I Film YouTube Videos Once a Month — And Still Get Clients

Trena Little describes a content-creation method she calls the "prep system" that lets her batch YouTube production (film once a month) while still acquiring email subscribers, sales, and clients. The system centers on researching 'ready-to-buy' topics (the Profitable keyword framework), planning five-video playlist funnels with specific roles (break belief, build trust, handle objections, show proof, drive action), batching multiple videos per shoot, simple editing, and organizing work in Asana. She shares client results (examples: $8,000 from two videos; another client: 80 sales, 4,000 subscribers, five high-ticket clients in six months) to show the approach converts even with low view counts.

Before I built this system and stuck to it, I felt like all I did in my business was create content. Every day was another post, another reel, another story, another freaking dreaded caption. And because that's where my attention and my energy was going, my to do list felt like it was constantly getting longer because I could never check anything off of it. I couldn't update my programs. I couldn't create new resources for my clients. I couldn't think about the next big thing or the next big picture for my business. I couldn't even think clearly. I was just trying to get my head above water. And now I film my content once a month. Yes, that means I only need to do hair and makeup once a month. And my content brings me email of subscribers, sales and clients while I get to go to Pilates every morning after the kids go to school. All because of this one system that I call the prep system. And I'm going to walk you through it in this video. We create content because we assume it helps grow our business right? But we didn't start our business to become a content creator. So let me know down in the comments. Do you feel frustrated with the amount of content you feel you need to create? Give me a yes if you do. Because so many business owners that I work with feel like creating content is their second job. And before I put this system in place, I would wake up anxious. I would wake up with the shoulders up to my ears because I would think, what am I going to post on Instagram today? How much content am I going to need to feed to Instagram today? And I would instantly be behind on my to do list because I was stressing over what my next Instagram post was going to be, scrolling through all the trending audios to pick the right one and write those, as I said earlier, dreaded captions. And I was spending all my time on that. And I couldn't update my offers, I couldn't go to my workout classes, I was skipping lunches. And at the end of the day, I still felt like I hadn't done enough and I needed to put in a few more hours in the evening. That's when I decided, this has got to change. I'm not here to be a content creator. I'm going to be focused on just one strategic YouTube video every single week. But it wasn't about just eliminating posting. It was about really maximizing that one video a week, making it strategically fit into a bigger system that would work over and over and over again, day after day after Day.
And.
And when one of my clients implemented this system as well, she was able to cut in half the amount of time she was creating content. And she'd finally finished the course that she'd had on her to do list for six months. So to do this, the first thing that you need to realize is you got to have a mindset shift. You need to tell yourself, I am not showing up everywhere. I'm showing up where it matters most. Because I stopped trying to increase my reach and I started creating content that was designed to convert. Every single video that I create is designed for a ready to buy viewer, somebody who already has a problem and.
They'Re searching for the solution, the solution.
That I have for them. I don't care about going viral. I don't care, maybe not about getting 100,000 subscribers on my channel. I care about making sales every day. I care about growing my email list every day, because that's what's going to make me money in my business, not going viral. As I mentioned, I call this system the prep system. And this is the flow that works to allow YouTube to not take over my entire schedule. And all I do is YouTube 24 hours a day. I teach my clients a system for research called the Profitable keyword framework. In that research process, they are able to come up with about six to nine, sometimes 12 months worth of relevant content for their ready to buy viewer. My clients aren't trying to go viral either. They're trying to get clients, they're trying to make sales, they're trying to grow their email list. And so the system that I teach them gives them basically this bucket of content that will allow them to create videos for for their ready to buy viewer for the next sometimes year. Now, I take these content ideas and I put them together in five video series. We'll talk more about that in a moment. But because I know what my videos are going to be for the next five weeks, I'm never wondering what is the next thing I need to create because I have my plan. So once I have my five video ideas, the very first thing that I do and you must do as well, if you're wanting to see results on YouTube, you need to determine a title and thumbnail first before you go any further. Once I know I have a really good title and thumbnail, then I will focus on scripting my hook. Now, this is actually a template that I use on every single video. It is a format that I follow if you're interested in getting this template for how I script every single video that I create on my YouTube channel. It's called the Video Game Plan and you can actually buy it@trina little.com forward/video plan. There are also training videos in there that tell you exactly how to set this up. But once I know what my title, my thumbnail are and I have a solid hook, then I will outline what my content is going to be and then I have a very specific call to action to my next video I will tell you more. Recently I have been using ChatGPT to help me script these videos too. And it's not that I'm asking ChatGPT ChatGPT to come up with it, but I talk it out with chat. I explain what the video is, what I want to share and kind of all my thoughts and then it will help me organize it and a better formatting flow for YouTube. So if you haven't tried that yet, that has definitely helped me create better videos and kind of get all my thoughts cohesive. Now I will sit down and batch about four or five of these game plans at once. So then when I do sit down to do hair and makeup like today I will shoot multiple videos and These videos aren't TED talks so they take me anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes to shoot. So I can get done about four videos in a sitting and then I'm done with four weeks of content. Once I am done being on camera, I don't need to do hair and makeup like I said. And so then it moves into editing. And I do use a video editor right now. But I want you to know when you are creating content, as a business owner, you don't need to create content like Mr.
Beast.
You aren't creating content for a ADHD teenage boy. So we don't need all of this fancy editing. You just need to have a good video and good content for your audience to watch. And simple edits is all you really need to do. From there I will do my thumbnails and when I am filming I already know what my thumbnails are going to be so that I get those thumbnail photos right after I'm done filming. So as soon as I'm done filming this particular video, I'm going to turn my camera on self timer and get a couple different photos to use for thumbnails. And I'm going to tell you, some of the top youtubers actually spend more time on their thumbnails than they do their videos because your thumbnail is what's going to grab the attention of your possible viewer. And if Your thumbnail can't get the attention. You're never going to get the click. So you've really got to spend time on this thumbnail and make sure it's going to win the click on YouTube. And this is a full flow. Like I said, this is my prep system. I use Asana to keep this all organized. So when I am planning my titles and thumbnails, it will be in a column for planning titles and thumbnails. When I move it to scripting, I will move it to the scripting column so I know where every single video is and what phase it's in so I can pick right up any time of the week and get moving on planning my videos. But what makes this system incredibly powerful is isn't the workflow, it's how I design every single video to have a specific role. Because just creating one off random videos is not going to help you convert more clients or customers. And it's not going to make the algorithm happy because the algorithm loves it when you can get people to watch multiple videos at once. Every single one of these five videos, like I mentioned early, is a part of my playlist funnel. Video number one's goal is to break a belief. Video number two's goal is to build trust. Video number three handles major objections that they have after watching video two. Video number four shows proof that I legitimately know what I'm talking about, that I have case studies. And video number five drives the action. Think of it like an email funnel, only public. You don't have to worry about getting in the spam box, getting in the junk folder. You don't have to worry about open rates. You don't have to worry about click through rates. It is a public email funnel, and together they basically form a buyer's journey. The playlist being public on YouTube removes friction and it makes binging your content and hearing basically your sales points easy and natural because it's just you speaking to them like a friend. And by the time they reach that last video, most viewers are like, done, I'm in. I need that right? I'm not sending cold bro y DMs. I'm not spending thousands of dollars on ads every month just to get a few good leads. Because this public funnel, this playlist funnel on YouTube, does the majority of the work for me at all times of the day. And so you're probably thinking, this sounds good in theory, Trina, but what about real life? Let me walk you through a client's funnel who made her $8,000 after just two videos were published. This is a client of mine's playlist funnel.
And you can see specifically that her videos are not getting lots of views. Less than 200, less than a hundred. And from these two videos alone, she made $8,000. Because she is trying to attract a very specific person, right? She's not trying to go viral, she's trying to hit the pain points that her ready to buy viewer is searching for on YouTube.
And then when they come to this.
Video, not only do they get a sense of safety and a sense of trust hearing her speak, but then down here she has the way that they can work with her. This is how she is booking clients.
Right here on YouTube with less than 200 views.
Again, if you go back to the other video that had less than 72 views, when we come down here, again, people who are buying this offer need to feel safe, need to feel comfortable. And because she has that Persona and she's there on video, they feel safe. And when they hear her speak, they're coming down here and they're finding out how to get the journal, how to get start their journey. She has sold over $16,000 in low ticket offers alone, let alone her group program. This is how creating the right videos.
For the right person at the right.
Time in a playlist funnel pays off for business owners.
So why isn't every business owner doing this? Because they're trying to be everywhere. In fact, share in the comments. How many platforms you're trying to be on right now? Are you trying Instagram and TikTok and LinkedIn and Pinterest and YouTube all at once? Because what happens is most business owners are trying to chase the trend wave. They're trying to keep up. They think YouTube is too slow, too techy, too much. But when you're trying to create content for all of these platforms, your content is getting watered down and your content just isn't going to be that good. Facts. But what's happening to you isn't a platform problem, it's a focus problem. In fact, the next video that I publish is all about the biggest lessons that I learned in my business this year. And I'm going to be sharing why one of those things was sticking to just one platform and how it completely changed not only my business, but my life outside of my business. So make sure you're subscribed to hear this video on the three things, the three one things that I did that completely changed my business in this year. And if you're thinking, well, I'm not good on video Trina. I hate editing. I hear you. I used to think I was cringy on video.
Hello and welcome to Just the Tips with Trina.
Hi.
Where I give you my business tips in one minute while sipping on some coffee or wine, just depending on how the day is going.
I wasn't the fastest video editor either. And I have so many clients that come to me that know nothing about video editing when we work together. But none of that disqualifies you from showing up on YouTube. You don't need fancy gear or a production team. You don't need perfect delivery. You need to be human. You more than ever before. And you being human, you imperfections and all that makes you stand out and become trustworthy because you just need the right message for the right person. And most of my clients are using simple tools, simple things they already have like their iPhone, like descript and spend just a few hours a week on their YouTube content. One of my clients, Gina, just launched her YouTube channel six months ago, has already had 80 sales, 4,000 subscribers and booked five high ticket clients in six months time. This is a system that works while you get to live your life and stop posting so freaking much and stop being a content creator and start becoming a business owner. Because these days, well, I'm going to that pilates class every morning and I'm meeting my friend for a walk on Fridays or getting that massage on Fridays. My videos are still working. It's like I'm online without needing to be online. My funnel is selling and my calendar is pretty free and I don't feel behind anymore. I finally don't feel burnt out. I'm no longer available for platforms that eat my time and don't build my business. If you want to get into detail on how my playlist funnel works, watch this series of videos that's on your screen right now because it's going to do a deep dive on exactly how you can set this up for your business.
