Content Creation Strategy: How To Create Great Content Online From Start To Finish

Trena Little walks through a system for creating video content across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. She shows where to find ideas (YouTube autocomplete, TubeBuddy, AnswerThePublic), how to organize them in Asana, build a content calendar, and script videos with a 3-5 second hook and 10-15 second intro. Basic production tips: good lighting, external audio, and a phone rig.
Trying to stay consistent with creating content is hard, but the only way I've been able to stay consistent on my YouTube and my blog for over five.
Years now is having a system in.
Place and a proven plan. And that proven plan is exactly what I want to share with you here in this video. First, I'm going to show you how to never run out of video ideas or content ideas, because I know that can totally happen. Then I'm going to show you how I create a content calendar. And that not only tells me when these videos need to go live, but it helps me keep all of my ideas organized in one central place. And setting up this calendar makes me put dates on things so that I actually do it. Then I'm going to walk you through exactly what you should be saying in your video content.
Whether it's your very first YouTube video.
Or your 100th video, I'm going to share with you the things you should be saying. And then finally I'm going to walk you through a few snips, small tweaks you can make to your video content to make your videos look even more professional. How's that sound? Comment? Heck yes. Below, if you are ready to dig in. My name is Trina. If you are new here and if you like learning about organizing your content and planning it all out in advance.
So that you can make more revenue.
In your business, make sure you subscribe to this channel because that's my jam. Before I show you my process, I need to tell you that looking for.
Content ideas isn't going to do you.
Any good if you don't have a system to keep those ideas organized. Because if you can't find those ideas that you came up with, what's the point? So first let me show you how I save and organize all my content ideas. Then I'm going to show you the six different places I go to generate some fun content ideas.
To make sure you're never running out of ideas, you have got to keep them organized. So the reason why I always suggest keeping them organized electronic is because if you write ideas down on a notebook or a piece of paper, nine times out of ten you're going to forget about it, lose it or not. Remember where you put that piece of paper. If you're like me and you have kids, then they probably took that notebook. But a lot of the time some of your best ideas come into your head when you're not really planning content. So leaving those ideas here in a catch all place will allow you to come back to them when you have time to research them. So what I like to do when I'm tracking all of my ideas just like this, for example, I was on YouTube one day and I saw this video and I thought, oh, well, that could be a good idea for me. Vlogging advice I wish I had when I started, maybe I could do something like YouTube advice. You see I have that listed there. YouTube advice I wish I had when I got started, maybe even business advice. And so what I do is I, I just take a screenshot of it and I duplicate my template card because it has all of the additional things that I need to do to get this video ready in my workflow. And then I will just screenshot this particular image and upload it here into asana so that I can come back to it, research it, decide if this is a video that I want to do or not. But having this list of ideas to always come to is how you're never going to run out of video ideas or content ideas. So if you're starting at square one and you have literally no ideas right now, the first place I would highly Recommend Going is YouTube. Especially if you're creating YouTube videos because you want to create the content for the platform you want to be on and you want to use those words and phrases people are searching for. So you can easily go to YouTube and start typing in your topic. So let's say you are going to teach people how to start blogging. So you can start typing blogging in and you can see Blogging for Beginners, Blogging for Money, blogging tips, blogging 2020, which you could now do. Blogging 2021. Blogging ideas. That's a bunch of ideas. From there you can start adding letters of the Alphabet. So if you add a letter A, you'll see Blog, Affiliate marketing, Blogging and Pinterest Blogging as a business. You can also add B. Blogging Business, Blogging basics, Blogging business plan again, a C, Blogging course, Blogging content. You can even do an underscore and get some more ideas as well. And pop an underscore at the beginning here for ideas too. How to start blogging. How to start blogging and earn money. What is blogging and how to make money? All video ideas. You could start adding to your list of ideas. The next place that I like to do is I like to pick one of these videos and then look at the comments. So let's go to how to start blogging. And you can see this particular video has more views than this channel has. Subscribers. So this means that this video is doing something well, it's being recommended by YouTube. So I'm going to go into this particular video, maybe even take a screenshot of the thumbnail and title to give myself an idea of the direction I want to take this video, then come into this video and I'm going to come into the comments and I'm looking for any specific questions that people are asking. So this person said, when you said you spent an hour on Pinterest, do you mean an hour, a day or a week or what? Going to talk about content, Blogging content. And you're using Pinterest to promote your blog, maybe you could do a video idea on how you use Pinterest, how long you're on Pinterest, kind of what your Pinterest strategy is for your blog. Here's another great one. Would you mind doing videos on how you organize blog posts and your posting schedule? There's another great video idea for you. How many blog posts will you publish each week? So maybe you could share what you recommend for blog scheduling and posting more ideas right here in the comments from people that are actually wanting this content. They're typing it in and wanting it. So this is a two places that I go here on YouTube. The third place that I would go is also TubeBuddy. I love TubeBuddy to come up with ideas because it encompasses all this YouTube data and it's going to help you figure out which video topics you could actually show up in search and suggested for. So you can see how competitive these topics are. So if we go into the keyword explorer, we type in that exact same keyword phrase. How to start a blog. First of all, it's pretty competitive knowing that you would want to try to come up with an idea with a different perspective or a different way to talk about it. So, so that again, you could show up when you create content. I want to make sure people see it and if you position it the right way to break out from the competition, that's where you're going to see return on the time you're putting into creating video content. So what you could do is come over here to the Video Searches tab to come up with some ideas. So maybe how to start a blog with Bluehost and WordPress. How to start a blog on Pinterest. How to start a blog in 10 minutes. You could also go to the web searches as well and see what kind of things are coming up. How to start a personal blog. How to start a blog post. There's something totally different or even coming into the common video tag. So blogging tips. Maybe you could have like a run of 50 blogging tips for blogging beginners, right? Or maybe you can talk about WordPress blogs or Squarespace blogs. Exactly like I said, WordPress blogs 2020. Now that it's 2021, you could do WordPress blogs 2021 again. You can start to see how all of these ideas start to accumulate on top of each other. And now you probably have a list of at least 20 ideas right now, right? One thing I did want to point.
Out here too is if you have.
A topic that has trends or specific times that people are searching things more like if you're a DIY blogger or a mom blogger. And a topic that I'm thinking about is Easter Basket ideas. Pretty random, right? But I want to show you this. If we are going to do a video around Easter Basket ideas, it looks like not very good. But when you go into historical and see when is this search, you can see the bulk of this content is searched between beginning of February to beginning of April.
So if this is the kind of.
Content you would have on your channel.
You really want to make sure these.
Video ideas get out on your channel before this increase starts to happen. So you need to know that in advance. So you get videos out in February, really around Valentine's Day, about Easter Basket ideas, because you can see the trend.
Here, you need to jump on the.
Trend before it peaks because this is really all the traffic you're going to get for the whole year.
So you want to think about those as well.
What are some trending topics that you could really use throughout the year? And using this tab to figure out when those videos need to be published on your channel. To catch this wave, the next place is Facebook groups and you want to make sure you're in a group that your ideal viewer or your target audience is in and asking questions. For example, I know this group has a lot of people blogging, a lot of businesses that are blogging as well. So what you could do is come over here to this little search icon, type in blogging. Scroll through here. Take a look at this post. This person said that she just planned out the rest of her blog posts for the year and it only took her 40 minutes. So that's a great topic. Maybe that's something you could talk about. Because if we go into here you can see how many times a week will you post that goes back to that idea as well. Maybe you could talk about how to plan Blog posts because this person is amazed they planned blog posts for the whole year or organization how to organize blog posts right. Coming into Facebook and seeing what your actual target viewers are talking about will help generate loads of ideas as well. The next place is Pinterest. Pinterest is a gold mine, especially if you know your audience is on Pinterest. So we can go over here to search type in blogging. Not only can we hit this and see what shows up, but just like YouTube you have some ideas here as well. So blogging one on one blogging for beginners idea. But let's just use blogging from here you are going to literally hit gold mine because I know a lot of bloggers are using Pinterest. So you're going to see a lot of content around blogging. 10 things you need to do when you're starting a blog so 6 steps to SEO for more traffic and income 10 blogging tools blogging for a business Legal mistakes for bloggers Again, that's five more video ideas.
Okay, I need to know where do you normally come up with your content ideas? Did I cover any of the places that you go to or do you have some other places that you love getting new content ideas? Let me know down in the comments below and then let's go to the next place that I love searching.
One other place to go that is kind of out of the norm is called Answer the Public. So Answer the public takes all the data from search engines to kind of compile everything people are asking the Internet. So all you do is type in blogging and you can see there is this full spider web of content ideas. So blogging what blogging will blogging when blogging when you're not an expert Blogging where to start where to start blogging for money where to start blogging for free. Here's all your how to videos. How blogging earned money. Obviously you got to tweak that for a more conversational idea. How blogging changed my life how blogging is done how blogging works why blogging is important for SEO. You can see over 75 questions populated for you in here. So I'm going to guess you've at least up to 100 video ideas right now into your Ideas column. Let me know where you're at with ideas.
For years it's been hard for me to stay consistent on social media because I just couldn't find a process or a system that worked for me and my life. But after really evaluating how I wanted to show up on social media last year and who I really wanted to be talking to. I took some time to set up my own content calendar system that I.
Am biasedly in love with.
This plan allows me to create consistent content for Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook much easier than I was doing before. If you're ready to see what this system looks like and start setting up this calendar for yourself, make sure you hit that like button and let's dig in.
So here is my content calendar for January. A couple things to note. As of right now, we do not have LinkedIn map into our plan just yet, and I also don't necessarily plan things on Friday and Saturday. We may start incorporating more Friday and Saturday type content, but for me, I don't work on Fridays and Saturdays. Obviously we can schedule things out, but we just haven't really determined what our content plan is going to look like for specifically Fridays and Saturdays. Everything in here is color coded. So these pink are Instagram stories that I'm talking about. The yellow are Instagram feed posts that I am writing. So content that I am writing. The pink is Instagram post, this carousel post that you see that is promoting that day's YouTube video that goes live. So for example, on the 6th of January, the YouTube video that goes live is what is content marketing. And then the carousel is going to pull out three main pieces or four main pieces of that video in a sliding carousel post so that we can repurpose that. I also have Instagram lives planned on Wednesdays because Wednesdays for me are Content Creation day. These are the days I'm filming YouTube videos. These are the days I'm doing reels that I can go live because I'm going to actually have my hair and makeup done. And my kids aren't in the house as of right now because they're going to nana who is in our bubble. This is when I'm doing all of my lives and I literally just came up with live topics that I have asked my audience about that I'm going to be doing on these particular days. You can see right here is my IGTV episode. My IGTV episode is actually this YouTube video repurposed and published on Thursday, the day after that video goes live. And again, you'll see the Instagram story here as well when you go into these. I use Alex Beaton's project storyline to help me come up with ideas for stories and I'll click on this and I'll know exactly what I'm supposed to be talking about that day. So tell a story by Only posting photos or text. So if I want to get ahead of schedule, I can literally sit down on Wednesday and maybe batch a bunch of these Instagram stories in advance so that they're ready to go. Because remember, Wednesday I have my hair and makeup already done and so I could pump out a couple of those and batch Instagram stories when I know exactly what I'm creating.
So let me show you how you.
Can set up one of these on on your own. So inside of Asana, you'll want to come up here to the plus button and then you'll want to create a project from there. You go ahead and do a blank project and name it content plan. And I'm going to make this a test. And the best way that I like to initially set this up is a board view. Just double check where your project is going within your team. And so the team that I have my content calendar in is sales and marketing, because my content generates sales for my business and my content is my marketing material. So I'm going to make sure that it's in the sales and marketing team and I'm going to create that project. So while that creates real quick, let me just show you what my content calendar looks like in the board format. So I have all my templates over here. So if you want to think about what is everything you have to do for an Instagram TV post, or what is everything you have to do with an Instagram story post, you can come in here and list things like come up with title, right caption, create cover photo, remind followers when I'm going live. Alright, so if that is your template, every time you duplicate this, you're going to have all of these created. So when you go to your Instagram TV post, you can make sure those are all checked off before you actually go live. So that's just an example of the way that I've done it and why I like it in this board format first. But then how I can make it look really nice and color coded right here. Let me go over here to where we are at this content calendar and we'll go ahead and make this our templates. I always recommend putting the bracket template and then just say Instagram post and then you can start adding all the subtasks that you need to do for every single Instagram post. So hook caption, photo, hashtags and whatever else you want with that Instagram post. So when you start mapping out your calendar, every time you duplicate this, all of those subtasks will be in there as well, maybe you also do a template Linked in IG Live, however you want to do that, then the next columns are going to be that particular platform. We're going to type Instagram post, LinkedIn, IG Live, and you can continue to build this out as you go, as many platforms as you want. Then I'm going to do, okay, we're going to duplicate this task and this particular Instagram post is going to be behind the scenes post. I'm going to create a new task and I'm going to put it here. I'm going to pretty much repurpose stuff. So if I'm done a behind the scenes post and I'm writing that out, I'm going to probably post that on LinkedIn too. So I'm going to go ahead and duplicate that and do behind that the scenes post, create new task, move it to LinkedIn. Then I want to think, okay, how can I do a Instagram Live maybe about this? So I'm going to do a duplicate task. Maybe my IG Live that day is going to be how I create a schedule and I'm going to move that to IG Live. Alright, so again, you can start building these out if you want. You can also go to the calendar and add in any specifics that you have going on. So let's say like on February, February 14th is Valentine's Day. So you make sure you have a Valentine's Day post going on. So you could literally come in here and do Valentine's post. Click on this, move it to the Instagram post. But remember, this doesn't have all of your templates in it. So you'll have to remember that the only way to do that is if you go back into your board and duplicate it. But you could just move it into your Instagram post. Then what you want to do, if you want to add the color codes, you want to come up here to these three dots and you want to add a tag and just type in what you want. So Instagram post, you can hit enter. So if we create a tag for Instagram posts, then you can pick whatever color that you want it to be. And that's how it's going to be color coded on your calendar, inside of your content plan project. Okay, so if we use this Instagram post, you can see now that it is pink because it is in the content plan project, but yellow because the tag is yellow for Instagram posts. So you can see when your Instagram posts happen. So you need to go in here and give everything due dates Right. Because that's when it's going to show up in the calendar. And you need to assign it to somebody. Right? If you need to write this, you need to make sure you come in, assign it to yourself. Let's say I need to write this behind the scene post. I want it to go live on the sixth, so I need to write it on the fourth, so it's ready to go. I have this. You need to make sure you come in, assign it to yourself. Let's say I need to write this behind the scene post. I want it to go live on the sixth, so I need to write it on the fourth, so it's ready to go. I have that saved. If I go into my tasks on Monday the fourth, you see, right there it is. So I know I can get that done. Can come right in here, check off everything that I need to. Another thing that I might do is I might just write the caption in here and upload that photo so that we can get it scheduled on planoly, or I can get it sent to my phone so that I can manually publish it myself. But once you start creating this template for yourself and you start creating these tags, that's how you're gonna get this calendar really built out. I actually recommend repurposing as many posts as possible. So if you watched last week's video, I actually show you how I link my YouTube videos to all of my content. Since YouTube is my content pillar, I.
Have a specific board for YouTube.
And then each YouTube video that I create, I add it to another project. So the way you can add it to another project is just hitting this plus and adding it to whatever project that you want. For me, it was my content calendar. If we go into the board, you can see here all my YouTube videos that are linked from this particular project. You can see how it is gray, because my YouTube content calendar project is gray. But when you go into the calendar, you'll see that all the YouTube videos are white because they don't have a tag associated with them here in the content calendar. But everything else is. I know it seems like a lot, but your big action step here is to start creating the columns of content that you want to create. Decide on your pillar content. So again, mine is going to be YouTube video. I'm going to actually put my YouTube video as the first column because if I know what I'm talking about, what is content marketing? And that video goes live on the sixth. I know that I want to do an Instagram post on what is Content marketing on the six. I know I want to do a LinkedIn. I know I want to do an IGTV.
So then you can start to see.
All your content across the board. Line up with your pillar content and then your calendar start to get color coded. It will not be color coded until you add those tags. So let's say this is a YouTube video. I come in here, add the tag YouTube. We come back to the calendar, now it's red. Now this is an Instagram post. Come in here, add a tag, Instagram post, make it yellow. This is literally the best way that I have found to organize all of my content because I can kind into this content calendar, know what we're talking about. If it has me assigned to it, it shows up in my task. So I need to do it. So on Monday, I need to create the behind the scene post. This is what I'm focusing on on Mondays. This is what I'm focusing on on Tuesday. This is the Instagram story. Now remember, your tasks from your content calendar will show up in that color with the tag color in the corner. So if you hover over there, you'll see it's a tag and Instagram story. For me, these are executive high level tasks that I need to focus on the then content. And then this one here was in the content plan test. But that allows me to see exactly what I'm focusing on every single day. This, for example, is us focusing on online summit tasks. So that project is blue. That is why everything that I have is color coded. So just one more last look at what this content calendar board looks like so that you can start mapping yours out. And if you've got any questions, absolutely, let me know.
Studies show you have only three to five seconds to really grab your viewers attention before they decide if they're going to keep watching your video or not. So I'm going to share with you today my video game plan that I use for every single video I create here on my YouTube channel. I share it with all of my students inside of my program, Video Strategy Academy. And I also make sure all of my clients inside of my YouTube production agency use this game plan as well. This is so they all know exactly what they need to be saying in their video to make it a success. So you've probably heard about scripting your.
Video or video scripts, right?
Well, I did script my videos for a very long time, but I found a couple problems when it came to scripting and a lot of my students have come to me with this problem as well, when we are scripting and.
Then we try to film that video.
How we write and how we talk usually doesn't always match. And so when we are filming that video and we're trying to read that script, sometimes we feel a little bit robotic, or maybe we feel a little bit boring because we are so consumed on delivering that script exactly how we wrote it, but not how we speak. Like, if we're speaking to friends at a coffee shop back when that was a thing. So I quickly started to realize that scripting isn't necessarily what you need to do to create a good video. And that's where the Trina video game.
Plan came into play.
If you've got better ideas for this name, feel free to drop them in the comments. But for right now, it's the Trina.
Little video game plan.
So the very first thing that I do to know exactly what to say in my YouTube video is I come up with my hook. That first three to five seconds, that is really, really important to keep people watching. Now, if you watch the video that I did just a few days ago.
About how to start on YouTube in.
2021, I talked a little bit about this and why it's important to figure out your title in your thumbnail first. So you may want to check that video after this one to see what I do before I even start writing my hook. And that's really coming up with my title and thumbnail first. Then in my hook, I want to grab your attention, right? You clicked on my video because of my title and the thumbnail, and I got.
I gotta keep you in.
I've gotta deliver on the promise that I gave you in that title in that thumbnail. And I want you to be intrigued. I want to pique your curiosity, and I want you to keep watching. That means you don't want to open your video with, hey, guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I'm hanging out doing abc, right? You've got to really pack a punch.
Here in these three to five seconds.
So this is one piece that I.
Do script word for word.
Like I said, you can either do, like, an alarming statistic that gets them, wow, I need to fix that because of that. Or you could do something like letting them know exactly what they're gonna learn in the video. You could say something like, in this video, I'm gonna show you exactly how to post 10 Instagram stories in less than 10 minutes.
Something like that.
And so they know exactly what they're gonna get at the end of the video. You just need to make sure you deliver on that. So start with your hook. Script that at the very least.
Then you move into your intro, and.
This is where you want to let people know who you are and what your channel's all about. This needs to be max 10 to 15 seconds. So if you watch some of my other videos today, we're doing a case study on this particular video.
So I didn't do it.
But on most videos I say, hey, guys, welcome back. My name is Trena, and if you love planning, organizing, and creating video content that makes your business money, this channel is for you. If somebody's brand new to my content, they learn my name and they know exactly what my channel is all about to potentially entice them to subscribe. But again, you're giving them a little bit of information about you so that.
They can start to trust you a little bit more.
Okay, let's talk about something that a lot of people do that I think maybe you shouldn't do. And between that hook and the intro, they put a video bumper or a graphic bumper. You know, those things that have a logo and music and pictures. If you're going to do that at max, it should be three seconds long. But it shouldn't just be your logo. It really needs to reiterate your value proposition of your channel. And if it doesn't, it's pretty much looking like an ad to your viewer.
It's a hurdle to get to your.
Content and it's probably going to cause.
People to click away.
So I would highly recommend just 86.
In that and not even having a.
Video intro, video bumper, bumper, whatever you.
Want to call it.
So now we're about 30 seconds into your video. You have 10 to 15 seconds for your hook, 10 to 15 seconds for your intro. Then you've got to get to that.
Content very, very quickly.
People came for this piece of your content because of your title and your thumbnail. So you've got to deliver. The best way to deliver this content.
Is to break it down into.
Into steps, tips, phases. You know, I'm breaking this particular video down into phases with the hook, the intro, the content, just make it super easy for people to get through the content and understand how each thing you're sharing is building on it.
This is the secret, though.
I don't script this word for word. This has allowed me to share more of my personality and be more me here on video. When I was writing word for word exactly what I wanted to say. Like I said, I got stiff. I was too worried about saying exactly what I wanted to say from my script. And I couldn't be me. So right now I literally have bullet points right over here on my computer. I know what those bullet points are. I take a couple pauses now and then here on video to catch up on my bullet points, and I deliver on content that I know so I.
Don'T have to memorize anything.
So I do not think you need to script word for word. That's why the whole idea of a.
Video game plan came in.
Because you need to have have some type of a game plan so you can sure you're delivering on what you promised on your title. You can make sure you're knowing exactly.
What you want to say in that.
Video, and you can really streamline your recording process so that you know exactly what you need to say in that video. So since I get asked this question a lot, let me show you exactly how I'm filming this content without memorizing.
My script, without having a script, or without using a teleprompter.
I will look over here at my screen where my bullet points are. I say, okay, the next thing that I need to talk about is this bullet point.
So I look at my camera, I.
Take a breath, and I start delivering to you. I know what I want to say because this is my zone of genius. This is what I'm an expert in. This is what I talk about. Live, breathe, over, right?
And so I deliver it to you.
Then I'll take a pause, I'll look over here, remember what I want to.
Say next, look at the camera and continue delivering.
I'm never turning the camera on and off. The camera is on the entire time. Then we just edit out or cut out those pauses so that you have.
These jump cuts that you see.
And that's how I'm able to have.
A video game plan or a video.
Script that allows me to be less boring on video, allows me to stop stressing over being perfect and reading that script word for word and not needing.
To read a teleprompter because I know.
What I want to say because of.
My video game plan.
Now, you got to listen loud and clear for this next part because a lot of people mess this one up too. And it makes your video totally ineffective. And that is your call to action.
At the end of your video.
This is a key part to any video game plan, because if you got somebody to click on your video, you got them to the end. They watched all of that content. They're pretty bought into you.
They're thinking you're pretty good.
They're loving your presence on camera because they're still watching you by the time.
They get close to the end.
So then you need to have a.
Strong call to action.
What is the goal of that video?
Not 20 different things like.
Like this video. Comment, subscribe, give my freebie sign up for my webinar. Too many things things.
Right.
You want to have one primary call to action that you're going to tell people to do. And then you could have kind of like a side call to action where you see. And don't forget to subscribe or also.
Leave me a question below.
You don't need to throw all of these things out at once, otherwise you're diluting those calls to action and the viewer ends up doing nothing.
As you can see, I have my.
Cell phone set up right here.
And I'm going to tell you exactly what I do to make cell phone videos as professional as possible so you.
Can start creating video content.
Now, getting started with video can be a little bit overwhelming. There's a lot of tech. But if we've learned anything over the past 11 months in quarantine is that you can make some pretty professional videos from home. So I want to show you what I would do if I were creating content with whatever equipment I already had. The first thing that's gonna really make or break your video quality and whether or not your videos look professional is going to be lighting. Now this can be tricky. If you stand in front of a window and it's a cloudy day where the sun's coming in and out of the clouds, you're gonna get a bright then dark look to your video. So that can be really hard to tweak in your editing.
So one thing that I would recommend.
Instead of buying the expensive ring light is something we bought for my daughter for Virtual Kindergarten.
She was sitting in this office and.
She has the window behind her. When you have the lighting behind you, it is going to darken your face. So we spent about $12, I think, on this clip on a ring light. We clipped this on her iPad. It has a couple different settings for.
You to use and you have a.
Nice little ring light for your face. Now for it to look really good, you do need to be pretty close to the camera though. So keep that in mind. You will need to be close to the camera to get that light. This guy was definitely under $20. And my phone I already have. Next up is audio. Now the iPhones do have good audio if you're close to the microphone.
I have My phone right now set up on a tripod.
So I'm not as close to the mic as I want to be. So I'm using an external mic.
As you can see, the external mic.
That I have right here is my blue Yeti and I have it plugged into my computer and I'm filming it right there on QuickTime. QuickTime is free on my Mac, but I have this as close to me as possible to pick up my audio. And then we will sync the upper external audio to my video. Reason being lighting and audio are going to be really important to make your videos look more professional. You can get more professional videos, but you do need to think about those two things first. And there are really DIY options that I've mentioned that you could do. Next is your background or what us in the biz call framing. And that's basically looking at everything around here that is in your frame. You've seen from the other shots of my camera that I don't have a clean room right here. There's a lot going on in my desk. I have a kindergarten desk over there. There's a lot of stuff on the floor. You only have to worry about what's.
In this frame right here.
So the best way to make it look professional is think about things that are not too busy, but just enough to add a little spark to your background.
I have a snake plant.
I have a quick little letter board. But I need this area to be functionable as well because I sit in this office every day. You could really get started on just a plain white wall anywhere in your house. In fact, when we were building our house, we were in this tiny little apartment. All I had was a plain wall with this ugly yellow color. And people were still getting value out of my content. My channel was still growing, even in front of a plain blank wall. So really, all you have to think about is what's in this little rectangle right here. The next thing you'll want to do to make your videos look more professional is plan that video. It's going to be super important for you to hook your audience in the first three to five seconds or otherwise they're not going to end up watching. Thanks to reels and TikToks, viewers have a pretty short attention span. So if you're not grabbing any it instantly, it's gonna be hard for them to watch later. So how I suggest setting up your video game plan. And yes, I call it a video game plan because I don't require you to write a word for Word script and script it all out. But having a video game plan will make your videos look more professional. So how I do that is I open my video with a hook, something that's going to grab their attention or telling them exactly what value they're going to get out of this video. If they keep watching, then I transition into quickly introducing myself, who I am and what value I provide to you here on my channel. And get to the point instantly.
Right.
Within 30 seconds, I'm getting you to the good stuff you came for. Remember, most people are selfish. They don't care about your life story or everything that you know. They're in it for themselves and you've got to give them what they came to your video for. The fifth thing you need to do to tweak your videos to make them more professional is focusing on one goal for that video. What tends to happen with a lot of people that I've worked with is we want people to do everything from our videos. So we're asking them to like, subscribe, comment, follow me on Pinterest, follow me on Instagram, get my freebie. And what happens is the viewers doesn't know what to do because there's too many options and then they don't do anything. And the whole reason for you creating content is to drive leads to your business, right? So when you are doing your video game plan from tactic number four we talked about, you want to instill one.
Core goal for each video.
I want you to watch this video.
On your screen right now because it's.
