A YouTube Live by Trena Little (YouTube strategist) describing her recent experience working with business coach Reyna Pomeroy. She explains why she hired a coach, concrete outcomes from a four-hour intensive (goal breakdown, sales strategy, pricing, cash-injection ideas, and authentic selling), and practical tips like batch filming and planning monthly baselines for revenue.
Hey, guys, in today's video, I'm going to be sharing about whether or not I think working with a business coach is worth it and if you should hire a business coach for your business if you're new here. My name is Trena Little and I'm a YouTube strategist. So I basically help online business owners come up with a content plan here on YouTube that's going to help their business. So most recently, I got to work with a business coach yesterday. Her name is Reyna Pomeroy and I will link her information down below. I decided to work with a business coach because I reached out to her. I'm in her Facebook group and I just thought that this was the next step. I felt like she got what I was going for. She knew my business, she knew what I was doing. And so I felt like it was a right fit. So that's the first thing that I would suggest to you if you are thinking about hiring a business coach or working with a business coach, I would definitely find somebody who's a right fit who gets you. I forgot to ask, if you are watching, let me know in the comments. I think it's like over here there's a comment section. I love hearing who all is here because I normally get people from around the world. So whether you're here live with me right now or you are watching the replay, let me know in the comment section who you are, where you're watching from and what you do. Like I said, I'm a YouTube strategist. What do you do? My first step for you was to find somebody who, who you connect with, right? You don't want to find someone that you really don't think you can open up to and get down to the nitty gritty in your business because it's kind of scary, right? Hi, nimby. I'm glad you are here. Hi, guy. Hi, Emily. You guys are all here. Thank you. If you have any questions about business coaches and what happens, let me know in the comment section as well so I can answer them. So back to the steps or my suggestions. The first one was find someone you can connect with. The second one is really think about what you want to change in your business. Not just I want to make more money or I want to book more clients. Think a little bit deeper. Like think, why aren't you booking clients? Why aren't you making money? Why isn't that course working? Think a little bit deeper so that you and your business coach can have a little bit more meaningful conversation and Dig that deeper in so you can actually make a change. Because everybody wants to make more business. But unless you don't understand why you're not making those sales or where you're getting hung up, working with a business coach isn't going to help you. Hi, Jessica, Just saw your notification. Hi, Anya. Makeup. Anya's makeup box. I'm so glad you guys are here. So dig a little bit deeper. And so what do you work on with a business coach? So I really got to work with Rena on basically planning out the next phase in my business. I don't have a problem with creating content. As many of you may know, I'm posting here on YouTube frequently. I just got done posting 31 videos every single day this month. So content creation is not a problem for me. But thinking about different ways to resell clients or repackaging products that I already have to sell, I have all this content. How can I repackage it that's going to make people want it, right? What are some different pricing strategies that I could do with what I have? What are some different promotion strategies? And then the biggest part that I really took away from it is we broke down, like my goal for what I want to make in 2018, bring home money. So that does not include expenses. So if you think about how much you need to make to reach your salary goal, you also need to include in those expenses like taxes and whatever business tools you're using. So we took that all into account and then we simply broke it down by month. Rena explained it as like an Easter egg hunt. So we knew if I did this many sales calls this month, how many would I book as clients, how many would I book as strategy calls? How many strategy calls do I need to have each month to make my ultimate profit? Right? And so we were able to break it down to make it look simple. So I know going into each month, this is my baseline that I need to do to make that money. If I do more, great, I will make more money. But I need to stick to this baseline. And then we thought about those strategies. You know, do I need to have like a pop up service to kind of cash inject some money into my business if I didn't make it the month before? Rena did an amazing cash injection challenge over in her Facebook group. And that's ultimately what sold me on working with her as well, because that was just such a great experience and how she explained it and made selling sound doable. And then another thing that we really covered is she taught Me how to sell. So it sounds like me. I want to be friends with all of you guys. And I feel so guilty when I. When I reach out to say, hey, I really want to help you. I want to help you. Here's a strategy call. Here's the invoice. Right? That sounds so impersonal, and I really felt guilty about that, and it was hard for me to do it. So Marina really broke it down in a way for me to make it feel more comfortable and to make it sound like me, and that's ultimately what changed my entire perspective on business. So was working with a business coach worth it for me? Yes. Yes, yes. In fact, I've been on three calls already today with potential sales, and it's not me just going out to make the sale. It's reaching out to people that I know they're really gonna benefit from this service that I have. Like, I know you want to make your YouTube channel better. I know I can show you how to do it. Let's just get on that call so we can really dig deeper instead of just the surface that I can give you in my Facebook group. Right. If we get on a call and we talk deeper, I can really help you with that strategy. Being able to know how to reach out to those people in a more authentic, you know, how we all hate that word. But being able to reach out to somebody that's comfortable for me to do. Rena really taught me how to do that. So, yes, I would definitely suggest working with a business coach if you really feel stuck and depressed. I mean, we always have those days. But if you've been struggling and not sure really how to reach those goals, it was worth every minute of time I spent. And I did drive two hours to work with her in person, so it was worth this four hours of time in the car as well. Like I said, I will link Rena's Facebook group down below. She does an amazing job in that Facebook. So what questions do you guys have about business coaches? Are you thinking about hiring a business coach? Let me know. Let's just have a little bit of discussion here. Who do we have impressed on your August posting? Yeah, Jessica, let me tell you, I was gonna do an edited video for today, but I'm tired of editing, so I decided just get on live here and chat with you guys about business coaching and really what it can do for your business. Guy says 31 videos. Inspiring. Do you batch film? Yeah, girl. This would not be possible if I do not batch film. So if you watch me on Instagram. You'll see. When I batch film, I walk you through my process, batch filming. And I will Try to film 12 videos in one day. Granted, that doesn't always happen. Some days are better than others. But I really save Tuesdays as my video days because that's when I have the longest amount of time here in my house without kids because I do have a two year old and an eight month old, if you didn't know. And so I will plan out all my videos, research my video ideas, score, script them, and then on Tuesdays I will try to film as many as possible. Like I said, some days I can get 12, some days I struggle with doing four. But batch filming is really the only way I can stay consistent here on YouTube because who has the time to wash their hair and do their makeup and put normal people clothes on every single day or multiple times a week? Right? On a normal month, I will generally film all my videos for one month in one day. I. So that's basically eight videos a month that I do because I do Tuesdays and Thursdays. So that's eight videos, right? 2, 4, 6, 8. Eight videos in one day. So I'm hoping to get back on that train here in September. What else do we have? I've done the goal breakdown thing in months and it's helped so much, Beatrice. Yes, it definitely does. And not only breaking it down, but being able to get somebody else's input or hear somebody else explain how you can do it. Because you can get so hung up on doing the same thing over and over and thinking that's the way you need to do it, and thinking, oh, I'm a failure because it's not working. But then when you have somebody you know from an outside perspective say, what if you just tweaked this? Or what if you just change this? Or what if you fix this in your sequence and then it makes you really think. That makes so much sense. Why? Why didn't I think of that? And it's so funny to me because I do the same thing with my clients. Like, they get so hung up on their strategy and I ask them, what if you try this? And they're like, that makes so much sense now, it clicks. So just having that outside perspective from a valued person, a business coach, was worth it. And I actually did just one session, we did a four hour intensive. And I really feel, because I have a business background, I have a master's in business, so I get the whole idea of business, marketing, all that kind of stuff. I understand Business. But my weak point was like packaging and selling and actually reaching out to people and not giving everything away for free. Because how, how much. How many of you struggle with giving away too much for free? I give you guys so much here on my channel, and I give you guys so much on my Facebook page, on my Facebook group. But at some point, it's just kind of a generic help, right? And for you to be able to get your YouTube channel to that next level, you need to get more in depth with your channel and your niche and your video strategy for your business. So, yeah, that's what I struggled with. Like, how to transition from giving, giving, giving to asking. Right. It's the Gary Vaynerchuk thing. Jab, jab, jab. Where you give, give, give, right hook when you ask for that sale. And that's. That was really difficult for me. I would love to know if you guys have difficulty with that as well. Let's see. Guy says the most I filmed is three a day, and I was tired. Yes, you do get tired. You have to make sure you got sleep that day because it's draining. You have to kind of be on because if you're going to film, you kind of have to turn up your personality just a little bit. I'm not saying be fake, but the camera does suck out a lot of your energy, so you kind of have to turn it on just a little bit more so that it resonates through the camera and so it can really suck out that energy. I totally get it. Did you use a business coach when you started or did you pave your own way? Who did you follow to learn about business? That's from Jessica. So, I mean, I follow people on Instagram and Facebook and followed some webinars when I started, but I do have a master's degree in business. So I got the idea of having a business plan, having a strategy, having a marketing strategy. Like, I understood all of that from my business background. So I am going to be in year two of my business at the end of this year. And this is when I first started working with my business coach. And I decided it was right for me because I understood where I was. So I could better get more specialized help from a business coach. If I just went in to start with a business coach, I don't know if I would have gotten enough value out of it because I've been doing this for a while, so I know what I struggle with. Business in theory, is all fine, but then once you're in business and you see what's working for you, and you see what's not working for you. You can better hone in on those issues that you're having that you can address with your business coach. So I didn't start with a business coach, but I did have that background to help me get my business started. My number one struggle, for sure. What was that, Beatrice? What is your number one struggle? So, yeah, that is where I'm at. 31 videos are done. Some exciting information coming up next. Well, tomorrow actually, I'm going to a YouTube conference. It's called Playlist and it is in D.C. so it's three days of, like, YouTube workshops and breakouts and panels. So I'm really excited to bring the knowledge that I get from there to incorporate it into my strategy. If you're not in my Facebook group, go over there to join it. Facebook video for Biz Crew. Because I'm going to probably be doing a Facebook live from Playlist tomorrow to update you on what I learned just the first day. So I'm going to have. I'm going to be having a lot of great content coming for you guys. So make sure you join my Facebook group and make sure you subscribe to this channel down below, because I'm going to be incorporating everything that I learn from this conference here on my channel because I really want you guys to see how powerful YouTube is for your business. What you said about getting too much and not being able to sell. Yes, Beatrice. Yeah, that was my number one problem. Like, I wanted you guys as friends. I don't want to be salesy. I don't want to be that used car salesman. Right. But we have to keep the lights on in our house and in our business. Right. We still got to put food on the table. So working with her really showed me the right way to do it for me. She was able to craft it for me, which is basically what I do in my YouTube strategy sessions, is I craft it for my client. Where I talk here, it's very general, but being able to craft it specifically for you and your business is really what makes a change and gets you to that next step. Jessica says, I didn't know you had a business degree. Cool. Hers is in English. Yeah, I have a master's in business degree, so I have an mba. But like I said, it wasn't about sales. It was more business, finance, marketing, that kind of stuff. So those are some things to come. I will be finished with daily video posts here. I will be back to doing two a week, potentially three, because Wednesdays have become Contributor Week. So if you're interested in contributing a video, let me know. Thank you guys for thank you for being here. I don't want to keep hanging on if you guys don't have any questions. I just really wanted to share with you what it was like to work with a business coach and how beneficial it was for me. So if you're thinking about a business coach, think where you are in your business and then think how you need help. Specifically. Not just my business needs help. What in your business needs help. So thank you guys. I will be back here on Wednesday for sure. Haven't decided if Tuesday is going to be a new video, but Wednesday for sure. And going live in the Facebook group tomorrow while I'm at Playlist Live. So thank you. Don't forget to subscribe if you're watching the replay. Leave me any questions that you have down below. And thank you so much. You guys have a great weekend. If I don't see you.
