7 Ways You can Make Money on YouTube

Trena Little walks through seven ways to make money on YouTube beyond ad revenue: passive products, coaching, client interviews, masterclasses, affiliate marketing, sponsorships, and email list building. Strategies for online entrepreneurs who want to grow a business through YouTube.
You want to know how much money I'm making from putting up these videos on YouTube? How much does YouTube send me every month? Take a guess. 2000? $2,000? $1? $0? I have honestly made no money from YouTube. YouTube has not sent me a check, but I'm still posting videos on YouTube. Why? Well, in today's video, I'm going to share with you how I'm making more money by using YouTube in my business. Hi, my name is Trena and on this channel I help online entrepreneurs like you get started on YouTube to grow your business. And to grow your business, you're going to need some funds. Am I right? So let me break down how I'm making money in my business while not getting paid from YouTube. The first way I'm making money is a passive process product. And you can totally do this as well. Make a quick PDF or a checklist that you can start selling at a small amount. So say $5, $10, maybe you have templates that you use frequently in your business. You could start selling these now. I teach creative entrepreneurs and online entrepreneurs that I work with to get started small. Don't go out with a bang and create this giant course, but get started creating these smaller passive products that you can start getting some money into your business. The next way you can start making money, which I also use as well, is sell a service. For me, I sell YouTube coaching clients come to me asking me to help them map out their YouTube strategy and then they can touch base with me if they have problems along the way on how to do this. What's a service you could create? Work one on one. I really suggest, especially if you're getting started in your business, to get with a service, start with a one on one client. It's really, really going to help you in the long run with your business. If you do one on one services. Now with these services, you can always promote them in your videos and talk about them so that people who find you here on YouTube also know you have these one on one services. The next way you can make Money here on YouTube is interview one of your one on one clients. So if you already have one on one clients, have an interview with them and upload it here to YouTube. This is a great way to to sell people your services because they're going to see what it looks like to work with you from another person so they're hearing from somebody else, not just you tooting your own horn. It's an actual physical person who has seen things happen in their business. Because of what you've done for them. So by creating an interview or having an interview with a current or past client, that's going to help you really generate more income in your one on one services. This is another way you can generate more money into your business by using YouTube and it is to host a masterclass. One thing that I like to do is host a free masterclass at first so you can start practicing here on YouTube, do a YouTube live, but promote it as a class. Then you can do it unlisted so only those people that signed up for it will get the link. Or you could totally do it live once you get some practicing in on it. Then you could turn those videos to private and and sell them as masterclasses. Start small with like $10 on how to create a thumbnail or $10 for my masterclass on how to set up your trello business. Whatever it's going to be, this is a great way to start getting people used to your teaching technique and to start making a little bit of money on it as well. And what's great about using YouTube is it's free, you can share your screen, you can hook up your microphone and it really looks professional. Then it's already uploaded to YouTube. So you can either share it with the unlisted link or go ahead and download it from YouTube and upload it again to a platform like Thinkific or Teachable. I still got some more ideas coming for you. And the next way you can make money here on YouTube without waiting for a paycheck from YouTube as affiliates, companies like ConvertKit and LeadPages and all these different software systems usually have an affiliate program. One affiliate program I'm a part of is TubeBuddy. So when I promote Tubebuddy and somebody signs up through my link, I get money. And I've actually been getting money from Tubebuddy every single month because of a video I did on how I use TubeBuddy. I then have the link not only in my blog post, but in the description box below my YouTube video. And so people are constantly seeing how I'm using Tubebuddy. It interests them, they think they want to use it. They think it's going to work for them. They think they click on my link and bam. I get a paycheck at the end of every single month from TubeBuddy. What are some affiliates that you could potentially highlight in your videos that you could start getting people to sign up for? Another great way to make money is sponsored videos. Now this is something I have not done Yet I've been really focused on creating content and growing my channel. But you could absolutely reach out to programs or products that you use a lot of to see if they want to sponsor sponsor a video from you. If you listen to podcasts, this happens a lot in podcasts, right? They'll say this video is sponsored by or they will say thanks for our partner in Squarespace or ConvertKit. And they actually pay them money to basically advertise their product on their videos or their podcast. So this is a way you could start building an income as well. Typically businesses look for around 5,000 subscribers, but if you have a really active group and you only have like 500 subscribers, but they're super active, you could always reach out to a company to see if they'd want to sponsor your video. You could do your own testing. You could sign up for an audible link and promote Audible in your video. And you can track how much traffic that you get as a case study so that you can then pitch to a potential sponsorship deal. There are other ways you can do this for me. I'm going to be doing a video in a couple weeks highlighting one of my friends takeout kits. She has a meal service, a meal subscription service where I'm going to actually track how much traffic I send to her website as a great case study to send to potential sponsorships in the future. Plus it helps her out to get more traffic over to her website. Another way I'm making Money here on YouTube is getting people into my email list. So I push my channel checklist here to get people into my email list or any free opt in a script template or a free masterclass for which helps build my email list. Once I get a person's email list then I funnel them through basically a sales funnel to then build know, like and trust factors with them. Then pitch them a PDF that costs like $5 or video ideas that cost like $100 and it builds up to eventually pitching them my online course which is around $1,000 or services for working one on one with me. That's how I'm using YouTube with my opt ins to get people into my email list to bring money into my business. How are you currently making money in your business?
