How to build an online community - The importance of video content

Trena Little argues video is essential for building online communities. She cites 2017 data showing video would exceed 69% of internet traffic, then shares how YouTube communities supported her during pregnancy and inspired her to start her own channel. She challenges viewers to post one video weekly for a month.
By 2017, video will account for more than 69% of Internet consumer traffic. In fact, Nielsen claims that more than 64% of marketers expect video to dominate their business strategy in 2017. But I didn't even know these statistics existed when I started creating video content about two years ago. So stick around to see why I decided to start creating video content. Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips with Trena where I provide online entrepreneurs tips and tricks on how to create a video content strategy that works for them and their business. That way you'll just be notified every time I upload a new video with more tips and tricks for you. So like I said, this video is about why I chose video. Why YouTube? Why not Pinterest and Instagram or even Facebook? So about two years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, I did not have a community of moms to go to to ask questions and get support from. So I really longed for that missing community. I got on YouTube and started finding videos and immediately saw the amazing communities and interactions that occur on YouTube videos. Before I knew it, I had found my people or my tribe, whatever you want to call it, and I found a sense of belonging. I didn't even notice hurtful or hateful comments that really keep people away from uploading video content. What I saw was women supporting women and really helping each other out whether they were pregnant, new moms or a mom to five. I wanted that community for myself. So I started my own channel and started creating my own community. I love that even though I may be sitting in an empty room talking to the camera, I know I'm talking to my people on the other side of the camera that are going to watch this. When you hit publish on your video, you know you're going to have a sense of community and people on the other side supporting you and cheering you on. And that's really what keeps me going with video content and really what helps my business survive. Are you putting yourself out there when it comes to creating video content? I know it can be a huge risk to put yourself out there, but honestly, the risk pays off if you are longing for a sense of community or you have tried everything to grow your community. I challenge you to post one video a week for a month. Step out on a limb and see what video can actually do for for your business. See the amazing feedback you're going to receive I promise you, you will be pleasantly surprised. Once you create video, I'm pretty sure you won't turn back. My business, honestly, would not be where it is today without video content. Leave me a comment below letting me know if you're thinking about creating video content and let me know what's still holding you back, what's still keeping you from hitting that record button on your camera.
