Trena Little shares eight strategies for reaching 1,000 YouTube subscribers, covering promotion, consistency, niche focus, analytics, and calls to action. The video targets creators trying to hit YouTube's monetization threshold of 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours.
Here on YouTube, we used to be super excited when we finally hit that 100 subscriber mark because that meant we finally had our custom URL. But some things has changed in the YouTube world and thanks to demonetization, you now need to get 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time to monetize your videos and add an associated website link. So sending people to your website or your landing page, so, so let's talk about how to get to 1,000 subscribers fast. That's all what we want to do so we can have that clickable link to our website. Hi, I'm Trina and I started this channel to help creative entrepreneurs like you get on YouTube to grow your business. As a mom of two, I don't have time to spend on my computer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So using my YouTube videos as my 24 hour sales team has helped me grow my business while I can enjoy life with my kids. So my first tip for you is to share your channel everywhere. Don't just put up a video and think people will find out you have a channel. You've got to tell people, tell your Facebook friends, tell Facebook groups when you have promotion days, share it on your Facebook page, tell your email list, share it on Instagram. You've really got to get the word out that you have a channel and that they should subscribe. Even though YouTube continues to grow in popularity, it's a relatively newer platform for some people and they don't understand that they can actually subscribe to that channel. So just make sure you tell them to. The next thing is to add a subscribe watermark to your video like I have right in this corner. If you put an actual red graphic there, it looks much more like a YouTube button. So people are more likely to click that watermark and subscribe to your channel than if you were to have, say, your logo as the watermark. Tip number three is you've got to got to research your videos. Don't just throw up a video thinking this is what your audience wants to see. You've got to do the research, figure out what your audience is searching, what videos are doing well, what videos are trending, and see if you can piggyback off the traffic of that video. What are the videos that experts in your industry are currently creating, and make your own spin on those videos. The next tip is consistency, consistency, consistency. Now, if you can only commit to one video a week, that is absolutely fine. But you've got to commit to getting one video up every single week. Not only does this solidify to your audience that you're constantly sharing new content with them, but it's solidifying to YouTube that you're a creator bringing constant new content to the platform. That gets people watching more YouTube. So you've got to commit to being consistent if you want to reach that 1,000 subscribers and get that 4,000 hours of watch time to. Because if you aren't creating new content, nobody's going to be watching your videos. Right? Next, you've got to study your analytics, find out what keywords are driving you. Traffic. Do more videos on those keywords. For me, one of the major keywords that was bringing me traffic was video ideas. So I created a playlist titled Video Ideas. I created five or six videos with the title Video Ideas because people were finding my channel this way. So why not give them more ways to find my channel and also suggest my videos and those other videos that have the title Video Ideas, what works for you? Also check your audience retention. How can you make your videos better for your audience? Another thing is to look at the traffic sources, see where people are coming from. Spend some more time promoting your videos there. If it's your website or if it's Facebook or if it's Pinterest, start creating content there to get more people over to your channel. The next tip is to share your videos when you put publish them. So I told you earlier in tip number one is to share that you have a channel, but share every single video that you create. I like to put a teaser clip on Instagram and I like to upload my videos to Facebook so people know I have a video so that they know I have a YouTube channel. And then I have a call to action that if they want more videos like this or they want to be notified about more videos, make sure you click subscribe to my channel. All right, we're moving on to another tip for how to make sure you get those 1,000 subscribers. And it is to create content, focus on your niche and create content on that niche. You want your channel to really stand out for a specific target audience. So if you are an Instagram specialist, you really want to focus on videos around growing an Instagram account, how to edit your Instagram videos, how to caption your Instagram photos, how to get subscribers on Instagram, how to use Instagram stories. You really want to focus on that one particular niche. You don't want to be doing videos on creating a Facebook page or growing a YouTube channel. When you're first getting started, you've really got to hone in on that niche and continue creating videos around that niche. So when people see you have a channel devoted to Instagram tips, they know that channel is a channel. They've got to subscribe because they want to grow their Instagram. Alright, the next tip I have for you is have a call to action in your videos. So you could either have a little mouse clicking the subscribe button at the beginning of your videos or you could be telling people at the beginning of your videos to subscribe or telling people at the end of your video to subscribe. But make sure you tell people in your YouTube videos to subscribe to your channel, otherwise they're not going to know that's what you want them to do. Have that call to action. Here's a bonus tip for you and you might not be doing this, or you might not know to do this, but create playlists. Playlists help you get more views, help you get more subscribers. And put these playlists on pins on Pinterest, Put these playlists on Twitter, put these playlists in Facebook. Put these playlists on your Instagram. The more content you can get people to watch, the more watch time hours you accumulate and the more subscribers you are going to get. If you want to continue to improve your YouTube channel, make sure you click the playlist that I have on your screen right now and don't forget to subscribe to my channel to continue to help you grow your YouTube channel channel. Thank you for watching and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
