How To Create A YouTube Playlist That Gets You More Views

This is a YouTube video titled "How To Create A YouTube Playlist That Gets You More Views" created on June 21, 2019. The content features a single speaker, presumably Trena Little, providing a detailed tutorial on how to create and strategically use YouTube playlists to increase viewer engagement and channel growth. The speaker explains playlist creation, organization, and promotion techniques, including using Pinterest to drive traffic.
Do you know how to create a playlist on YouTube and then feature it on your homepage? That's what I'm going to show you how to do today. Welcome back to another episode of Tips with Trena where I help you do YouTube better. One way to do YouTube better is to have strategic playlists that get people into a Netflix style binge here on your channel. So how do you create a playlist and how do you feature them? I'm going to tell you how to do that, but first I want to talk about the foundation of a playlist. You want to strategically think about a playlist because your goal is to get people to Netflix style binge your channel, right? So instead of just putting a bunch of videos in a playlist, when you're creating your YouTube strategy, I want you to think what's an overall topic that a playlist could be about and then what videos would fit in there to make sense to go to sequential order? Also, those videos need to stand alone as well. So whether that playlist is found in search or suggested or each video is, it makes sense for that viewer to pop in wherever they find that video. For example, let's say I'm going to playlist on how to get started on YouTube. All right, that's my playlist title. The first video may be how to set up your YouTube channel. Nine things to know before getting started on YouTube. Okay, so video one, they got it set up. Now they need to know what to do before getting started. The second one may be how to script a video for YouTube. Because they already have their video set up, they're ready to get started. They need to script it. That next video may be how I set up my filming studio. Okay, so they're getting to see behind the scenes with me. They're getting to see how I set up. And that fifth video may be how to optimize your YouTube channel or how to optimize your YouTube video. You see, if somebody watches video A, they're more likely to watch video B and watch video C. D. Right? So, so that's why I want you to think about playlists, because that's your key to YouTube success. If you can get people into playlists and watching not just one video of yours, but five videos in a Netflix binge, YouTube's going to recommend more of your content. So here's how you create a playlist and add it to your channel homepage. Okay, so the way to create a playlist is being a bit glitchy for me. So I'm Going to show you how to do it inside of your settings. So I want to actually go back to Creator Studio Classic down here, and then I'm going to go to Video Manager. And from here I want to click on playlists. Then I can come up here to this little plus button to create a new one. Then you're going to add your title in. So get started on YouTube from scratch. You can make it public, you can make it unlisted, which means anybody who has the direct link to your playlist can watch this playlist. Otherwise, nobody can see it on your channel. And then private, nobody can see those videos and nobody can watch them. I'm going to go ahead and make this unlisted for right now. Since it's a demo for all of you, I'm going to go ahead and create it. The next thing you want to do is you want to add in a description. Just like you want to add in a summary for your videos, you want to add in details for YouTube to know what this content is about. So this is where you're going to add in topics like, if you want to start a YouTube channel in 2019, this is the best playlist to get started for you. Or if you want to grow a YouTube channel, those types of words people are searching for on YouTube, you want to use them in this description. From there, you can add videos. So I want to add my own videos. Let's just say I'm going to put in this one, this one, and this one. I just picked two random ones. Now, you can also pick which thumbnail is going to be the thumbnail for your playlist. So maybe you have a better thumbnail that you want to use. Let's say I want to use this thumbnail instead. So I can click more and I can set this as playlist, thumbnail. Let's say I want to move these around. You can click this and you can move to the top, move to the bottom, or you can even grab them on the side and rearrange them in whatever order you want to arrange them. Then, if you want to start sharing this playlist, you can click here and get the link that goes directly into the playlist of all three videos. Now, let's go back to my channel and I'm going to show you how to add these to your channel homepage. So for me, these are different playlists that I have featured on my homepage. So what you want to do is make sure you click this blue custom channel button and you'll want to scroll the whole way to the bottom of the page and you can add a section. Now if you want to pull just a specific playlist that you have, you're going to come down to content and you want to pick single playlist. And let's do my playlist and find a playlist. Again, the one that I posted was private, so I'm just going to pick a random one here to show you what it looks like. Alright, so this is a horizontal row layout or you could do a vertical layout, you see, and what works best here on YouTube with your playlist, just to really break up the white space, alternating between vertical and horizontal, or having a couple of each. But you really want to feature these playlists to get people in to watch more of your content. Now here's one little secret power strategy that I use. I then create a pin to add to Pinterest that sends people to that playlist. Pinterest has been a really powerful traffic source for me. So what I do is I create a Pinterest pretty image. I add a play button on there and say video series so that they are then dumped into that playlist right off the bat. Now, if you want a quick fix on how to triple your YouTube views, make sure you click that video that's on your screen right now because I'm telling you the secret. See you over there.
