Do you want to rank your videos in YouTube search? Can I get a hands up emoji down in the comments section if this is you? Well, in today's video I'm going to tell you exactly how you can rank your videos in YouTube search. Hi, my name is Trena and on this channel I help creative entrepreneurs like you get on YouTube to grow your business. I've been using YouTube video as my number one platform to grow my business and I love the power that video brings to your brand. So let's talk talk about ranking videos and what you can do. Whether you're just getting started or You've been on YouTube for a while to rank your videos, the first thing is going to be a little bit of a shocker to you and it does not involve finding the right tags. What you really want to focus on if you want to start ranking in YouTube search is your audience retention. This is the amount of time people watch your video. The really golden number here is to get 50% of people still watching your video by the end of it. We've seen with countless channels who reach that 50% mark start to get suggested more by YouTube, start showing up in search. So that's really a key factor if you want to start getting your videos ranked is to focusing on your audience retention and hitting that 50% mark at the end of your video. The next thing to do to start getting ranked is focus on your watch time. This is the amount of minutes people watch of your videos. Watch time is currency to YouTube. So the more watch time you can accumulate, the more valuable you're going to be to YouTube because you're getting more ads in front of more people. So the secret to getting people to watch longer videos, accumulating more watch time, increasing your audience retention is to follow a format that works really well here on YouTube and that is having a hook at the beginning of your video like I did where I asked you a question, piqued your interest, then moving into who you are, being really quick, getting as quick to the content as possible and then signing off, that's kind of the best format that works here on YouTube to keep people watching. People need to have their eyes engaged about every seven to 10 seconds. So whether you can show a screenshot of what you're talking about or B roll of what you do, that's really going to help your audience retention on your videos and accumulate more watch times for you. The next thing you want to do is get engagement on your videos, whether that's asking people to like it to Share it. Whether you have a question of the day to get people to start answering the question down in the comment section, or you write a question in the comment section, anything you can do to spark some buzz around your video, this isn't necessarily going to get you ranked, but it's going to get you noticed by YouTube. Hey, this video is causing a lot of people to engage. Is it getting a lot of watch time? Is it getting people to watch the end of the video? So, so that's really how you can use engagement to start ranking your videos. The next thing you want to make sure you're doing is adding your end screens at the end of your video so you can add end screens up to 20 seconds at the end of your video. And this is going to help people watch more videos. So in every single one of my videos, you'll see that I always have a playlist suggested at the end of the video because I'm hoping people go from the video that they watched into a playlist to help me accumulate more watch time. So what this says to YouTube is if people watch this video, they will then watch 20 more minutes of a video. Let's start suggesting and ranking this video higher because it's causing people to watch more content. Anything you can do in those end screens to keep people watching and keep people on the platform? Okay, now here's where your keywords come in. We don't want to ignore them at all. We want to find keywords that we can rank for. This is going to be long tail keywords, meaning long phrases like how to get more views on YouTube in tube 2018 or generic keywords. So get more views. Views YouTube. You want to have a good combination of generic keywords along with specific long tail keywords to help you rank in YouTube. You also want to make sure you pick one central keyword that you want to focus on so that that keyword is not only in your title, but it's also in your description and it's also in your tags. By using as many keywords in your description box as your tags, that really helps YouTube realize what your content is about and knows where to put you when it comes to ranking and suggested videos. The next thing to do to really get your videos ranking on YouTube is called view Velocity. So getting as many views as possible on your video in basically that first 24 hours. So sharing it on Facebook, sharing it on Instagram, telling your newsletter if you have one, get as many views on that video as possible in the first 24 hours. That's what YouTube's going to recognize. They're going to say, hey, this video got 100 views in the first two hours. It seems like it's a good video.
