Trena Little walks through her post-it note system for organizing online course content. She shows how she structures weekly lessons, creates supporting PDFs and bonuses, and uses YouTube to launch and promote her YouTube Bootcamp program.
Are you thinking about launching a new E course but you really have no idea how to get started creating an E course? Or maybe you have all the ideas for this great E course or this great group program. You just have no idea how to get started organizing your course content. Well, in today's video I'm going to show you how I use the post it method to organize everything from my brand new program, YouTube Bootcamp. So stay tuned. Hey guys, my name is Trena. Welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips with Trena where I provide online entrepreneurs and tips and tricks on how to create a video content Strategy here on YouTube and how to make it work for them and their business. If you aren't subscribed, make sure you subscribe to my channel for new tips every week on using YouTube in your business. So I'm going to jump right on into how to get your course content organized. And like I said earlier, I use the post it method. So we're going to move on over this way to my post it wall and I'm going to walk you through everything I did to set up my course. So welcome to my wall of post its. This is how I organize my entire program. So let me break this down for you. These pink post its right here were all of the content ideas I had. So like how to get started on YouTube. Thumbnails, tags description box Coming up with a strategy, coming up with a niche, finding the video ideas. Your audience is watching all of these little stuff that you need to take to have a successful YouTube channel. So I wrote them all down on the bright pink post its. So then once you have all of your ideas down, I started to group them together in similar topics to break them down into weeks. Instead of doing modules, I did weeks because my program is a live weekly six week program. Instead of six modules, it's six weeks. So I broke down all the content into six weeks because I wanted my students to not get overwhelmed by the content. I wanted to break it down into six easy weeks to follow. So like for week one, it's all about getting your YouTube channel set up, making a plan, understanding how YouTube works, the algorithm. So that was week one. In week three, it's all about creating video content, what goes into a script, how to film, lighting, all of that. And then like week six is all about promoting your videos and how to actually get more views on your video. So that's how I broke up my content. I broke it down into the weeks. And these blue post its are the weeks. So after I Came up with all the course content and everything that I wanted to share. I started to think about PDFs that I could create, like worksheets or checklists or cheat sheets to help them complete the content. So every time I came up with a new PDF or a checklist idea, I wrote it on a blue post it note. So that's it. These are right down here, you can hardly see them off to the bottom here. So all of those blue post its were all the worksheets, the cheat sheets, everything that I knew I needed to create. So I wrote them down so I wouldn't forget them. The next thing I did was try to think of bonuses that I could offer so these bonuses would be used as like fast action bonuses or early sign up bonuses. And every time I came up with a bonus idea, I used a purple post it note. I think you can see it way far down here, right here as my bonus post it notes. So once I had an idea, I wrote that on a purple post it and stuck it up there. I also created a pre work module. Now this module was great because it allowed the students once they signed up to get started instantly on content before I released week one. Because I didn't release week one until everybody was signed up. And another great thing that I did is I allowed people who clicked on the sales page and didn't see sign up access to that pre work module. So this was content that they kind of had to have completed before they started my program and the stuff that I really would have liked them to have completed. So I allowed people to check it out for free for like two or three days. So I came up with the pre work module. It's these guys right up here. I wrote those content ideas in purple post its as well. This also helped me kind of figure out my challenge idea because I created challenge that led into my launch. My challenge was five days of YouTube tips to really get people started. This is basically like my prerequisite before starting my course. So things like getting your channel set up, creating your branding, like your channel banner, creating your filling out your about section, customizing your channel, all that stuff that I would really want you to have done before you actually start started my course. And it also kind of gave the challenge takers an insight into my teaching skills and how I teach so they could decide if they liked me or not, which helped convert them a lot easier. So you can see these pink post its are all the challenge days and what I'm going to be covering them. So like in day One, I covered channel setup and the importance of having a plan and I sent them to just one. Just the first page of the channel plan PDF that I had in the course. And then I tried to walk through some hurdles. So like on day four of the challenge, I walked through all the techy stuff like uploading and optimizing and editing so that I could push past other pain points and excuses for not buying in the challenge. And that's basically how I created my course content. It was just a lot of post itself. And honestly guys, YouTube has been my game changer for my launch. I used it for my challenge. I did YouTube live every day for a week for my challenge. Not only was I able to build my authority and show people how I teach, but I was also able to attract a brand new audience on YouTube that would have never found me on Facebook. So if you want to use YouTube in your next launch, make sure you grab my YouTube channel checklist right here.
