Content Creation Tips To Make Your Life EASIER!

Trena Little shares strategies to streamline content creation: understand your audience, focus on meaningful metrics, plan with clear goals, repurpose across platforms, batch production, and use systems and templates to work faster and earn more.
The content creation tips I'm going to share with you here today are really going to help you get off that content creation hamster wheel. So if you feel like you're always putting out content and you can never get ahead of it, these are the tips that changed the game for me. Not only for getting off that content creation hamster wheel, but for my content actually leading to more revenue in my business. Hey guys, welcome back. If you are new here, my name is Trena. And if you like getting your content organized and planned out so that it can make more money in your business, make sure you hit subscribe right now because that's kind of my jam and what we talk about here every single week. The first thing that is so critical to making sure you're creating the right content that's going to make you money in your business is really understanding who you are talking to. I've said this hundreds of times, but you can't talk to everybody or you end up talking to nobody. This is where it really comes into play. Understanding your niche. And I know niche gets thrown around a lot, but it is so key here. If you want to make sure you're creating the right content for the right people and the right people are hearing it so that you can get them as a client or as a student or to purchase any of your digital products. You need to think about your content as a TV station or a Netflix category when you're trying to find something to watch on Netflix. People go to the Golf channel to watch golf and they know that's what they're going to get there. People go to HGTV to get all they need to know about home and gardening things and pretty much Chip and Joanna. Am I right? And I personally go to Bravo to watch mind numbing reality tv. That allows me to de stress and realize my life isn't as bad as I thought it was. Side note, if you do watch Bravo and you watch Real Housewives, let me know what is your favorite city to watch down below. I'm gonna go with New York. I love a good Sonja. Let me know who your favorite is. But getting back to your content, think about why people are gonna be following you on Instagram or here on YouTube. Why would they want to click subscribe or why would they want to click Follow for your content? For example, I follow Natasha specifically for her content around creating reels and coming up with reel strategy. I know when I see a video or I see a post, she's going to help me with anything. I need to know about reels. Now, that content, that initial zone, gets me to know like and trust her, right? I know I'm learning from her. I'm learning more about her with this content. So I'm watching her, I'm learning, I'm taking in all of her free content. Then when I see her post about these VIP intensive days, I'm like, how do I sign up for one? Right? I've been watching her about reels and Instagram and then she mentions about how she has the service and I'm sold. I know I need that right? Knowing who you're talking to, knowing what zone you're going to be in, gets the right people watching, gets the right people wanting to work with you. So take this time right now to think about who are you talking to and why are they going to watch your content. Remember, they're not just going to watch you because you are you. You need to give them value first. You need to get them bought into you as a person before you start talking about whatever you want to talk about. Okay? The second tip is chasing the wrong metrics or really honing in and focusing on metrics that aren't making you money. So for example, here on my YouTube channel, so many experts and people in authority look at my channel as not that valuable because we are a small channel. We're under 40,000 subscribers. Subscribers personally isn't something that I'm looking at on a daily basis because subscribers aren't making me money. In fact, here on YouTube, while yes, you can make money from AdSense, that's literally play money for me because I make four, 40 times more in my business than I make with my AdSense paycheck every single month. Another great example of how followers and subscribers do not equate to more money in your business. I've worked with two clients and in one particular year, one client had about 12,000 YouTube subscribers. Another client had about 500,000 subscribers. So half a million YouTube subscribers, 12,000 500,000. Both business owners made over half a million dollars that year. This one had 12,000 YouTube subscribers. This one had half a million YouTube subscribers. This particular channel was very niche. She understood her audience. She spoke to a very specific person. So when she launched her products, when she launched her course, they immediately sold and she'd make hundreds of thousands of dollars on those launches. Whereas that half a million subscriber channel isn't as niche. And so dropping different products and different services didn't sell as quickly as the very niche channel. So what I suggest you looking at is not focusing on those vanity metrics, but looking at things like how traffic is my website getting for maybe YouTube or Instagram. If you have a course or digital products, maybe asking those people how did they find you? Because odds are they're probably finding you on video somewhere, maybe from YouTube or on an Instagram story. You also want to be tracking things that show people are watching your content and engaging with your content. So you may want to look at how well your click through rate is here on YouTube or how many people actually comment on your posts over on Instagram. Remember, the algorithms of pretty much all the social platforms right now will push video content to the top and also content that is shareable, that is watched, that is valuable, and that's all tracked by how much people engage with your content. So I would focus more on the engagement type metrics than the bottom numbers of followers and subscribers and even likes. The third tip is making sure you have a plan with the content you are creating. I see this all the time. My students are creating content and creating content and I ask them what are you creating content for? And they're not quite sure yet. So you need to really think what am I creating this content for? For me, I know every single quarter I'm leading up to a launch, whether it's the Video Reframe summit that we're doing next month. So if you're interested in learning more about this free summit teaching you how to reframe the way you think about video content, I'll leave a link down below for you to get your free seats. But I know all my content is talking about creating content, simplifying content, using content in your business, knowing my end goal is to get people to that summit. If you don't have a launch, maybe you have one on one services or maybe you have coaching services. So your content really needs to on how are you building the trust with a potential coaching client or a potential one on one client? How are you building that and how are you getting them to know about that? Listen to me loud and clear here. We are not just creating content. To create content you have got to have an end goal in mind. Otherwise you're wasting your time creating content. Knowing your long term goal here is key. Getting so many clients a month, booking so many discovery calls a month, selling so many digital products a month. That is what you need to be focusing on when it comes to figuring out your content plan and knowing what kind of content you're going to be creating. If you've noticed, for me, I'M currently doing a case study on my YouTube channel in the month of January where I talked all about content creating content, content creation and the goal of this particular case study, the goal of all the content that I put out this month is to see if the particular strategy I'm using grows my channel. I work with business owners in my agency where I develop their entire strategy for them, upload, optimize their videos. And I'm constantly testing different tactics and strategies to see if it works so I can get them the best. So a lot of the times I'm using my channel as kind of a testing ground so I can see if it works and then I can implement it on my client's channel so they can see faster, better results. Knowing that all my content, like I said, this particular month revolved around content creation to fit this case study I was developing. The fourth tip is don't do all the platforms with original content. You have got to have some type of repurposing system in place. And hear me out on this. I will create a YouTube video. What I'm doing right now, this is my pillar piece of content. This comes out every single week. Come sickness, come quarantine, this video has to come out every single week. Because from this video we then post it to Facebook, we then post it to Instagram tv. We then use clips on IG stories, we also repurpose it into a reel, we also blog about it, we turn these transcripts into a blog. We also send our newsletter content about this. And before you think, well Trina, I'm diluting my content. People are going to get tired of seeing the same content across all the platforms. Wrong. Just the other day this amazing analogy hit me across the head. I was taking my kids to their grandparents house for the day and we pulled out of the garage and it was like a blizzard outside. I could hardly see in front of me and I thought we're never going to make it to grandma's house. I'm going to have to turn around before we even get to the main road. So I got to the end of the neighborhood, I turned on the main road and within seconds the snow was gone. Okay, so Trina, how does this relate to my content? So, so many times we're focused on this little circle of ours, right? Right at my house, right in my neighborhood. It was crazy snowing, but just a couple blocks out there was no snow at all. And so while we're really focused and we think people really care what we're doing, people who watch your YouTube channel may not be watching you on Instagram, may not be checking out your Facebook content. People on your Instagram may not even be watching your YouTube content. You want to make sure the time you're putting into your content, your content is getting maximum results and being seen by the most amount of people. That's why you repurpose. Not everybody is going to see, say, why are you doing this on multiple platforms? Different people are going to see it. The fifth tip is researching what you should actually talk about. I've said this multiple times in my videos and I will link to one up here where I walk through how to pick the right video ideas. But not all video content. Video ideas are created equally. Remember we talked about really understanding who you are talking to. So that particular person is looking for certain types of videos to watch. So you've got to do the research to determine how are they phrasing that problem, how are they searching for that problem, what are they really like when it comes to content Content around that problem. Remember, you aren't creating the content you want to create. You're creating the content your audience wants to see. When you change that mindset, that's when you're going to start getting more people over to your business. That's when you're going to start booking more one on one services. That's when you're going to start getting more people buying your courses and digital products. When you create the content that your audience wants, in addition to creating content for your community, you need to make sure you're creating content that's going to grow your audience as well. So here on YouTube, I really want to make sure the content that I create not only is what my audience wants to see, but what I can compete with here on YouTube. Yes, there's a lot of content here on YouTube. But by strategizing and tweaking the way you deliver your content, the way you create your thumbnail, the way you create your title, is going to ensure your audience, the people you want to work with, the people you want to buy your courses, will click on Watch and you'll send them there for Instagram. That's going to be really researching what hashtags your audience is looking at and to make sure you're getting reach with the right people. Again, this ties back to why it's so important in tip number one to understand who you are talking to. The next tip is to focus on one call to action. So here's what happens. We create this awesome piece of content, our pillar piece of content. And we want to tell people to do all the things click like subscribe, comment, share, get on my email list. And what happens is we dilute all of those call to actions and confuse the viewer so they end up taking no action at all. What you need to do is when you are planning your pillar piece of content, think about one call to action that you can do and then one secondary call to action. You'll notice at the beginning of this video I gave you a call to action to subscribe. Subscribe. That's kind of my secondary action because at the end of this video, I'm going to tell you about the awesome next video I want you to watch. And that's going to be my primary call to action because I want to create a binge session here on YouTube for YouTube to push my content to more of the right people. And by getting you to binge helps me do that. So when you're planning your content, try not to add as many calls action as possible, but think about one primary thing you want to do and then maybe a secondary one. Don't add too many or you're going to confuse your audience and then not going to do anything. I've got a couple more tips for you, but before we keep going, I would love to know if you have any tips to help make content creation easier. Maybe you've set up templates, maybe you have a workflow, maybe you've gotten help. What is something that you've done that makes your content creation a little bit easier? Please share the wealth of knowledge in the comments below because I would love to hear what you're doing. The next tip is batching. Now, real quick. Whether you can batch or not is totally fine. I'm not saying batching is going to ultimately make you successful. And if, if you don't batch, you're not going to be successful. But what batching allows you to do is be as productive as possible. So, for example, today I am shooting five YouTube videos. I've got kids. I got them quiet for right now and they're not quiet all the time. I also don't wake up looking like this. And so I took time to do my hair and makeup and I want to try to get as much content done as possible. I know that I can edit in the middle of the night if I need to with no makeup on. I know I can upload, optimize, you know, do whatever else I need to without needing a quiet house. But for me to get out my pillar piece of content, I've got to bash it back to back so that I can get it out on time without any interruptions happening in this video. Now, that could also mean batching Instagram captions, batching blog posts. But again, I'm going to really challenge you to think about your pillar piece of content as YouTube, because my whole purpose in this entire series I'm doing here on YouTube is to help you really maximize your content that you're creating. And video, specifically YouTube video, is going to get you the biggest bang for your buck. The next tip I talked a little bit about, you heard me bring it up just slightly, but is to create systems and templates. So for me, I've talked about this endlessly on my channel and I will link to kind of what my process looks like up there. But I use a project management tool called Asana. And within Asana, I have a complete content creation template. So when it comes time for me to create my pillar piece of content, each week, I will duplicate that particular card, which has every single step I need to do. I am fortunate enough right now to also afford a team that helps me edit, helps me upload, and anything else that I need. So with that, I can see everything that I need to do in a checklist format. So when I'm sitting down here filming the video, I'm going to also look at my checklist over here and say, okay, I need to film a Facebook ending, I need to film an Instagram ending. I need to take a thumbnail photo so that I don't forget. By having this system in place, it will streamline everything. You won't forget to do something and your end result will be better because of it. If you are fortunate enough to be able to outsource some of it, you're going to be able to let them know when it's ready for them. So I'm going to film this video. As soon as I uploaded to Google Drive, I'm going to ping my video editor and give her a due date and say, this is done. Have it done by this date and she's going to know it's time for her to start editing. So having that system definitely streamlines this process and makes it a lot easier and makes it a lot easier for you to hire somebody to jump into that process. The second thing is templates. And you will see a lot of my thumbnails. You can see a template there. You will see that a lot of our title screens here are a template. You will check out my Pinterest images and my Instagram images. There are templates in play so that when I'm done filming this pillar piece of content, this YouTube video, anybody else who's working on this with me, or if you're doing this solo, all you have to do is copy and paste that template, switch out the text to fit that particular video, and you're done. You're not recreating the wheel every single time. You've already created it once. And you just have to switch things out, which is going to highly, highly speed up your process to get things out, like Instagram posts, Pinterest images, even your YouTube editing when you create these templates upfront. All right, I've got a lot more tips to really make content creation easier. If you want to See a Part 2 of Content Creation tips to make your life easier, comment below. Please give me part two and I will add that to my content plan. Now, like I said, I have spent all this month really focusing on how to help you create a content marketing plan that saves you time and makes you more money in your business. So I highly recommend clicking on the playlist that's on your screen right now. Maybe go grabbing some popcorn. Maybe I'll look and get ready to binge. Watch this just like you would any Netflix series because it is full of gold information to make your life easier. So click on that playlist and let's start at video one.
