Now if you're coming from the blogging world or the Facebook world, I understand that titles are a little bit different for you. You maybe are using co scheduler to find that perfect title that's going to catch people's eyes and get them to click to watch your video or read your blog. But YouTube is not like that. YouTube runs on search engine optimization and the best way for you to find a good title for video is just head on over to the YouTube search bar. Type in what title you think you want to use. Are there any results? Did YouTube figure out what you were saying before you said it? If not, then you're not going to get any views. Instead, start to type in a video idea and see what YouTube tries to pre populate. Those are actual search phrases people are using in YouTube and they actually have it listed for from most popular down. This is how you're going to want to title your videos. Sorry, no cute little kitsy titles for you here on YouTube. Mistake number two not creating a custom thumbnail. Now I get it. We all have 101 things to do on our to do list and so we don't think creating a custom thumbnail is really in our time schedule. Well, if you want people to watch your video, you're going to have to take the time to create a custom thumbnail. It does not matter how great the value of your video is or how great the production value of your video is. If that thumbnail is not eye catching when it shows up in search results, no one's going to click it. This is your primary marketing material and you need to focus on it and make sure you have a custom thumbnail for every single one of your videos. So take the time create that custom thumbnail. What you can do is create a template in Canva or Pixlr and have it already set up. All you have to do is throw A picture in and then you're done. Mistake number three, having a graphic intro as the first thing playing on your video. Now, I know these can seem really cool and cute. You have your logo flying in, there's music, there's pictures of you. But it's not gonna work on YouTube. You have around five seconds to grab the viewer's attention before they decide they're going to click off your video. So you need to make sure you hook them instantly when they click on your video. They want value. And if they click on your video and it's this music and this logo flying around, it's going to do nothing for them. You want to be the first thing they see, and you want to create a relationship instantly and you want to make sure they stay to watch. So tell them what they're going to learn in this video or give them an alarming statistic to make them keep watching the video or let them see what's coming up in the video. Anything that you can do to make sure they stick around to actually watch your video and don't click off. Are you ready to stop making these YouTube newbie mistakes?
