I know it can be hard for you to take advice from somebody that says has 5,000 subscribers already. You want to hear from somebody who's just getting started that Maybe only has 20 or 30 subscribers. That's why I brought somebody on my channel today who has just recently grown her channel really fast and she's going to share with her her best tips for growing a YouTube channel. Hi, my name is Trina and on this channel I help creative entrepreneurs just like you get on YouTube to grow your business. Now, I teach a lot about YouTube, but what about people who are on YouTube that don't teach YouTube? How did they grow their channel? That's exactly why I brought Heather on today. She has a channel over on Professor Heather where she teaches strategies and tips on how to write resumes and get on LinkedIn and to basically further your career. So Heather is going to share with us the best tip tips that she took to grow her channel. Take it away, Heather.
Hey guys, Heather Austin here from professoraustin.com I'm super excited to be here on Trina's channel today sharing with you how I've grown my YouTube channel and some of the tips that have worked well for me. Now, I love Trina's channel because she provides in depth knowledge that really helps us as YouTube creators grow our YouTube channel. So I'm super excited to share these tips with you. Over on my channel I provide career and business strategy to working professionals. And over the last couple of months I have seen some amazing results. In fact, in just six months, I had a video that went from zero to a hundred thousand views and I had another video that went to 70,000 views in just four months. So I'm going to share with you some of the things that I have done to make this possible. The first tip that I want to share with you is to research before you film. Before every video that I film, I actually research the topic. I make sure that it's something that my audience is looking for and something that they'll actually spend time watching. I also look for topics that I can rank for. These are topics that have a high search volume but low search results. The second thing that I've done that has worked really well for me is to batch film. Normally on my day of filming, like today, I will film four videos in one day and it normally takes me about two hours. But when I do that, I have to block out the day and the time that I'm going to film. Now, those four videos allow me to put out one video a week. So I will film once a month for two hours. Now, the third thing that has worked well for me is to get comfortable with video editing software. Now, there is a little bit of a learning curve involved with this, and I don't mean to get comfortable adding bells and whistles and things like that to your videos. All I mean is to learn how to quickly cut out mistakes you've made or those bloopers so that when you're filming, you're not pressured to get it right. You can actually cut a piece if you make a mistake, and the video can keep going without you pausing. So the fourth thing that has worked really well for me is to create thumbnails that are captivating. I know you've probably heard this advice so, so many times, and I'm going to tell you again that a good thumbnail is critical for your video. So I like to think of it as a gift. If someone hands you a present to open, you're more likely to open it and you're more excited about opening it if it looks nice and neat and if it has bright colors or if it's engaging. Now, if the present is wrapped in a brown paper bag or a sack, which sometimes we have to do because we don't have time, you're not as excited about opening it. So. So think of that as your thumbnail. The thumbnail needs to be captivating, it needs to be engaging, and it needs to make your audience want to open it or click on it. And the fifth thing that has worked well for me is to find a community. Now, I saved this for last because for me, it's probably been one of the most important things that I could have done for my channel. You want to find others that are also trying to grow a YouTube channel and support them. Now, you can normally find these types of groups of on Facebook. There's a lot of groups designated just for this purpose. And I would recommend not just dropping your link to your video in the group, dropping your link, but then going and seeing who else has put a link in and watching, liking and commenting on their video and subscribing to their channel. What will happen as you do this is your channel starts gaining momentum and your community starts gaining momentum because you have a lot of people doing the same thing that you're doing. And so they all want to support each other. Make sure you take a look at her collaboration on my channel. I'm sure she'll provide a link below this video. So thanks guys, and good luck growing your channels.
