Trina Little, a YouTube strategist, reviews a channel homepage and shows how to optimize your banner, icon, playlists, and about section to get more subscribers. She answers viewer questions live.
In today's livestream, I'm going to be walking through another channel review to show this channel what they could do better on their homepage to get more subscribers. If you're watching this, you could also use these same tips on your channel homepage to get more subscribers as well. If you're new to my channel, I am Trina and I'm a YouTube strategist who created this YouTube channel to help creative entrepreneurs like you get on YouTube to grow your business. I'm doing these channel reviews every single Thursday here on my channel. So if you enjoy them, make sure you share this. Just click that share button down below, give me a thumbs up or say hi down below as well. I am going to let people know that I am on a different channel page right now because I set up another one and I hit the custom and code to just was not working. So while we are here, why don't you go ahead and let me know who you are if you're watching and where you're watching from and then I'm going to get right on into the channel review as soon as everybody knows where I'm at. Sorry, sorry about the mix up. So we're going to switch back over to. Let's see. Sorry guys, I. Let me tell you. Hi guys. I see you in there in the chat. Hi, from India. How are you? It's so exciting that you've come from India. Thank you. Okay, so now we're gonna go ahead and share my screen and we are just gonna walk through this channel review to show you exactly what you could do better on your homepage to get more subscribers. So let's pop on over to Denise Struggle with having one too many open. Okay, so we are going to be reviewing Chris from Sweaty Wisdom. She is a branding and social media manager. So first look, let's go ahead and look at her channel banner. I don't see her face anywhere. And so with your homepage it's really, really important that you have your face there somewhere. Now she does have it in her channel trailer which is great. I know Chris and she just put a new channel trailer up recently but I would really like to see some of her personality on that channel banner. What I am seeing is that she probably does have her photo but it's more sized for TV and what I would like you to see is really size this image for mobile devices and for computers because that's where most people are going to be watching. I also really suggest to have a logo. Not a logo, a channel icon. Right Here that has your face. Because what happens is when you're commenting on people's videos, this is what they're seeing. And it's much more personable if they see your face when you're commenting on them than a logo. So I would suggest if you're putting something that, when you put something in the channel icon here, definitely put your photo. Okay, now we walked through last week. If you want to see Hear me talk last week about channel trailers. I did do that last week, so you can check that video. And Chris just recently started, just uploaded her new channel trailer. Now, what I would love for Chris to do here is to really highlight playlists that showcase the content she's sharing. So she has playlists right here. But they just say social media on entrepreneurship, design. You don't want to think of playlists as categories. You want to think of them as enticing titles to get people to watch. So maybe social media tips that will blow your mind or entrepreneurship to help you get through your first year of business. What are some playlists that you could really create around the keyword like social media or entrepreneurship, but make it enticing because here's the thing, when you add a card to, to your video, that playlist title is going to pop out and you want to make sure it's enticing people to click on it. Right. Otherwise, her channel homepage is looking really great. I love the colors she's been. She loves color as well. I would suggest less text. I want to go to the about section here because this is another way you can get subscribers. So let's pop over to the about section. And so when you're writing your about section, it's really important to concentrate on this first line because when people find you on YouTube in comments or in search, this is what pops up. So this is kind of like your way to pitch people to get over to your channel if they're finding you in search or if you've commented on somebody else's video and they're like, oh, what's this person all about? And so what I would do for Chris is, is kind of beef this up a little bit. Like here at Sweaty Wisdom, I help creative business owners and side hustlers do what her value proposition. You know, what is she going to provide value around for the viewer if they come over here? What kind of videos is she going to provide so that when people hover over your icon, it pops up. So see, if we go to Sweaty Wisdom up here. And so her, her channel pops up we hover over this. It's going to come up. They're going to come up. It's not going to work for me right now. No. So that I can't really show you. Fantastic. Let's see if she has any comments on here. So I'm going to show you. I'm going to go ahead and write a comment and you're going to see how my about section pops up here. So glad you updated your channel trailer comment. Now, if you hover over me, let's see, are you going to pop up? Are you going to pop up? Oh, it's. Of course it's not going to show. It will show you my about section. So what I talk about on my about section is kind of a template that you would want to do as well. So, so go over here. I provide tips, tutorials and strategies on how to start using YouTube to grow your creative business. So, you know, that's what I talk about in my intro. And then I say, if you're a business owner interested in tapping into the power of YouTube, be sure you subscribe for helpful videos. That way, if this pops up anywhere, they're going to instantly be pitched the value of my channel. Go back to Chris. What else could Chris do here on the homepage? Okay, she's doing a great job of highlighting herself right here. I would maybe just take out the check out what my channel is about and just give her her value proposition right here. I love that she has her upload schedule here. And subscribe if you're ready to rock your biz. Fantastic. She's also using these channel links right up here. So this takes you to her website, her Facebook page, her Instagram Pinterest. You guys can add those as well under the about section. So if you go into the about section and you go down here, there should be a little pencil icon where you can add different links. You could actually make this your link to your opt in if you really want to get people to subscribe to your email list as well. So all in all, Chris is doing a pretty good job here on her homepage with just a few minor changes like the channel banner really featuring her face, changing her icon to a more personable icons when she's commenting on people's comments. And then also the about section I would suggest you work on as well. So now I want to come over and answer any of your questions that you have for me today and see what we have going on. So let me just stop screen sharing and I'm going to pull up Any questions? What do we got today? Who wants their question? Their answer? No, their question answered. Who if I can find this and of course you know, struggles with finding my window when you've got 25 different windows open, right? Ah, found it friends. Found it, found it. Hi. From Texas. Hi Kimberly. Hi Christy. Hi Bahaan. Who else is here? Guy from side, hustler, doctor. Hello from Paris. Oh my goodness. That's amazing. Can you please upload a video for best tips for beginners?
