywords and summarizing what the playlist is going to be about. This gives YouTube more metadata so they know where to suggest your playlist, because playlists can actually show up in search results as well. The third thing to do is to have a good thumbnail. What's cool with playlists is you can select any thumbnail from the videos in that playlist. So if you have A really good thumbnail from a video in that playlist. Use that thumbnail to really pitch the value of that playlist. The fourth thing to do is really start creating content around this playlist playlist idea. So for me, I recently did a playlist on video ideas for 2018, and then my entire content strategy for that next month was creating videos around the keyword video ideas. So if you see on my channel, I did video ideas for your newsletter, video ideas to get views. So I put all of these videos into this playlist titled Video Ideas. And so now, not only do video ideas on social media have playlists and videos of mine, but I show up in suggested videos of my other videos because they're all tied together being in this playlist together. The fifth thing that you really want to do to optimize these playlists is to only put about four to seven videos in the playlist. If somebody clicks on your playlist and sees you have like 20 different videos in a playlist, they probably don't have time to do that amount of videos, but. But if you have like four, five, six videos, they might be more willing to binge watch it like Netflix. Now, I got a couple bonus tips for you. Okay, One bonus tip is to create a pin for Pinterest that links directly to a playlist. This way you're getting people from Pinterest over to YouTube. You bring people to the platform and potentially dumping them into a playlist where they'll play one video after another after another. Now, if you are going to do the strategy, just make sure you make it clear on your pin and that they're going to be going to YouTube or that they're going to be watching a video by putting a play button or putting in your description that this is a YouTube playlist to teach them how to XYZ. Another bonus is to share your playlist links everywhere. Share it on your website, share it on your Twitter, share it on your Instagram as many places that you can. Because if you share that playlist to the link, that sends the person that clicks to it directly to that playlist and dumps them into that, hopefully Netflix binge. If you want to learn more about optimizing your channel for YouTube SEO, make sure you click the playlist that's on your screen right now.
