What is ranking and how do you get your video on a front page of YouTube search results? If you want to know, stay tuned. Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Just the Tips with Trina where I provide entrepreneurs tips and tricks. Tricks on how to create a video content strategy that works for them while I sip on some wine or coffee. Now, these friends have been gone for a little bit thanks to being pregnant, but no longer. So cheers. So let's talk about video ranking. What is it? So ranking is when you get your video on the front page of a YouTube search result. I mean, we all want to get ranked on the front page of a Google search result, so why would we want to get ranked on the front page of YouTube search results? So YouTube has its own little algorithm. And I'm going to share with you three things that you can do to make sure you're getting your video ranked on that front page. Now, why is it important for you to get ranked on that front page? Well, you want to be ranking for keywords or phrases that your target audience is searching. So if your target audience is searching and how to create a marketing plan, you want to make sure you're on that front page of YouTube when that person types in how to create a marketing plan because you already know that's what they're looking for. That's your target audience, the person that wants to create a marketing plan. So you want to make sure your content is out there for them to see. And we all know how likely it's going to be for someone to click on the second and third page. So it's important to be ranked on that front page. So the three main things you want to focus on to get your video ranked on YouTube is the title, the description, and the tag. So the title is the title of your video. You want to make sure that has key words or phrases people are searching. I'm going to go through how you can find those in just a minute. But the description is a little description box below the video. You're going to want to create just a tiny little blog post in there that's really incorporating your keywords. So all of that information gets thrown into the YouTube calculator and it's how your video is going to get ranked. If YouTube is seeing these keywords, that's how they're going to rank you under those keywords. So then the third place you want to focus these keywords is also the tags. Now, I know some people are like water tags. What do we do with them? A lot of people have come to me thinking they're like hashtags. They're not. They are your keywords or phrases. What I want you to do is to come up with a primary keyword. Whether that's how to create a marketing plan or how to SEO your website or how to create a Pinterest graphic. That's going to be your keyword. You want to go and research it, type it into the YouTube search result and see what comes up. Those are the actual phrases people people are searching. So if they're searching it a little bit different, then shift that title to what people are actually searching. I know you may tend to decide to write a blog post and you think this is the answer everybody wants, but the title is not quite what people are searching. So say you're starting a series on YouTube with your videos. You don't want the title to be XYZ series episode one, because nobody's going to be searching XYZ series. You want to make sure that title has something people are going to be researching. Like I said, you want to look in the YouTube search results, because if you type it in, it's going to try to predict what you're going to say. And you also want to go to Google's keyword tool, and that's going to really help you figure out exactly what people are searching. I'm going to drop in a quick little tutorial right here to show you how to use Google keyword tool.
So in Google AdWords, you want to go over to tools and down to the keyword planner. You want to go over to search for keywords and just type in what you think the title of your video should be. So I'm going to put in how to write a marketing plan to see what results we get. Go down to get ideas, and you're going to see what people are typing in when it comes to how to write a marketing plan. As you see here, how to write a marketing plan has 1,000 to 10,000 average monthly searches, but it also has medium competition. So you have other people that you're competing for that front page with. Then you can just look down through here you see how to make a marketing plan is 1,000 to 10,000 searches also. But it has low competition. So that might be a great option to title your video. So just go through this list, see what kind of keywords and phrases are getting good search results monthly? And if it's low competition, pick about 5 to 7 of these keywords and phrases and use them in your description box and in your tags.
Okay, so now you know it's not just any title, you're throwing it in there. You need to research what your keywords are going to be if you want to get ranked in. So now let's do a quick little recap. If you want to get ranked on YouTube, which means you show up on that front page of YouTube search results, you want to do research on Google keyword tool or YouTube search to see what people are searching. Come up with six to eight keywords or keyword phrases that people are actually searching that you researched. Use one of those keywords as the title and make sure you use it in the description of the video and in the title and then your 5 to 7 other keywords you want to make sure you use in your tag section and also in your description box. So write up like a mini blog post using as many of those keywords as possible. Don't just list them because that's not what Google likes. They will definitely pin a strike against you. They want it to be in a conversational paragraph. So use as many of those keywords as possible in your description box and you will be on your way to ranking in YouTube and finding brand new audience and brand new clients just from YouTube.
