The content is a detailed presentation by a single speaker analyzing and comparing the effectiveness of major social media platforms for video content creation, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The speaker shares statistics, personal preferences, and strategic advice on how to leverage these platforms for business and content marketing purposes. The video is educational and aimed at helping viewers decide where to focus their video content efforts.
Let's face it, there are lots of social media platforms out there like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok. So where should you be creating content for? Especially when it comes to video content, Right? Video content can take up a lot of time. So where should you be putting your efforts when it comes to what platform should you be creating content for? Now, everybody thinks whatever platform they love is the best platform. So I am actually going to pull some data and share some statistics, statistics about all of these platforms here today, predominantly Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, to help you figure out which platform is going to be best for you to create video content for. And then I'm going to share what my favorite is and why. I think my favorite is a great strategy for you. Get any guesses what it might be? Leave what you think my favorite is going to be down in the comments. All right, first up, let's just talk YouTube and get it out of the way. As a YouTube strategist, you knew I was going to bring up YouTube. So let's talk about the data here. There are over 2 billion logged in users on YouTube. 2 billion. 74% of adults in the United States use YouTube. That's more than Facebook, which reaches about 68% of adults in the United States. And when it comes to Instagram, it's almost double because Instagram only reaches about 40% of adults in the United States. What you also need to remember about YouTube data and statistics is that it's the world's second most visited search engine, right behind his parent company, Google. And you might not know this, but YouTube is actually the second most used social media platform right behind Facebook. Now in 2020, obviously a lot of things happen, a lot of things change. We were home a lot. And in YouTube world, views of videos with the variation of beginner in the title increased more than 50% between March and July of 2020. That is so crazy because so many people were home learning how to do new things and they were going to YouTube to figure that out. Now, this last statistic I want you to take in and think about before we move into Facebook is 50.9% of business to business decision makers use YouTube to research a product. People are going to YouTube to figure out if you have their solution. All right, there's all the data to think about when considering YouTube in your social media strategy. Let's talk about Facebook because this one's a pretty hot topic all around. Facebook reaches 59% of the world's social networking population and Facebook is the third most visited website falling right behind Google and YouTube. 48.5% of business to business decision makers use Facebook for researching purchasing decisions. So it falls right behind YouTube at that 50.9%. And just over 18% of the US adult population made purchases of through Facebook in the last year, compared to 11.1% for Instagram, which is the next one we're going to move into. So as you can see, Facebook has some pretty powerful statistics as well. Now over 1 billion people use Instagram every single month. That makes Instagram the second most ranked social media network in terms of active users behind Facebook. But when you're considering all social networks like WhatsApp, YouTube, WeChat, Instagram falls into six behind YouTube and Facebook. 200 million Instagram users visit at least one business profile every day. On average, adults are using Instagram about 30 minutes a day and a large portion of those users are checking out business profiles. So that's a great news if you are a business, whether you have digital products or one on one services. And 50% of people have visited a website to make a purchase after seeing a product or service in Instagram. Stories. Again, some pretty powerful statistics. This is why I wanted to lay it all out for you, because we hear this so often. So let's look at this last one before I start to evaluate why I picked the one that I picked. And this Last one is TikTok. So TikTok exploded over 2020, am I right? And I know not only me, but my husband and my kids, we can get sucked into TikTok. But how can TikTok effectively move somebody from watching your content to getting them to buy a digital product or work with you? So let's look at the numbers now. As of June, 20 teens ages 10 to 19 accounted for over 32% of active users in TikTok. So I mean, that may have changed since June, but realizing that's kind of the audience on TikTok, you want to think about who is your audience and are they fitting in that category. But TikTok also says even the older generations are using TikTok. Users ages 30 to 50 accounted for 34% of total users on TikTok. Here's the big number. 90% of TikTok users use TikTok daily. 90%. And TikTok tends to get the highest social media engagement rate per post. So we know people are actually engaging with TikTok videos. But again, I want to look at what performs best on TikTok and does that fit your genre or your niche? So the Most viewed content categories on TikTok is entertainment. And then the second most watched category is dance videos. But the next most popular content categories are pranks, fitness, home reno and diy beauty and skincare, fashion and recipes or cooking. So if you fall in one of those categories, TikTok might actually be a great place for you to be posting video content. Alright, so lots of numbers. Your head's probably swirling. Okay, Trina, but what does that mean for me? So if you haven't guessed it, my choice for social media platform to double down on is YouTube. With a caveat over there on TikTok. Those categories that I mentioned, those are doing really well right now. And if you're in one of those categories, I absolutely think you should be creating, creating TikTok specific videos. But let's talk about why I think YouTube is really your best strategy when it comes to creating video content. That's going to get the biggest bang for your buck. First of all, YouTube is owned by Google. None of these other social media platforms have the power of search. So having the power of search means you can show up when your audience needs you most, when they're struggling with a pain point. And you have that solution with a how to video or a beginner video that instantly gets you in front of them and allows you to build that know, like and trust with them because you can help them when they need you most. So until Facebook or Instagram can become a search engine, YouTube obviously outweighs the power there. Another reason why I think YouTube is so powerful to be kind of the hub of all your video content is because videos live longer and they can span a longer time period. So studies show that a Facebook post has an average lifespan of just six hours and an Instagram post has an average lifespan of just about 48 hours. But a YouTube video can have a lifespan of over 20 days. And in fact I currently have a video on my channel right now from November 2019. I'm filming this in February 2021 that is still driving views to my channel, still driving leads to my business and sending new people to my program Video Strategy Academy from 2019 over a year old. I don't think there's any data behind Instagram post or a Facebook Live from over a year ago still driving new leads this day. Again, that's why I put all my efforts and all of my time into creating one YouTube video a week. So let's talk about how we can utilize all of these platforms but using YouTube as our home. So here's what I do every single week with my video content. No matter what, I make sure I shoot a weekly YouTube video. What you're watching right now, I will shoot it specifically for YouTube. So it has that evergreen lifespan, it has that searchability in Google and YouTube. And then I start to multiply it. I will shoot a different ending for this video for Facebook to get people to take the action on Facebook to get that engagement over on Facebook. I will also shoot an alternate ending for Instagram so I can post this entire video as an Instagram TV episode and have an alternate ending asking for engagement specific specific to Instagram tv. Because not only do all of these platforms love video content, but they're gonna push video content to the top of the algorithm. If it's engaging, if people are liking it, if people are commenting on it, if people are sharing it. It's all a little bit different on each platform. So just takes changing the words, changing the call to action that you say at the end of your video to make it specific to each platform. Then we're also taking clips of this video and putting it wherever we can. We are putting clips of this video on Instagram stories we're putting clips of into Instagram reels. We could also use that on TikTok. We're putting the transcripts into a blog post, and then we're embedding this YouTube video on that blog post. So now for one particular keyword in our business, what to say in your first YouTube video? Not only do I have three videos ranking on Google for that term, but I also have a blog post on there as well. So that's over four hits on the front page of Google for a specific search term that we target. I can't get any Facebook videos or any Instagram posts showing up in Google for that term. And the one thing that a lot of people think that YouTube lacks is the community. And I really beg to differ. There are people here on my channel that show up every single week and comment, and I'm responding back to them and I see them every single week. And so you can still create and cultivate this community on YouTube and still see similar results and in any other platform. But the whole key here is it's really important to have content on all of these social platforms. But let's not make it harder than what it is. Let's focus on creating one pillar piece of content each week here on YouTube because it's really going to give you the biggest bang for your buck if you want to create video content that's going to reach the most amount of people that's going to get you the biggest visibility. It's going to be video here on YouTube and then start to place it. In other words, platforms, like I said. Now, if you're realizing you should probably start YouTube here in 2021 and you're not sure how to get started, watch the video that is on your screen right now, because I'm going to walk you through everything that you should do to get started on YouTube right now in 2021 and see the quickest results.
